@danielglover I agree Daniel the flexed budget question was ok, but most of my study was done at home with only a small amount of college. The textbooks, for example on the maximin question didn't go into any detail. I just hope I can grab a few marks on the describing section.

I found this F5 exam was a lot more straight forward for me personally. Of course we all see the exam through different eyes. I also got really worried when I saw the flexed budget question and the TP question. Once you start working through the question though it started fitting into place. Q5 I was so glad when the unmet demand of 696 as stated in the question tallied with my calculation of 504 for no. of C operations. (total demand of 1200 for operation C) Q1 Can I ask how people did the EV in Q1 for 4 marks. For each of the 3 values of cement produced I placed probabilities against each profit figure for each demand. then SUM(px) .
I found this F5 exam was a lot more straight forward for me personally. i donot think the exam was hard and this is the first time i am taking f5 the only problem is that there is no way of making sure your answer is correct. through put was easy because the QUESTION GAVE you the answer in section b & c by giving us the throught put return per hour so you know the bottle neck was the surgeon 1.25, flexed budget should be straight forward if your did cat t7 which they indicated that the standard didnot change, so figure/1200*1520 to flexed your budget. balance scorecard was the easy, that was the best question if you donot know the four perspective financial, customer, internal business and learning and innovation which came on p5 last week. ROI, RI ARE THE BEST, I AM HOPING THAT I GOT 20/20 FOR QUESTION 5. MAXIMUM , EXPECTED VALUE WERE A LITTLE BIT CONFUSING BUT OVER ALL IT WAS OKAY. THIS EXAMINER IS KEEPING STUDENT ON THEIR TOES AND THE ELEMENT OF SURPRISE WAS NOT THERE BECAUSE 4 OUT OF THE FIVE QUESTION CAME THAT I ANTICIPATED, YOU JUST HAVE TO LEARN TO ANALYSE PAST PAPERS AND SEE WHAT THE NEXT TREND IS AND READ THE ARTICLES FROM WAY BACK. THROUGHPUT WAS HINTED, RISK & UNCERTAINTY WAS HINTED, PERFORMANCE WAS HINTED SO WHAT MORE CAN WE ASK FOR THE WHOLE EXAMS. THE EXAM WAS FAIR

she doesn't like hinting stuffs. last time she same things what was semester before.
Former userFormer user15y ago#155
All of the questions were familiar and i should have been able to answer, but when time to put pen to paper, i went BLANK i couldent remember formulas, how to do throughput accounting, balance scorecard, etc. i did what i can and i really hope i pass.
Former userFormer user15y ago#156
I can't understand question 5, allocation OH base on what ???
Qqassimshah00715y ago#157
It was fuckin tufff paper...last tym i got 49 but this tym i will get not more than 20..theory was ok but calculations were disastrious..i dnt knw what thef uckk exaaminer was thinking before making this paper....totaly shitttt...
DDionysus15y ago#158
what is the total factory hour for Q5 part a?
Former userFormer user15y ago#159
The comments are very surprising . I maintain that it is a very easy paper. All the different parts examined are in the syllabus and you cannot blame the examiner.
Should the examiner give the questions before the exams? Even then some students will fail the exams and will make adverse comments.
Former userFormer user15y ago#160
paper was so much trickey. but most of the topics comes which were expected like MAXMIN & throughput question... paper was fair but time was short.. but i did all question by the Grace of God.last time i got failed at 34. INSHALLAH THIS TIME I WILL GET 70+. i did lots of practice.. INSHALLAH
Former userFormer user15y ago#161
QUITE DIFFICULT THIS TIME.. scenarios that are near impossible to answer PROPERLY in the time allowed.i ALSO WONDER What are they testing? Our knowledge of the subject or the ability to work out a labyrinth of calculations&assumptions before arriving at the data you need to answer the question? At least they should have provided some easy & quick marks..I’ve definitely failed,also...,i think..

I'm suprised at the comments of the exam today. Ann Irons, in my opinion, asked very easy questions that should have been studied. Flexed budgets are extremely simple, and is more like an f2 question. Questions such as maximin, learning curves and pricing decisions were expected, and covered thoughruly in the exam kits. I don't understand everyone's annoyance of the questions; linear programming and ABC were obviously not going to be tested. EMA would only be worth maximum of 5 marks, so I don't understand people studying this in detail.
???????????????????? What's the matter with people

@danielglover

ABC or Linear Programming probably comes up in 90% percent of papers in the last 4 years. If you had read the Examinors report for December 2010 she said that people should not expect something not to come up just because it has been tested before. So to say it OBVIOUSLY wouldn't come up is a bit over the top. You sound very fortunate to me.

Q1 was easiest for me, and answers for other questions I hope will be correct. Will see....
Cchristine7115y ago#164
yap, the paper is not easy and a bit difficult further not enough to finish it. :<
Former userFormer user15y ago#165
yes, paper was not easy... I wrote much (all questions) , but forget to tick on a front page which question I answered and........... examiner will not check my paper? plz someone answer me...
Former userFormer user15y ago#166
question 4 and 2 was ok to me the rest ?????
Former userFormer user15y ago#167

Former userFormer user15y ago#168
paper was okay bu not too easy but not too difficult instead.
theory was too much and that was really ridiculous.
Former userFormer user15y ago#169
for the exam was a disaster.. Question not able to attempt.. I hve not been able 2 compute payoff matrix.. Q4 RI not able.. Q5 throughput was a nightmare.. I hve not revise pricing.. huh... i am gona FAIL...
Ggary12315y ago#170
paper was average wiz lots of theory.hope to get above 50+
Cchoseni15y ago#171
i really found it difficult, will just have to prepare myself for the next sitting

This is the 4th ACCA paper i've sat, and i've discovered that you need to know the whole sylabus for the exams. I know people are saying the workload is big for F5 but compared to others (F7,F9) it not that bad. Every exam i've sat so far has had obscure parts of the sylabus in...you need to know everything. The examiners are NOT going to test the same thing everytime, it will get to easy, and then what's the point.
Mmarc231015y ago#173
The paper itself wasn't the hard if you know your stuff. If you've learnt profit tables and pricing the two questions were a gift. Throughput was due to come up - but was a bitch of a question. ROI were due, and the flexed should have been easy marks- but messed it up. As usual to much to do in time (I haven't finished an exam yet)
Former userFormer user15y ago#174
So far, I've passed 8 papers.. 6 to go

That F5 exam was the hardest I've faced by far.. only one easy question, the balanced scorecard & ROI/RI.. the rest caught me out, especially throughput, the scenario was unnecessarily complicated and unclear, such a tough question shattered my confidence for the remainder of the paper..

Miserable fail, roll on December and hopefully a more balanced less obscure paper..
Former userFormer user15y ago#175
The exam style seems unique, some questions are not expected appear in this way! Do hope pass it! thanks!
Hhade15y ago#176
i tried ma luck in this but oh God help me
Pplatinumkp15y ago#177
Ask the F7 students about time pressure... if you knew your stuff this was a very manageable exam in terms of time, albeit quite tricky.
Former userFormer user15y ago#178
Ok, so I now have had 24 hrs to go over this.

On balance, I think the paper was demanding, but fair. I had a little bother with payoff profit table (350000 x .25 probabiity x contribution, prob shouldn' have included the probability, less unsold amount x marginal cost PLUS 0.50 disposal charge..... ) flexed budgets seemed quite scary but I realised that they are just the bottom half of the easy variance calcs:
MPV = AQB x AP
AQB x SP- this is your flexed amounts here....

There was plenty of marks available for discussion topics- balancedscorecard.... ok, so I hadn'd looked at it in a while but what I could remember wqas easy marks..

I see a lot of folk on here mention running out of time.. I had some cracking advice at the weekend. You do NOT have to answer the q's in order. So I focused on the discussion elements first, knowing that they would go further towards securing a pass than difficult and tedious calculations.

I think you do need to know the syllabus on whole, and I admit to skipping sales mix and quantity in favour of material mix which sadly never came up.... my bad.

But to say that the exam was unfair was harsh, if anything Anne Irons is known for her leanings towards F2, and she is perfectly entitled to examine any area of the syllabus she sees fit..

FIngers crossed for August- no point worrying now peoples, it's out of your hands now- we all worked hard for 3 or 4 mths for this, so go out and have some fun, life's too short. :)

examiner focused in little issues only .... where is linear programming , Budgetting "part3" , finanicial indicators
these all easy marks that we can gain >>> he ignored all
the throughput was doubt ....
Former userFormer user15y ago#180
I can't do it for Q1, Q4 and Q5. I only managed to get 1st subquestion understand.
