PMPaper F5 Dec 2010 exam was

Ffartun15y ago#151
Hi,

The exam was very fair eventhough i left the third question because of un managed time from my side. Comparing to past exam paper formats actually this exam questions was more clear and understandable. As same to some of the students i did not make correct for calculating labour varience. Hope i will pass.

im anxious about the final results..
Former userFormer user15y ago#153
i do the best effort.. hopefully pass!!
q1. good,if u get all figure above.
q2.also good
q3. last question i do it.
q4. better good
q5. ok

@ovaiskhan
total time required for production was 2475 hours((650*1.5)+(750*2))
labour hour available were 2200,so 275 were gonna used by temporary labour....but as temp labour took twice as long as permanent labour they must have taken 550 hours(275*2)

so rate var = 550*(18-14)=2200
and eff var = 14*(550-275)=3850.
total var 6050...

i probably missed saying it took twice as much and didnt reconsile as i spent about 40 mins so i thought to go back but was no time to go back bcs of the grapgh i had to draw 4 times as couldnt see the point o the graph so i had to take more and more distance theni realised i had to draw grapg on list they give... so pity was well prepared... :(

Paper was OK , its student mistake who didnot prepare for Linear Programming.

Labour Variances was complicated, students didn't have time to think in paper.

Congratulations to all of you,we did it!:)

Could someone confirm my calculations:
Linear programmiong: x=2 000, y=333,33 ?
Please tell me that is correct...)

seems like mine numbers, do you remember shadow price - ?

It was easy for some. Your results are not correct. The correct answers are with 2 decimals..numbers

Well the truth is the examiner was SNEAKY, she knew the last papers topics will not be much expected by the students and she tried to catch us out. That is just plain nasty.

I was hoping for 80% when I went in the exam and know hoping to clear it.

But think in other way..Every student usually when preparing for the exam looks at the past paper..giving the same as it was on the last session would mean that you at least exercised it once at home..I think the examiner was generous. I was prepared for really difficult paper and was not confident as the past papers were really diffult, but these questions were really manageable, only the time would restrict you.If you overspent on one question -that's it...you miss 1 question..
Former userFormer user15y ago#162
it was the most easy paper of my life.
Former userFormer user15y ago#163
the exam was avarage for anybody who was aell prepared so lets jus wait for feb to tell if it was in our reach or out of
Former userFormer user15y ago#164
Was surprised how nice this paper was!!

tut tut to students who did not cover labour rate variance - this is basic and marked very harshly for wrong answers so i am told, happy that all my variances came back to what they had set!!

The public organisation thing threw me a bit but i assumed that means government haha and went with that, rest of that question was easy marks though!!

altogether i would say an easy paper, a shame i learnt the much harder stuff, but i am definately not complaining.

I liked both this paper and F6 (lots of complaints about that one - i found it quite nice) i think these papers were extremely relevant to the kind of scenarios we will face within the workplace and tested the knowledge in a way that requires you to understand what you are doing, not just how to copy a proforma from a text book :)

i was confused with labor variances...(

to be completely honest...even though i herd that this paper was hard...i found it very easy and loved the practical application (even though at first i did not like it). I studied the syllabus throughout...went in to the exams hoping for a 100-98% pass.

I open the paper and thought it was a GIVE AWAY-WHICH IT WAS!!!!!!!!!!! however i made some of the most stupidest mistakes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ABC and BUDGETING was very easy

I made a disaster of the linear programming question (the easiest ans my favorite question))-the entire thing-now that i look back-i could have done it and gained all 20marks however sadly i didn't (so mad at my self right now)

for Q2 time was against me and i did not get to properly write what i thought-i rushed it.

Q1 was very easy...however i though the 7MKS on variance should not have been there....even though i knew now i could have done it...15 minutes was left in the exam and i panic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now......even after severely beating my self up!!!!!!!!! i thought i would rather FAIL than pass by a mere 50-60% (some people will think that i am crazy).

If i pass thats ok...i'll accept and learn from my mistakes!!!!!! if i fail i will be disappointed but will ensure if i write F5 in 2011 i will pass with 90 and up %.

TO ALL U PEOPLE WHO THOUGHT THE PAPER WAS HARD!!!- ann irons wrote and entire articles on budgeting in the private and public sector in sep. 2010 student accountant- the entire question 5 was based on this!!!

MY BIGGEST MISTAKE IN F4 and F5 was that i misread the paper?
in linear programming i read but did not include one of the products limitation in demand!!!! how the hell did i miss that.

HOWEVER, the questions were time consuming.

I NOW want a pass!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! will do better next time!!!!

You're told that anything on the syllabus can be examined in the exam and you choose to second guess the examiner that's just plain STUPID.

Don't get me wrong I agree with you the paper was very easy but time was scarce and the combination results in a tough paper to an extent. The fact is we do not expect to see last session questions in the exam. We'll see in February.

You really are a piece of work. Do you realise this is a professional forum and do you think your outbursts are appropriate? Or perhaps you're just trying to prove your incredible intelligence.

I won't fail any of the four exams I took this session because I prepared fully and entered the exam hall expecting that any item from the syllabus could appear on the paper.

And by the way in the CFA program exam topics quite often repeat from year to year.
Rrajad201015y ago#171
@bridmw

Calling someone stupid is professional is it? Go suck your mum you low life thug. Learn about the etiquettes before going any further you idiot.

rajad 2010 - You really need to work on your reading skills. I said (and would continue to say) that attempting to second guess the examiner is stupid.

Your insults and outbursts are inappropriate for a professionally oriented forum, and I would hope for your sake that you know how to behave more appropriately IRL or else I think you will have serious problems achieving success in this or any other profession.
Former userFormer user15y ago#173
i also read all past papers,yet(my point of view), the variances of that paper needed more time to think&work through.I also found difficulties in linear programming.I agree that ABC,Q2&Q5 was the easiest of all,but it would be nice to have just 15m more to handle answers better..:(
i am really worried about final results.
Yet i believe we all did what we could.
Merry Christmas to you all&A happy new Year..(with an F5 pass..?)...perhaps?

Despite your efforts of trying to justify your insults directed towards me I still believe you did not have any right to disrespect me in a patronising manner. I stand by my response which was reasonable considering personal remarks made by someone who has no clue who I am. You are nobody to personally attack someone. The comments must be restricted on the topic concerned and anyone's feelings towards the paper itself, but not personal.

Anyway, that was yesterday forget it now and prepare for the next exams.

Labour variance was solved as total labour variance-efficiency variance=labour rate variance.
I too got confused at first but this was just a CAT level question
Former userFormer user15y ago#178
paper not difficult. question on labor variance a little bit tricky but with more time could figure it out. was writing non-stoping but not enough to write everything clear with proper references! ABC took too much time...though staightforward
Bbridmw15y ago#179
Rajad2010, your vocabulary obviously needs some work as well.

FYI

Reasonable:

showing reason or sound judgment;
fair: not excessive or extreme;
marked by sound judgment;

Definitely not how one would describe your responses on this forum.

I do think you should at least be enough of a man to apologize if you wish to leave this in the past. Your behavior here has been despicable.
