I was wondering if anyone is looking into doing that Master ACCA offers with University of London
There is a booklet available at the Uni website describing the programme but the description seems very vague to me
I contacted University of London asking for more details but they said unless you register for the course, no more info is available
Does anyone else think that these subjects you need to pass sound a bit vague, ( I was looking at Pathway 2 as I have nearly all exams passed, fingers crossed for the last one !)

General ACCAACCA Masters with University of London
Does this degree has some kind of honours like in Oxford Brookes (1st, 1/2, 2/2)?
I am asking so I know if I have to push myself as much as I can and get as good pass marks as I can for ACCA exams (take 1 exam at a time and concentrate on it) or should I just aim for any pass mark?

I passed the GIFP module. It was tough to be honest. The topics were somewhat new and there is a lot to learn in this program. I would suggest you check the forum on your VLE and you will find links to whatsapp groups. The information shared on these groups are invaluable and extremely helpful.

From what I have read, there are categories. So targeting higher marks will get you a better certificate.

You need at least 2-3 hours a day. Like said here before, notes are not always clear and you need to do your own research and reading to understand a topic better.
As an auditor, you might have some down days so I suggest you make the most of them to read as much as possible. During the busy days, you will just need to make time and cut down on some leisure. If you follow the schedule the Uni provides, you should be good to go as per my experience.

The coursework and final projects are divided. The first course work will be based on theme 1&2 (6 topics). The second will be based on theme 3&4 (6 topics) and the project on the last two themes. The guidance the Uni provides for these are so clear and precise, you can't go wrong unless you haven't done the reading well. They give you the structure of how the writing should be and what should be included.
As long as you read and understand the topics, you should be fine.
I am currently doing this. 4 weeks gone by, I have no idea what I am doing, It seems I am totally lost. Really have no idea what to do and what to read.
May I know if failed and wanna retake it, do we still need to pay the same course fee of about 1500 again?
A second attempt cost around GBP650 in 2017. Its almost half the price I would say. Still a lot.
All material is provided by the university. You need to do your own research only when you do not understand it from their notes. They also provide a timetable. So week 1 is topic 1, week 2 is topic 2 and so on. Follow that and you should be ok. You need to put you mind behind it and you should be able to pass without any problem. So I suggest you to keep calm and focus on the reading.

Is it advisable to take the UOL MSc in Professional Accounting if I don’t have much work experience yet? They have a five year rule where you have to take competency exam if you go over 5 years from passing your professional exams.

Thank you all so much! Kyler@Kylerlu It can be done without work experience, although experience of industry is a big help, especially when you get to the research project element. As for the competency exam, that wasn't much of an issue when I did it, but different persons may have a different experience.

Can you let me know if there is any documents provided in preparation for that test and which level/ papers of ACCA this preparation exam is at? Any suggestion on how i should do the preparation?

It isn't a brain buster, just a simple course so they can say you have caught up with modern trends.

In my case, I could have probably finished in 6 months but I knew my circumstances so I did one module each 6 month period.
It would be awesome if anyone could give further insight on this, as I'm planning on progress to start the masters this year :)

I have just applied MSc (Path 2), but need to do a preparation course as I passed ACCA more than 5 years ago. It looks like the average study hours are more than 4 hours per day! Not sure I am able to catch up the pace of the modules, what it would happen if coursework deadline is not be able to meet? Full time working and looking after a baby is not easy though.

I will probably do one module for each 6 month period too as I have to work as well.

@adatan Jane is not on opentuition. She is thestudent coordinator for the MSc programme at UoL. As for the prep course, do not stress yourself over the time, just do it.

I just want to take the harder one during the period where company work is manageable and take the easier one during busy periods at work.

Also, how do you guys put this on your CV after completing the masters program? Do you put UOL or UCL? Or both? To put “academic direction.....” on a CV seems too long and i’ve never seen that in any CV.

I'm really sorry to be posting a question here that has nothing to do with the Masters but I really need this information. Do you have to wait for an invite from ACCA to apply for membership or can you go ahead and apply once you've met the requirements???

Hi @jerma, you can apply for membership online by logging in to your ACCA portal after meeting the requirements. You don’t have to wait for ACCA to invite you to apply for membership.

ACCA duration is 2 years and fee.. it would be around 450 pounds.

Is anyone doing or has completed the Mcs at UoL under Pathway 2? I would appreciate if you can share your experience. I would like to know if there is enough material available to pass the exam succesfully. How are the lectures, if there are any, and how is the enrolment process? Are the exam comparable with ACCA exams at professional level? How many hours should I plan for studiying on a daily basis?
