optimal quantity to produce at 280000 for the final answer?

I thought the optimal production depends on your risk attitudes and the method you use i.e.:

Risk taker => Maximax method => 350,000 bags (highest possible profit)

Risk averse => Maximin method => 200,000 bags (best profit in worst case scenario)

Risk neutral => Expected Value => use the probabilities like somebody above did to find the optimum

The Exam was MAD.......unexpected and tricky questions. Hard 2 Crack.
Former userFormer user15y ago#215
i could not do 18 marks paper, due to time. can i pass? left 5 marks commenting in Q4. n Q5 i could just do part b of 7 marks. overall throughput was disaster!!

Paper was a bit hard. However, when it comes to scenario based questions , no matter if you have completed all the past papers, all the exam kits and whatever , the scenario comes up in exams are so different and so as the data needed to solve the question.....Q5 throughput was quite technical ......I hope we all pass....cheers guys

I was ready for exam for 99%, I knew all definitions and understood every topic. when I first read the tasks I thought "I know all of it, peace of cake!" BUT... then i began to write and i don't know why could hardly understood what exactly i should write (except definitions, it was clear)... i don't understand yet what was it... at the first view questions were easy, but i am very doubt that i passed it finally..

I don't think it difficult. as I got 20 min left after finishing all the questions. I had a check with the calculations. I was expecting some big marks on analysis on performance..... not much marks, as you can see. I am expecting the results.

I'm so glad other people found this paper hard. I am so upset I studied really hard yet the stuff I knew like the back of my hand did not come up. What was with flexed budgets and pay off table. I did all the past papers going back to 2008 they never examined those areas. What was the point in them going on and on about the new stuff EMA & CVP only to not include them in this paper. Im so gutted as I know I have failed Arrggggg

that was the toughest paper i ever gave...
Former userFormer user15y ago#221
exam was very difficult..hope that checking will not be tough..
Former userFormer user15y ago#222

what an unpredictable exam. couldnt believe the questions. and payoff table!!! something i studied do well i could have barely understood what to do. what the hell...like i would ever think that would come up. the questions were fair , i guess i just wasnt fully prepared. overall the exam sucked for me(in terms of how i answered them). just hoping to pass this one.

According to my point of view.Ann,is a bright examiner. She looks for excellence.
F5..it was difficult for the firts time..a lot of new topics, that werent tested before in past papers,to have a better practice and view.the book provides little analysis and thorough examination at these topics tested.the exercises of studybook are also not many and not that difficult/complicated with data,as in the exams.
Apart from that, not all of us are near to study centers &work till night at the same time far from them & cannot attend all lessons(due to work). But even if s'body does attend them all..acca could provide books with more exercises, analysis and emphassis to peculiar/difficult areas.practise shouldn't be only from past papers and plain theory.but with lots of material (practices to practice,practice,practice..)
scenarios in exam were difficult& rather confusing.u needed some time ,to work the data to your head&yet ,we are not given-of course_ that kind of ''luxury''..they weren't that straightforward..&judging from our study team,i observed,we all could solve previous paper questions far more easily (!!)..anyway..study more,more,more..&again for next semester ,i think..
I also gave f8 for the first time & found the questions much easier and relative to previous papers.
I studied a lot for F5,but i am not confident with my performance.I cannot say that there's a lot of criteria/previous tests to run to & check ...
i would like some more easy and quick marks to have been given,also..if only i had given f5 the previous semesters..theory was piece of cake,as the most other questions...and what about performance measurement?no question ,that reminded-as a scenario- what u had previosly saw and would expect ..
Anyway..Good luck to us all......

This was a fair paper. The examiner did not go out of the syllabus.... so how was she unfair? However, I agree there was plenty of time pressure, coupled with questions from relatively obscure areas. Lesson learnt: (1) never ignore any part of the syllabus (2) learn to work smart and fast at the same time. Wish u all the best. Don't give up yet - wait for the result!
Former userFormer user15y ago#228
The examiner was not unfair..!!everything was in the syllabus,i agree.Yet ,she just prefered to test topics ,that were not tested that way before and add a few new, more..those who achieve even so..are the really well- prepared ones and the excellent students..
So,for me,as i gave it 1st time,was more difficult ,than the previous ones...Good luck..

d exam was ok,nt too tough

i didn't expect throughput accounting and i miss Q5 totally
Q3 flexed budget takes my time and i got shortage of time
any ways i hope
Former userFormer user15y ago#231
it was unexpected as well complicated one. No financial ratios no, abc costing no variances (except sales) haa! May Allah help me...
Former userFormer user15y ago#232
Q1 should be a breeze if I had revised. I took so much time cracking my head for it, that I failed to finish answering all. And, Q5 was kinda tricky!
Former userFormer user15y ago#233
What I found annoying was the question where you had to flex the budget. Take the labour rate, there was so much detail to go through to get the number you needed - it was just frustrating.

"The normal rate of pay is $12 an hour. But, if there are over 50 meals per day on average, there is an additional overtime payment to be made. This is at $0.50 per hour for every 5 meals over the maximum, unless the chef is wearing blue underwear and the moon is in its waning gibbous phase, in which case it is $0.50 plus the square root of the current number of sausages in the fridge, divided by the number of syllables in the 4th customer's first name."
