General ACCADec 2014 Session Results!!!!

nobody is trying to access results, it is impossible until 8th. Anxiety is the issue here, there's no crime being anxious. We are simply looking for hints, not a crime either. By judging all the conversations it is evident we are all anxious, and we are venting out to pass the dragging time. my two cents

Let's make it more physical than just a link. You are in ACCA premises totally legally and transparently. The date is way before result release but they are already done by ACCA and being processed. So you walk along a corridor and see a room "ACCA December 2014 results" - the doors are open (they obviously should be closed but apparently there is a mistake). The results are accessible without breaching any stamps or locks etc - you can reach and read - anyone could do this - it's literally just opening a drawer. Would you enter and check your results? Would you check your results and then inform ACCA that you have this door opened and ACCA should close them? Would you not enter the room and inform ACCA about this mistake they made? Would you just walk along like you have seen nothing? I'm not actually expecting anyone to answer these questions here just perhaps do an excercise in your mind about situation and how you would really behave.

@ Seagoat As an auditor I would say: "I legally and transparently entered the room, read the papers and concluded that the internal controls are not operating effectively...and in a legal and transparent way I would communicate my test results to the ACCA management" :P (kidding)

i believe if results are produced a week earlier than 8th, changing result date to earlier date might help us

Seagoat. In the UK trespass is not a crime so walking into the room and not causing any damage (including not turning on the light as that is stealing electricity) is not illegal. Is it ethical? The obvious text book answer is no. You should inform ACCA that their door is open and without personal gain leave the building. However, in the real world everyone's personal ethics are different and can be challenged for different reasons. For example normally I would not care what my results are and have never looked up any of these hints. However, currently P5 is my last exam before I become a member and it is the first exam where I really am not sure if I have passed or failed. Normally this would not be a problem but last week my perfect job came on the market. My work experience is just what they are looking for and the agent has said I am the best candidate. The only issue being they require a fully qualified accountant. So currently I am waiting desperately for the 8th whilst other candidates are being interviewed! In addition I have to ask how ethical ACCA actually are. I raised the question last year that BPP e-mailed me with a congratulations on passing my exams. Yet they should have had no knowledge that I had passed. I had notifications switched off on my profile as well. When challenged BPP confirmed that they had been given my details by ACCA. ACCA said they did not officially but it was possible that an individual at the organization had sold my details and that they would investigate. I never heard from them again.

This is actually quite interesting. It makes me think of Kohlberg's stages of moral reasoning from P1. If I remember correctly, ACCA members (or accountants in general) should be expected to act at the conventional level, stage 4 - authority and social order obedience driven. I wonder what stages we act at with our various decisions to link/not to link and why?

That's the point of whole ethics - even if something is legal it may not be ethical. I have already stated my answer I won't repeat myself. And even putting aside legal/ethical issues with accessing some links I would advise not to do this for security reasons. Aren't people afraid that posted link might be a virus which will crash your computer, pull off data or whatever...

@sarbobbear yes this is sooo Kohlberg area... I may overgeneralise here but I think we all would like to act post-conventionally always, usually it's conventional and yet we cannot cheat our basic instincts and drop down to pre-conventional. I only learned 3 stages: punishment/reward ; what is expected ; our principals I know that it is divided into more but for me 3 are sufficient to distinguish.

@seagoat stage 4 is the higher of the two conventional reasoning levels. I think the temptation of the links definitely drags me to a "what's in it for me" and "will I get punished" pre-conventional narative. I might ask ACCA for extra credit for whipping out the Kohlberg at an appropriate time :D

It doesn't matter if there are leaks in the system or not. That shouldn't affect us as aspiring professionals. We've been given a date to look forward to the results, why is it so hard to just wait?

Ciju I have just provided one very good reason why I would like to know earlier. Having said that, all these click on this link and if you see pink fluffy clouds you have passed is not a good way to pass your time. In particular the various posters who claim if you did not see pink fluffy clouds you have failed. They have no way of knowing for certain and should not be stating that. Like others I am getting so disappointed with the whole of the ACCA and wish I had chosen another Accountancy body. As I said above ACCA have already leaked my details and every exam sitting there appears to be computer errors, email leaks. In addition we suffer from badly laid out exams which cause poor pass rates and finally large delays between taking exams and getting results. Now finally I see on the only forum available to us my fellow students insulting each other it's really not the kind of professional body I want to be a part off.

For me it's additional 10-12 hours till results because I don't want to check them before going to sleep :)

@ciju it is hard to wait. We sat the exam over 2 months ago now. We have an exam in June 2015. We need to get results quickly so that we can plan ahead for June 2015, so how can you ask why is it so hard to just wait? Maybe you are a finalist that's why.

Yes I could really start studying like month ago but I had not motivation since the result were a question mark.

@amcterna BPP emailed you congrats??? did eventually pass when results were released?

This was a couple of days after the results were out. The point was how did they know I had passed - I study with LSBF and have never used BPP. In addition I had ticked the box for the ACCA not to provide my details to anyone.

@seagoat it would be a nice idea to check results before going to sleep. Suppose you've failed P2, then you straight away go into sleep and dreams, the shock and impact is then avoided and if you've passed, well then you wouldn't sleep that night as you would be so happy! Sleeping is a good way to escape the "real night mare" and if you time zone allows you to do that then why not take the opportunity? @amcterna totally agree with you that exams are badly laid out, especially P2. I think he wrote my P2 exam in his professor language and someone out to remind him that the exam is to be sat by students, some of whom have to balance ACCA with marriage, work and other social obligations. He can't expect us to sit the whole day "and do wider reading" as he states in his infamous examiner's reports which are not very useful but just a ground for him to keep criticizing students and show how stupid we all are.

Im confused - are the results relased at night between Sat / Sun or Sun / Mon ?

They will be released on Sunday at 12:00 AM UK TIME SO they will be released the first hour of Sunday morning.

Therefore I will have to prepare some alcohol to neutralize pain or to celebrate.

Hi, can someone clear this up for me if i am an affiliate but not yet a member of acca due to lack of experience am I still classed as a qualified accountant?

And I have just received death Student Accountant as well. And it's really discouraging at this stage while I am waiting for my result. First thing which comes in mind is that I have failed it again :(

@moronkeson I would say partly-qualified. Taken from ACCA website: You may refer to yourself as having ACCA affiliate status but may not use the designatory letters after your name or refer to yourself as an ACCA member in any context. Affiliates who do so may be liable to disciplinary action. This is important to safeguard the reputation of ACCA and its members.
