@alushatikah wow that's some good score Congratulations. I'm planning on taking SBL in March! Any tips or advice on how to prepare for it?

Passed with 55% on my first attempt. I am elated! Coming out of the exam hall I had no gauge on how the exam went. To those who did not pass, Do not give up! .my best advice, always aim to attempt two mock papers under exam conditions during the final week of revision to the exam and If you cant do that, you MUST DO ONE even if you feel you're not ready for the exam.

49… Did anyone try to file an appeal in Acca exams? Is there any chance? Or appeals never end up with good results?

@ranganaherath Thank you! I made short notes of the important models for SBL, then proceeded to do practice questions on ACCA platform and past year papers. Also, make sure to do timed mock, it really helps during the exam, just so that you can get used to the 4 hours duration. Points can be taken from the exhibits, at least that's what I did. To explain the points you should always explain on why the point is important as in "this means that...". Giving an impact is also helpful when you write your answers. Your explanation has to be detailed and relate to the exhibit. Always give extra points, just to be safe. Say for a 16m question (exc professional marks), I'd give 8 points + 1 or 2 extra points. At the same time, I would keep the professional requirements in mind. Hope these helps :)

Just to share my preparation approach fully based on free resources: 1.) SBL OpenTuition lectures and notes ~ 2 weeks (big thanks to Mr. Ken Garrett) 2.) SBL Past exam papers/mock exams ~ 1-1.5 months on ACCA practice platform (incl. 2 mocks in real-time 4h exam conditions) 3.) SBL ACCA Technical articles - all the time/ everywhere through mobile phone 4.) SBL Revision webinar of Mr. Ashim Kumar - 2x4= 8 hours priceless practical advices how to approach SBL No textbooks and revision kits! I'm a full-time employee with 2 children, and study late in the evenings (~3 hours) and weekends if possible :) . Good luck to everyone!

I failed the exam, 49% I am so upset as I felt that I did my best to pass. Study hard, revised, practiced mock. In exam I kept the time management covered all questions and I made sure I was not repeating myself also kept the answers to the point, basically followed all the tips from examiners report. Now I am so lost, don't know where to start with my revision with resitting. The most upsetting is I spent so much time preparing for exam, away from my children and not spending weekends with them, is nearly 3 am and I cannot stop crying. What do I have to do to pass? Please advice someone.

I felt like this after I failed it the first time (37). The second time, I took a more relaxed approach to it and focused on time management. I downloaded all 7 past sessions of the exam and attempted them once. I had 56 this time around.

Hello~ Please don't get disheartened. 49% is so close to passing mark. Exam questions practice is very crucial to get passing mark. For your next attempt, do as much as possible under timed conditions and I'm sure you'll nail it! Wish you best of luck~

Hi Nataliq, The point I’ve read more than anything is to tailor your answer to who it’s addressed to, I think it’s the main mistake people make with this. I’ve made this mistake too. A director will have no idea what a complicated accounting ratio means unless you explain it. Professional marks Commercial acumen - the effect on the business and how it runs Evaluation - how good is it compared to alternatives what the company had before Sceptism - whats wrong with the data the company has provided Analysis - how has performance improved Spend all your time practising how to write reports, letters, bullet point slides that are to the point. I don’t think the answers need to be too complicated - they need to be sympathetic to who you are writing to. Everyone’s failed something before - good luck to you

Spiro, congratulations on your pass! I was wondering is Dec 2021 was your first attempt on SBL and how long did you study for the exam ( I mean period of time) ?
IIeva4y ago#26
Passed with 72%, second attempt. First was only 40%. I watched Hassan Dossani lectures on Youtube. It was a game changer! Highly recommended. When I failed, I read through comments here and somebody also recommended this lecturer. So thank you to him/her, I'm finally done with ACCA!
