    Hi sir,

I do not have sufficient time to cover the syllabus area F, Other assignments

I want to understand that if I don’t study the Syllabus area F, what are the MAXIMUM marks I could loose?

I am asking this as AAA is pretty predictable paper. For eg, majority of marks in Question 1 will be from “area D” and can also cover “areas A B and C”.

There will be one sure question of 25 marks from “area E”.

Same way, nothing specific was mentioned for “area F” in kaplan Eam kit.
    Hence, Please guide.

    Short answer – 25 marks

Examiner’s approach indicates that there will not be entire Qs on “current issues” and often looking at an exam it appears that this is not examined at all – it depends on what the current issues are at the time and whether they “fit” with the scenario of another question.

To ignore “other assignments” is potentially to not attempt a 25 mark question and – frankly – you are asking to fail. When I was examiner (for 7 years) candidate who did not attempt 20-mark questions invariably failed.

I suggest you at least read our notes Chapters 26-31 https://opentuition.com/acca/aaa/acca-advanced-audit-and-assurance-aaa-notes – it’s only 25 pages to at least give you an idea of the issues.

Then when you attempt the exams in the CBE practice platform https://www.accaglobal.com/uk/en/student/exam-support-resources/professional-exams-study-resources/p7/cbe-question-practice.html you should recognise questions on these topics. Even if you can earn only 10/25 marks that’s better than nothing.

    Hi sir,

    Thankyou for the insight.

Also, currently my syllabus area E and F, both are pending. If I had to choose one syllabus area, which one would you recommend.

Based on what I had read in Kaplan, There will be one for sure question from syllabus area E. I wanted to understand if the examiner himself has given this insight or this could be comment of kaplan.

P.S – AAA is my last paper. In all my professional papers I was only able to attempt maximum of 75 marks due to my speed issues. Even though, I have cleared all the papers in first attempt.

    See the syllabus:

“Section B will contain two compulsory 25 mark questions, with each being predominately based around a short scenario which may relate to more than one client.
One question will always predominantly come from syllabus section E, and consequently candidates should be prepared to answer a question relating to completion, review and reporting. There are a number of formats this question could adopt, including, but not limited to, requiring candidates to assess going concern, the impact of subsequent events, evaluating identified misstatements and the corresponding effect on the auditor’s report. Candidates may also be asked to critique an auditor’s report or evaluate the matters to be included in a report which is to be provided to management or those charged with governance.
The other Section B question can be drawn from any other syllabus section, including A, B, C, D and F.”

The technical content of Section E builds on assumed knowledge of AA – perhaps it will not take as long as you think to revise – the auditor’s report chapters in our notes are VERY GOOD!

    Thankyou for your response sir.

Could you please confirm if the following statements have been officially made by ACCA:-

    1. One question will always predominantly come from syllabus area E , in section B

    2. The other Section B question can be drawn from any other syllabus section, including A, B, C, D and F.”

Promise – this is the last question for this topic. 😀
