I used the budgeted contribution and share it in the % given for both item then divided it by the result for both items by budgeted total items to get the contribution for each item to the budget mix a simple add the two budgeted items (it was like 1:1.8)

Regarding question 2, the question said that the constraint were labour hours and all three processes used labour hours. So all three processes had a constraint. Is this good reasoning or am i missing something? I forgot how many labour hours we had available. Any help?

Please can anybody remember what d instruction was for the question on maximin? I mean the variable cost.it was something like $12 or $11...it seems I made a grave mistake!

ABC -like was in study text and rev. kit. Nothing special. Cant remember amounts... Linear Programming - my results X = 20,000, Y=66,000 Sales mix and quantity - pretty easy, but contribution was tricky one. I think for X was 23 or 22 and for Y something like 16 or 18. Overall Fav. Variance. Probability and expected value of profit very logical. I don`t have pay off table but only calculations of expected profit of each. Here I made one mistake - switch numbers for variable overheads, hope examiner will give me a points, because instead of @$11 i calculate most @$12 per unit... Overall time is pressing and reading carefully is good idea, but this could be done only in home :) Transfer pricing - my difficult one, question was too detailed as info and I did only first part from the question - performance of two divisions and C Co company.

does anyone remember how many marks were there for q2)b)? And the marks split for Q4
CChris12y ago#96
I don't think any of the exam papers are very easy... Don't underestimate them!
RRobert12y ago#97
Can anyone explain the transfer pricing question. I really was stumped :-0
Former userFormer user12y ago#98
I think this was one of the easiest F5 papers I have seen. But I made some careless mistakes in q2 linear programming realizing that I confused minutes with the hours. Apart from this I think I handled the paper well. Hoping that I'm successful.

Does someone remember the constraints for lin. Prog. ?
Former userFormer user12y ago#100
Ev variable costs were for production of 100,000 £12 and for production of 100,000 and over var costs will go down to £11.
AAnton12y ago#101
Yes and booth Maxi min and ev was 35
AAnton12y ago#102
What did you wright for factors in budgeting regarding uncertainty
Sshynnilu12y ago#103
The paper was ok. i ve made silly mistake in abc..n i have not done the transfer pricing .n i havent got time to complete the teories..:( but most of my calculation are good when ive compared it with others.i hope i pass :/

I remember the question 1 Abc is the one of question of mock exam of BPP, yeah mock exam 2 Bpp2013 for june 2014, awesome

I have nt drawn the lines of maximum demand on graph ...nd calculated x and y by the simultaneous equation..so I wnt to ask ,how mch marks will be given

Inflation...unavoidable cost...slack by managers
Ffaizan12y ago#108
is there were any slack arise in linear programng question.

somebody HELP! i am a dead goose for F7 i need speed

I've just finished f5 exam yesterday tomorrow. I could manage 5 questions but after a good night, I've found that I made some stupids mistakes, especially in question 1. This was really an easy question with many calculations that I should have gained a higher mark, but I made a wrong division instead of a multiplication, so I derived a wrong ABC per unit (crying!). With question of Linear Programming. I found the optimal solution of 20000 of X and 66000 of Y, but I completely forgot entirely slack definition so I missed 6 marks of this. Question about the expected value was better done and I am pretty confident to get high mark with this. The question about Valets made me confusing about comment of its performance, but I completed it without being sure whether my comments were appropriate or not :). The question of divisional and transfer price was the most difficult for me. As my calculation, W Co had a much higher ROCE and higher asset turnover but lower operating profit margin than C Co. By the way, did you subtract the internal sales from C Co to W Co? I did not because I thought the investment center have to be held responsible for selling price, including transfer price if any (but I am not actually sure about it!). The transfer price, in my opinion, should be set up between the minimum level (= variable cost + contribution lost of transferred goods) and the maximum level (= 95%* current market price - distribution cost). But I am not sure whether it is right or not. I hope to pass this exam with 50 marks although it seems to be small chance to happen! Self-studying is saving costs and the costs saved is to take the exam again and again (crying)

Does anyone know when they will publish the questions and answers on the acca site? Thanks

The ABC costing was TRICKY, but I tried to manage it. It gave us Cost Pools: Set ups, Cost Driver: Number of batch. But down, thet gave us number of (units) in batch! This is NOT the number of batch! We need to take the total units for e.g Product X 20,000 units number of (units) per batch 500 units, we divide we get 40 BATCHES for product X ! This was the most tricky one then we allocate product x's cost per cost driver into 40 batches. I am not sure if it is this way to do it because most of all friends took 500 (units) directly =/ I am not confident about mine :(
AAshaf12y ago#113
I got only a difference of 0.01 cent for product X and yes using ABC product Z cost's is higher...

I think I did everything right in linear programme, but the careless mistake of using minutes against hours total. I was so careless Guys how could I be marked?
Former userFormer user12y ago#115
Hi. Paper F5 was fair. Can someone tell me in question linear programming if the equation should be in minutes or hours. In the questions as I remembered there was hours & minutes for example 30x + 40y=32000 hrs or 1,920,000mins. Thx
MMerciah12y ago#116
I think it was a fair paper compared to the past exams, but my time management was so poor that I didn't manage to finish question 5. question 1 & 2 were my favourites though I used a pencil on graph, hope I'm not going to be penalised for that. Fingers crossed..
Aammar12y ago#117
Q1 was sames as the question Q2 In BBP mock 2 paper
Former userFormer user12y ago#118
The paper was quite trick, i know most of the students underrated it that is why it was time pressured! All the questions were not as simple as students think! Needed more time and expertise! J M
AAhmed12y ago#119
Yeah in the reading and planning time i looked at the questions and said to myself it is a very easy paper but when started solving the questions there were these little things which examiner had twisted :P As for the marks in Q2 part (a) was 14 marks and part (b) was 6 marks. Secondly in the profit outcomes question i just calculated sales and deducted variable cost from it due to less time hope i get good marks on that :(
Nneharukshar12y ago#120
Thanks Michael I didn't see that perhaps I was so panic because I was short of time :(
