Nothing. It just means that you will not have benefitted from the University’s policy of maintaining anonymity in marking
September 5, 2023 at 7:12 am #691378Hi,
I’m planning to submit my RAP in P47 and i have a question.
The company that I have chosen for topic 7, announced the merger in 2019. But the merger was officially closed in 2020 and the FS of the combined company are also available from 2020 onward.
According to the RAP requirement – For November 2023 RAP submission,
merger would have to take place after Jan 2020.My question is, if the merger was completed in April 2020, does this merger satisfy RAP requirement even though it was announced in mid 2019?

September 25, 2023 at 5:27 am #692499Hi, I’m a new comer and I’m really overwhelmed about where and how to begin with the OBU RAP? This is the very first time I’m undertaking anything like this. What would be a good place to begin?
September 25, 2023 at 10:18 am #692505This is true for most students i.e. they have never done any academic work before and are overwhelmed. A good place to start is the OBU mentoring website as they have lots of resources there.
You will need to find an appropriate mentor. Not all mentors are equal when it comes to expertise and experience – word of mouth is a good way of finding one and alternatively we have two recommended mentors. Although a good mentor is not cheap they may save you money overall as if you fail each submission costs GBP 495 currently (so using a less experienced mentor can be a false economy). Also beware of any ‘mention’ who offers to write the report for you and telling you this is standard practice. It most certainly isn’t – it is fraud (and therefore a criminal offence) under UK law as is using a writing service and can result in you being barred from submitting again.
December 16, 2023 at 3:04 am #696859@trephena @gillianM Hi, I’m planning to write on Topic 3 which is to “Analyse and evaluate the impact on the financial performance of an organisation
of a recent change imposed by the regulatory environment.” What would be the two best business models to use in the RAP in addition to the ratio analysis?December 18, 2023 at 9:08 pm #697032This is an interesting topic and involves a combination of theory and practice and financial analysis. The actual models may depend upon how impactful the change will be on the organisation. The suggestions in the Information Pack propose conducting a pre-change SWOT analysis [so at the beginning of the analysis and evaluation] and a post-change SWOT – so probably the last section before your conclusions. Alongside this you would be using ratio analysis to illustrate some of the key changes in the financials as a consequence of the changes.
You might also consider some aspects of change management theory
March 9, 2024 at 11:57 am #702511Hi everyone, I hope everyone is doing well. I am actually struggling a lot with the motivation to get the RAP done. Also it feels like a very lonely process. Any groups for P48? on whatsapp or telegram?
March 18, 2024 at 6:08 pm #703141Sorry to hear you are struggling with this. One of the issues with the RAP is that there are 15 topics and therefore unlike exams, the experience can vary between students and not all of the advice is applicable to all 15 topics.
Perhaps we should try to ask more students to share their experiences on the different topic heads. Possibly one problem though is that once students pass, apart from posting their result or mentor feedback they tend not to return to the OBU thread.
April 1, 2024 at 8:13 am #703565Hi, my company is usa based company and has a year end of 31 December 2023 , can i use the 10 k report ? I want to submit in may , and the annual report is still not published on the website
April 12, 2024 at 11:19 am #703835Hi,
I have chosen the topic 5 for my obu submission, can you please help me select a good company for it?
May 9, 2024 at 10:44 am #705141Hi
I have included the in-text citation but forgot to include the reference in my reference list. This occurred only once, all the remaining in-text citations have their corresponding reference in the reference list. This particular reference relates to the annual report of a company. I did include the reference for 2020 annual report but forgot the 2022 one. But the source link has been included in my excel.
Please help, i am stressing out!!
Thank you.
May 16, 2024 at 7:03 am #705484One slight oversight like this should not be a major issue given your further clarifications above. Please do try to stop stressing!
August 24, 2024 at 7:55 am #710262Hi i need a suggestion. Can we use annual report reference in our Ratio analysis for topic 8 like can we take facts from the annual reports and refer the annual report its self or we need to search in google for external reference which is more likely not available. Please guide me for P49 .
August 24, 2024 at 12:17 pm #710272Hi i am new here and working on my RAP P49 topic 8 . Can some mentor guide me whether i can use Annual reports in a reference in my Ratio analysis ? or every fact should be external which is too difficult for my target company to be available
September 16, 2024 at 2:20 pm #711514P48 Topic 13. Result is on the 18th. I am growing increasingly anxious every day. I am even doubting all my work and its quality now.
September 18, 2024 at 1:55 am #711544Guys whats your P48 result?

September 18, 2024 at 2:08 pm #711555Hi everyone,
I have seen my OBU results today with a fail. I am completely confused, and swept off my feet. I’m asking questions constantly. I finished my ACCA with only failing 1 paper and others have won awards. So I’m not taking this lightly. I really expected more from myself. I’m waiting for feedback but I can’t get out og my head and I’m drawing. I’m wondering if I chose the wrong mentor.
I really need some help. I did not see this coming at all.
September 18, 2024 at 9:53 pm #711560Please do not beat yourself up Nyasha . I have been involved with the RAP one way or another since 2003. In that time I have seen it become harder and harder to pass. I have also seen students get Cs when they deserved higher grades and conversely been surprised when some work gets an A when I thought it was more aligned to a B and sadly also fails which I felt were unmerited. There is no simple answer…
Sometimes if you are unlucky , you get a marker who seems to be harder than many others. (The marking should be consistent but there will always be some variations in opinions). However the RAP is an academic piece of work and requires different skills from exams, success in one does not necessarily correlate with the other. I recall a few years ago a student who had been a regional prize winner being shocked when she failed and consequently reached out tto me. The marker felt the models she used were inappropriate and criticised a few other points. I am pleased to say after making amendments in accordance with the feedback she passed the RAP when she resubmitted.
So the questions remain are you to ‘blame’? Probably not. Is your mentor to blame ? Probably not. Is the system to blame? The jury is out….
