It as a very difficult exam with the 'non typical' areas of F5....
Ddanielglover15y ago#32
This exam was so easy, I'm completely suprised; I was well prepared for all the questions.
Former userFormer user15y ago#33
TPAR that was challenging I stumbled on the flexed budget except that It was okay
Former userFormer user15y ago#34
Questionable

Attempted
Q5 - Throughput - easy marks
Q3 - Budget - Easy marks
others - very tricky

It was hard for me. Even I have done all the questions , but it was still not an easy paper to do. Hope I have done enough. Good Luck everyone.

I could not do the flexed budget well, but i hope i pass....... I did the best I could do, cos I had issues getting to the exam hall

I could not do the flexed budget very well, but I hope I pass......

Very difficult. The examiner chose very difficult questions. They are trying to make a point that you have to know everything. Which is pretty ridiculous given the size of the syllabus. The fundamentals should be challenged in each paper. They purposefully ignored and tested the more obscure stuff. I mean flexed budget?! I dont think thats been tested in the last 4 years?! Yet no ABC or Solving simultaneous questions. Arse!

I said a prayer this morning and then did some last minute revision - on sales mix variances and on pricing. I cannot believe that they both showed up.

Throughput on the other hand was tough - especially the practical element. I gave every bit a good shot but I know I failed the question.

Flex budget was nice and easy if you picked out the information and just systematically hacked at it.. It would have appeared hard if you took any other approach. I might have got a calculation wrong but I was very clear with my workings and my approach.

Risk and uncertainty was unexpected but the same applies. I saw it in BPP revision notes and was able to tackle it.

I am really happy with my luck and the paper and to tell you the truth, I'd rather be lucky than good because as you will realise when you do a professional level exam, there is too much information to know every last bit of the syllabus.

last was better than this... well i hope for my pass anyway.. Inshallah

I have some to the conclusion that the key to passing this exam is luck. It is a very
broad syllabus therefore impossible to cover everything well!

Maybe I'm just feeling sorry for myself as I have studied but not in the right areas. The past exam papers were no help!
Former userFormer user15y ago#42
I thought this exam was hard although I did attempt each question, I wrote about the building blocks rather than the balanced scorecard but hope that as they are almost the same that will be ok !!!
I think that in every calculation there was abit to trip you up and I'm sure that I did trip up in each one !!!! but hoping that I'll get a few marks on each.
I managed ok with the Flexed budget because of the lectures on Open Tuition !!!
Throughput calculation I used what they had used to divide and get Ratio !!!
All my calculations seemed just a bit out to what they told you further on in the scenio's !!!
Oh well thats last exam this sitting so can now have a life back for a few months !!!
Former userFormer user15y ago#43
that was difficult I was about to weep
Former userFormer user15y ago#44
NO.5 was too too tricky !

new examiner = new style of questions...
such a disaster where is classic variance analysis, abc costing, linear programing???

Questions were too unexpected??
Former userFormer user15y ago#47
I'm glad most people agree that this paper was difficult. I thought it was just me! There were very obscure areas of the syllabus all examined in this paper. Pay off tables, expected values, flexed budget. These haven't been examined for years. Calculation part was really tricky, theory not as bad. I dont't think I will pass. Already failed this paper in Dec so I really wanted to pass this time.

Ann Irons - you are killing me!!!

This exam was the worst I have ever sat. I did so much revision, but just couldn't get my head round maximin etc and demand and hoped they wouldn't come up..........my gamble didn't pay off! I just hope I did well enough on the other 3 questions to scrape a pass (fingers crossed X) I thought Q5 was easy tho' a brilliant straightforward throughput question.
Former userFormer user15y ago#49
Exam paper was very difficult,i have practice nearly all possible exam question, non of them looks like Flexible Budget and Throughput Accounting questions. This two make me feel up sad, remain Question 1,2 & 4 was OK.I pray that i will at least get 50 :)).
Hhlclark15y ago#50
Well wot a nightmare that was! just want to say thanks to the examiner for stressing all the changes she was gonna make. I spent hours revising stuff that i didn't need....environmemal accounting? Couldn't work out what 2 do for expected values, had a go at throughput put I know I've got it wrong. Pretty tough paper I thought.
Kkhanasad15y ago#51
any body remember the ansure of TPAR ???????
Q3 was veryyyyyyy difficult,,,, the rest of paper was really lovely.....
Former userFormer user15y ago#52
What's so hard in the throughput accounting? I thought the examiner given us the bottleneck process, and even calculated 2 of the TPAR ratio for us? The "factory cost" calculation was also very straightforward - just add up the 250k with the salary of all the nurses and doctors. Did I missed something?
Former userFormer user15y ago#53
To b honest with u guys, that was a fair exam, it was just the time factor
Aali_zia4u15y ago#54
PAPER WAS BALANCE BUT VERY UNCOMMON TOPICS HE EXAMINED
NOT A FAIR DEAL AT ALL.
Ddianaa15y ago#55
how did u solve the pay off table?
Nnomipk315y ago#56
I did 4 full questions, left the flexed budget one as I had spent too much time on Q1 setting up the profit table. Can any body share how they worked out the profit table? I really enjoyed doing Q2, 4, and 5. I am hoping for a pass at least.
Former userFormer user15y ago#57
yeah question 5 was ok
Former userFormer user15y ago#58
Q1a has 9 different possible profits ?

I had the three different production levels on the right hand side (350,000 bags, 280,000 bags and 200,000 bags), and the three different weather conditions along the top.

The contribution per bag was $5. Depending on the amount produced and the weather, I basically did (Production x $5) - (Difference between Production and Demand x $0.50), as if they weren't sold it cost $0.50 to be scrapped.

That's what I put, I hope it is right as I'd like the 8 marks!
