PAssed 59% fisrt attempt. HAve finished with all first time passes , self studying. I did in just under 24 months F1 to SBL despite missing one sitting because of exam fees . This was my formula throughout 1. Use ACCA materials extensively technical articles and never miss webinars 2. us open tuition notes. (other study packs are unnecessaily long esp the approved ones). 3. start question practise as soon as second week of study. ( you can never understand by simply reading notes 4 . sit mock exams in timed conditions. ( if u dnt have time split into 3 sittings ten mark strictly.

Failed first attempt. So sad. Please what's link theory. Can I still attempt in sept. Just wondering how. Low morale.

Passed. 70% first time. I did feel it was a really easy exam but the time pressure was insane. I did it with Kaplan exam kit and text book and Open Tuition lectures. In my opinion you need the following; 1) Time to study the syllabus properly. I work, so took 6 months to study rather than the normal 3 I take. 2) QUESTION PRACTICE!! This is so important. Normally I give myself 6 weeks of question practice but for this one I had 3 months. If you do that you get a sense of what the question is asking for and how to relate it to the the case study 3) Watch and re-watch the professional marks videos. These count for 20 marks in the exam and you need to know what you are supposed to be doing when asked to evaluate, analyse, etc. 4) Read the marker's comments on ACCA. They tell you what they are looking for. These 4 things will get you through this exam 8/10 times. If anyone is thinking about what they should do after this exam. I've done APM and it's very similar in style. GLA

Passed 72% and my ACCA journey is now over! Such a relief and a sense of accomplishment :)

I still failed at my 3rd attempt. first got 42%, 2nd got 39% and now i got 41%. Seriously i don't know what i did wrong.

I can not even tell you how many times I failed for SBL (previously P1)...... this theory exam killed me and thought of stopping my ACCA journey. Finally I have passed this time with 54. Just feel like to cry over happiness. 2 more to go but I am over the moon now! Thanks to Opentuition and ACCA webinar to recap the subject and the exam approach! I got 4 marks worse this time, i think it was easier when it was more technical knowledge than just general business sense

I attempted 68 marks and got 47. Still confident, will make it next time in shaa allah. This exam required good time management.

I failed second time and both times the same score 43%, very strange and I have no idea how to proceed.

My main advice to those who failed is read the examiners articles that have been released today on the SBL June sitting. When I first sat this exam I thought it went ok. Then I came onto the open tuition forum and saw lots of comments that really made me doubt myself and my answers. Things for example like many saying they'd ignored the grid format in q5 (which I had pain stakingly used) .. it made me kick myself at the time. And Q2a about how the scepticism view should have been aimed more at whether we should be sceptical of the comments of the expert reviewer. And many people using Models like Tucker's and SAF which I had avoided. Needless to say I felt very sure I'd failed. But reading the examiners article they have mentioned all of these points saying they were weak choices and did not score well and it turns out my original feel for the exam going quite well was actually spot on. Read every examiners article after you do the corresponding past paper. So many times they mention not falling into the pitfalls of models and explaining how candidates misinterpreted the requirement. I can't stress enough how important the examiners articles are for this paper. I studied for this in 4 weeks with a Kaplan text book, open tuition videos and ACCAs past papers and exam articles along side a full time job. I knew I'd left it too late (I couldn't even get on a tuition or revision course as they'd already all started) but didn't want to miss the sitting and I'm glad I didn't give up! There are some amazing resources out there so make use of them! :)

Second attempt and I scored 58. March 19 attempt, I had scored 45 though I was expecting 55. During weekends, I practiced past year question papers plus those in text books (Kaplan). I compared my answers with model answers and marked areas of improvements. While during other days I focused on concepts and theory. This approached worked for me.

Passed with 69% on first attempt Paper was issue/recommendation based and not at all technical Was nervous since SBL is the first ACCA paper that I attempted ( I have 9 paper exemption)

Failed with 46 :-( - I left most of Q4 due to time pressure. Can someone please tell me what everyone means by "Link Theory"? Thanks :-)

Hi, Can someone advise what 'link theory' is? And also - where I could get my hands on Answers for March/June Sample questions? Many thanks, Una
