*** OBU Period 37 Results ***

At last I've received my email notifying me that I passed my RAP. Many thanks to this forum contributors and my mentor Gillian. Cant wait to receive my transcript

Congratulations to both of you! What time did your emails come through? I have not yet received any notification regarding my RAP, though it was a re-submission so perhaps those are being handled separately?

My email came in at 14:46 hrs

I have recieved an email l pass. At 1st attempt thanks to my mentor Marceline Madamombe and open Tution, especially Trephena for help. l am grateful and happy.

Hello everyone, I have received an email from OBU with details like this: "Dear Student, Congratulations on the completion of your BSc (Hons) Applied accounting/ ACCA programme with Oxford Brookes University!" I think that I have passed the RAP. Please correct me if I have any mistakes here. Many thanks in advance.

Yes that is the wording of the email my students have received. No one has been told their grade yet (and I expect they may have to wait until the transcripts are sent to discover this and their degree classification). Well done though on passing!

Do you know if your students all received their emails at the same time? Have you still got students awaiting results? Concerned for the reason as to why my result has not been communicated yet!

Hi scarletblaster I believe that the results are being sent by email most probably in batches. I haven't heard from all of my students yet but Frank above (one of my UK mentees) said his email was sent yesterday (13 May) at 14'46 However another student forwarded me her email from the University and it was received by her at May 13, 2019, 9:31 PM (her time) which would have been 14.31 UK time. It is nerve racking but I think perhaps more emails may be sent today so I hope you may get some good news later. Best wishes Gillian

Just had my email come through saying that I passed! So relieved!

Haven't yet received my result. Called the UK office and they said that emails will be sent out today and tomorrow. They didn't tell me my result over phone.. Still Waiting.

Do we know what graduation ceremony successful candidates will be able to attend? Waiting for June 2020 seems an awfully long wait!

I have received the email with congratulations too. It was my first submission but I have been trying to complete my RAP for the last two years. I got there in the end thanks to the extraordinary mentoring experience of Gillian, my mentor for the last few months, and the encouragement and support I received from her along the way. I would highly recommend Gillian as a mentor! The opentuition referencing guide and Topic 17 thread were of invaluable help too, thank you!

Received email with Congratulations:) Passed. I have chosen topic 18. Before i submitted, my mentor told me that i need to update part 3 for many things before it is ready. So I was not sure if i can pass... anyway, it is done:) two exams booked for June... congrats to everyone who passed:). Also thanks opentuition.

Still haven't received the result yet.. Hope today is not the last day in receiving the results..

Initially I was told the results were coming out tomorrow 17 May, so was surprised when my students started to email me to say they had passed. Today is the closing date for P38 -which always sees a mad rush of students submitting at the last minute Possibly the admin team is busy elsewhere dealing with submission issues. I am making enquiries on the inside to see what is happening re those still waiting for results And in answer to the person who asked about transcripts -my understanding is these will NOT be available online but will be sent out to your registered address.

I have heard from 10 of my 11 that they were successful (some were resubmitting having failed previously using a different mentor) - not sure about the 11th one (a resubmitter). My contact seems to think that all the emails have gone out.... possibly if you haven't heard it may be because you were not successful unfortunately, sorry to be the bringer of potential bad news - although remember Period 37 was chaotic and therefore I have a sneaky feeling a few results may be still be late - fingers crossed for you! If you have failed don't give up now - I know it is disheartening but often it may be because you were not given appropriate advice from a switched on mentor - and not a case that you are not good enough!

Even if a student is unsuccessful, the results should have been sent... there are many students who got result on time and were failed or referd to ACO

The process is normally automated but things went wrong in Period 37 and that is why the results are already 2 months late - a lot of what would have been system generated had to be done manually. This is why I said earlier there may still be a few results outstanding..... If you haven't heard by Friday a.m. (UK time) then you should email the ACCA Brookes office.

I jst called OBU office, they said delay is due to large volume of email being sent out and to avoid any errror they are sending in batches... told me to wait until 17 may

OBU is saying my RAP have FAILED to achieve a pass standard, @GillianM can u share some feedback if one have been through same. Examiner feedback will be provided by 24th May.

Sorry to hear that you have not been given a pass grade. At this stage it is impossible to give detailed feedback because there are 9 Assessment Criteria a RAP must pass (7 for the report and one each for the SLS statement and for the Presentation). Those sections you failed will be identified on the feedback sheet and the marker will have given some indication of the weaknesses that led to the decision they reached that it was not up to the appropriate standard. I expect it has failed on either Evaluation, Analysis and Conclusions (the most frequent cause of failure) or Information gathering and referencing (the second most common reason) or as is often the case both of these. I suggest you read the article on the Open Tuition OBU homepage on Evaluation and analysis and also consult the Open Tuition Ultimate Guide to Referencing your RAP as these may help you with these issues. Also on the Open Tuition OBU homepage is an interview in which I comment on some general reasons for failing and on my website I have a whole article on how to avoid common mistakes - these may both be useful for you.

@GillianM Thank you for your guidance. Can i appeal arguing that my result has not been fair based on assessment criteria and when i can submit my appeal to OBU?

I have also got the same message via mail from OBU apparently..
