PMPaper F5 Dec 2010 exam was
What a mess!
If I've got time to copy the whole answer booklet again, should earn more marks :(
Hope for a pass only

linear programming
x= 825, y = 1275
OMG.. My answer was x=828.57 and y=1,257.15 :(
but the binding constranits is it:
1. 3x + 2y = 5000
2. 4x + 5y = 9600

yes, I had same results :)
I had the same results too. :)
Ummm so i got my labour variance calculations right
The way i saw it
it was 750 Tvs and 650 Plasmas
2,200 hours worked by permanent workforce, and total labour variance was 6,050 (A) for the temporary workers
2 hours on Tv and 1.5 on Plasma
So total hours worked - 2,475. Hours worked by temporary workers is (2,475-2,200) = 275 hours.
Labour rate variance is 275 * $18 = $4,950
Labour efficiency variance is 275 * ($18-$14) = $1,100 ($14 is the standard rate)
Total is $6,050
And also people sayin the optimal production is 1200 and 800 somethin are wrong because you can't calculate shadow prices that way. I got the same 1200 and 800 something, but i have heard that we will get atleast 6-8 marks for defining objectives and workings. And maybe a mark or two for shadow price if we show the method, even if our product mix is wrong.
Question 1 i expect atleast 12-14 and around 18 if my labour calculations are correct
Question 2 atleast 16-18
Question 3 max 8 marks
Question 4 was a gift, i expect atleast 16-18
And Question 5, ummm idk, around 12-14?
IT was an easy paper but very unexpected

I think there were 4 constraints in q3?
2 constraints for materials
1 constraint for skilled labour
1 for Lotion max demand <2000
no>?

Yes, 4 constraints.
Do you remember what was contribution maximise equation?

Yes Marcin, there were 4 constraints in Q3(actually should be 5 constraints last one should be x,y >=0)and 2 were binding constraints were contributed maximize equation which as follows:-
1. 3x + 2y = 5000 grams -material
2. 4x + 5y = 9600 minutes -labour
thus, the answer should be cream (x)=828.57 and lotion (y) =1257.15
The maximized contribution therefore : C=9x+8y =$17,514.33
From above equation we can get the shadow price for material was $1.84 and slack was 142.86 grams.
Hope all friends can pass the exam :)

ok, so i have it all wrong...
my constraints were:
3Creams + 2 lotions < 5000
1cream + 0.5 lotion<1600
Does anyone know when ACCA will publish exam answers?
Im very demotivated....in fact the paper wasn't that difficult but i've done many mistakes because i think i was too stressed!!!
I've try all my possible during this semester and yet it was as if useless...
A gud idea hw 2 change zis state of mind???help plz thx!!!!

Dun so disappointed, so long as you have working still can get mark :)
I didnt indicate the question
numbers attempted on the front cover of the
booklet? Is that can be a problem?

My permutation and combination did not work. I actually prepared and thought topics like Learning curve, Throughput, Risks and Uncertainty, would tested.
Anyway, I attempted ABC, Variance, PM, and faint trial on others.
I hope I will pass oooooooooooooooooooo
Merry Xmas and a happy new year in advance.

Paper was qute easy but still am not sure am gona pass it :!
q:1 was easy except labour variances
q:2 guys can u tell me how many of u prepare table calculations for financial measures like i ddnt prepare it seperatly just did in each heading e.g in sales growth i performd calculations about turnover etc... is it ok ;)
q:3 was a bit** didnt attempt it
q:4 was easy
q:5 is also easy excpet part 1

the paper wasn't difficult but i found it lengthy. I couldn't complete it. Lost a complete 20 mark question due to it:(
If i Pass THANKX TO JOHN if I FAIL still THANKS to JHON...whtever i did was owing to OPEN TUITION..but john plz guide students to calculate variance in a little quick way cuz i knew wht was going on with variance and what to do....but it was taking too much time!!!
OMG.....the paper was time pressuring.....i totally revised linear programming only to mess it up...got all the points...know how to calculate shadow price and slack but i included the FIXED COST and used that as one of my optimum point only afterward to find out that it was irrelevant!!!!! will ACCA punish me twice in part B for getting the points wrong?
pretty nice paper....was really scared b4 the exam. F5 is a done deal to God's glory.
