General ACCADec 2014 Session Results!!!!

Kkibalka11y ago
Hey guys Feb 8th is approaching, i dont know if it's just me but people dont seem to be as nervous as previous times... i think maybe the exams weren't as tough (except P2) Anyway now that the answers are out lets predict our results to kill time I did P5 - i expect anything between 45% and 65%
GGabriel11y ago#31
@0028673 are you serious? How can it be realisticly possible that you got double the marks that you had anticipated? Even that without showing workings on the answer book?
0002867311y ago#32
During my 15 minutes reading time I was doing my journals on the exam paper.. after that I used my exam booklet.. I think I picked up the bulk of my marks in Q2 & Q3 I showed that I had learned the Isa's by describing the standard and how it applied to the scenario... I really felt I was guessing for too much of the exam but I tried to show as much competence as I could... I had sat 9 ACA exams before switching to ACCA so I really felt I had done a very weak paper... It would be very beneficial for students to have their exam papers returned to them so that we can see first hand how exams are marked..
Kkibalka11y ago#33
myACCA not working properly... too many errors ''404 not found'
Kkumaran11y ago#34
We will see this time the pass rate of P5 paper compared to previous times!!!! Since Jun 12' 35, 33, 31, 30, 29, .............
Kkibalka11y ago#35
@kumaran going by the series it should be 28 why the hell would 72% of students spread all over the globe studying differently fail????? what a special examiner we have there
AAbdul11y ago#36
Finalists........anyone else getting adverts from course providers (e.g Becker,BP etc...)? Sure hope this isn't an indication of me failing.
Former userFormer user11y ago#37
P5 is a beast...this is my third attempt. First attempt I got 47, second 42...and now I hope for the best. The paper was too time pressured and I keep thinking of the 10 marks I did not attempt, maybe they will determine whether I pass or fail.
Kkibalka11y ago#38
@Abdul i got one from Becker asking me to begin early studies and get a head start for June 2015. Aghrrrrrrr... i must say it unsettled me a bit, though not like last time about a week before results i got one from Global Training asking me to choose them and stop wasting money on retakes... that was worse... how they knew i was retaking P5 no one knows, how they knew i would fail again i just dont know... maybe ACCA or someone from acca leakes to them
AAbdul11y ago#39
@Kibalka your damn right it unsettles, especially as I got the Becker one last time also. A leak possibly but ACCA better not be voluntarily giving out information....how unethical would that be. On another note..........I see the technical glitches have already started.....when do you think they will start loading the results online? If I remember last time out it was 28/29th and the status report was static thereon.

Guys I think we need to petition ACCA to change their P5 and P2 examiners. These two so-called "gentlemen" have stayed too long. A change is now needed. Maybe bring a lady examiner this time round, like P7
GGabriel11y ago#41
well @ P4 we are in a changing world, and ACCA syllabuses (like F1 and F4) talk about gender equality so I think we need to see more lady examiner's around. We need a balance. 7 men and 7 women in the examinations suite. 3 women are not enough. And by the way, I found F5 and F8 examiners very fair and honest. The F8 examiner, Pami, is brilliant. If you look at her predecessor, who was a man, Alan Lewin then his exams were not fair at all. I agree I'm a man but I certainly believe that changing the examiner's gender won't make the papers easier or harder so really student's challenges have no solution, apart from that magical pass. But it's always good to see a lady examiner as she will set a more accessible paper, I believe.
Kkumaran11y ago#42
Actually speaking many of us completed their exams up to professional level in their first attempt but they are struggling at the optional papers. It shows optional papers are become a huge bottle neck.
GGabriel11y ago#43
totally agree with you @kumaran. I even passed F1-F9 all in one go but now I'm having serious "going concern" difficulties with P2
SSam12345678911y ago#44
Gabriel What came up in the decker 2014 sitting in P2 for consolidation? I'm going to be doing F9, P1 and P2 this samester?

@kumaran I totally agree. Firstly I find the exam questions are often written in such a way to leave as many grey areas as possible in order to trip up students. Also the marking system is such a stitch up that it is laughable. All this mark harshly/give credit depending on difficulty of the exams is a nonsense and a tool used to short change students and a means to maintain consistent but rank pass marks. I think students of ACCA would have more confidence if there pass marks showed a greater variation that would be expected amongst ppl of varying abilities, circumstances etc..... Instead if u were too plot the pass marks as they are u would find the bell curve would be as narrow as a side zero supermodel.
Kkumaran11y ago#47
At professional level we can not predict our results mostly..........
Kkibalka11y ago#48
i think they use the optional papers as a means of control more than anything. They probaly fail students to check the influx of accountants into the market and to maintain the prestige of acca (so that its not too easy a qualification)... if thats the case i have always proposed that they pass students who are on their 3rd maybe 4th attempt and have scored at least 45.... Am saying so not becoz am on my 4th attempt, its not about me... i really felt for my friend who was on his 5th consecutive attempt (P5) in June 2014 and they still failed him... poor fellow didnt even have the gas to redo it in Dec 2014.. he said he was taking time off to think.. poor guy... and am sure there are many such cases in the options
GGabriel11y ago#49
@kibalka I think you are very true. Especially, that now students will have the opportunity to join the profession every four times in a year (March, June, Sep and Dec) and I think maybe even revenue maximization is a goal for ACCA, as the exam fees increase after every two sittings. Maybe ACCA knows that once we qualify, we won't do exams so while we are at it, they can milk the cash out lol
Aamcterna11y ago#50
I don't think it is ACCA policy to deliberately fail students. I know a number of people who are markers and there is no indication that they have to keep the pass rate down, in fact it is the opposite. If you think about it, if say only 10% of students passed each exam, people would give up and move to other bodies ie CIMA and no one new would join, so revenue would plummet. You can see that with some of the options. P5 was once the most popular option now it is the least, this is purely down to the examiner pass rate. Where I do think that ACCA let's itself down is with the appointment of examiners. Some (like P7) I think are very fair, others like (P5) are not. I would like to think that ACCA have spoken to the P5 examiner, looked at the exams he has set and the drop in pass mark and asked him what is going on. So far with little success! In the recent exam the subjects were not that bad but the clarity of the questions and mark allocation were poor. I've mentioned on other threads some points I find wrong with the Dec 14 P5 exam. In addition his mark allocation are all over the place. For example Q4 Part a asks to Evaluate the result and the appropriateness of two models for 10 marks. usually these type of questions are split evenly. However, if you look at his allocation in the examiner's answers he gives 1 for the first part and 9 for the second - hardly an even split! He does add an additional 4 marks if you explain how a quantitative model works - but that was not asked for in the requirement, so why waste time writing about it!

I've received from Becker and now from BPP, is it an indication or just speculation??? Did you get such emails last time when you failed???
Uunstopabl311y ago#52
How can you be so sure it's a generic email and not for failures???
Kkibalka11y ago#53
@unstopabl3 i hate to say this but going by my experience i cannot confidently tell you those emails are merely generic. I received one from Global Training last time but not this early, it was like 7days to results..... i asked whether any finalist got it but no one replied.. its hard to tell Maybe we could ask, is there any finalist who has not received these two emails this time?? There is something that worked last sitting... keep checking your 'Results Corespondence' under 'Exam Status & Results' from myacca. Check from 28th Jan upto around 4th Feb and see if you'll see an 'Online Transfer Letter'. Those who got it ended up being affiliates

Thanks I'll keep an eye out for that as well, myacca seems to be down atm though, so definitely they are cooking something :P What's this " Online Transfer Letter " anyways???
AAbdul11y ago#55
There is something definitely up with myacca. Usually this is a sign that the site is being readied for results upload in the next week or so. @Kibalka is correct in that finalist should be keeping an eye out for this transfer letter which will happen in and around the same the same time your status report date will no longer update to the current date. I've got a hunch that with the answers being uploaded for P7 more than a week earlier than the last set of exams that ACCA are ahead of curve this time around, and it may be slightly earlier than 28th/29th per last sitting.
AAbdul11y ago#56
By the way I got the course details last sitting and this sitting, and never when I've passed all the other papers. I failed last paper and am not holding my breath this time around (read into it what you may).

Nvm I read your posts again you've received them again eh, very unsettling indeed :(
Uunstopabl311y ago#58
@p4student said: @unstopabl3 @kibalka Those emails are generic. Last time a guy got tons of those and he thought he "got the lowest marks in ACCA history" but he turned out to maintain his 1st time pass and became an affiliate in 2.5 years.
Are you 100% sure about this??? Are you on your last paper as well??? P4 I assume ...and retake I assume???
Uunstopabl311y ago#59
@p4student said: I'm 100% sure. From your last email from ACCA search for option that lets you change preferences and get free of those pesky emails.
Yeah I always receive these emails before result but this time around they are concerning me hah

Let's assume you are correct (and I sure hope so)...........To my knowledge I've never altered my preferences.
