June 7, 2018 at 3:28 pm #457496Hi,
The questions appears in both Paper-based and CBE are same of different? Because from the above discussion I found some questions which were not the part of my Paper-Based exam like Transfer Pricing and Zero-based budgeting
June 7, 2018 at 3:31 pm #457499We already mentioned before that CBE and Paper-based are not the same. They might similar questions but overall it’s not the same questions.
June 7, 2018 at 4:11 pm #457516i gave cbe exam it was for 110 marks 10 marks wont be counted but which question that we dont know
June 7, 2018 at 5:00 pm #457561I got the exact same exam and I agree with you a 100%.
I was shocked with Part A and B. The wording was confusing and much harder than old past papers and the specimen exam made me think it would be.The Ted singer question was pretty hard.
I had studied performance analysis, ratios, variances, even the demand equation with logs and everything else …all that hard stuff!! When I saw they were talking about EV and profit it kinda threw me off the track a bit so I will be resitting the exam for sure
Hope you get 50% though 🙂June 7, 2018 at 5:53 pm #457599I also sat this exam yesterday and got Ted and AA Hotel for Section C.
I believe I also got the EV of $242400 which has been mentioned already, however I only did it across 3 outcomes as I used weighted average on the Merchandise Sales (no idea if this was right or not, I thought 9 outcomes might have been too many for the marks the question was worth). I originally missed the 60% margin comment though as it was on the very last line and off screen and noticed it later as I looked at the Probabilities question and thought all my profits are showing higher than $250K so why is this question here. I then noticed the 60% comment and had to tweak my formula and then redo some of the comments on the previous questions.
I also got the Optimal Sales Price Question also mentioned, I couldn’t remember how to do the calculation so just guessed which I presume wrongly based on others answers to that question. I never got chance to master that calculation as didn’t have enough prep time. I spent far too long reading the materials and not enough on exam prep.
I left the exam not knowing if I passed or failed and didn’t feel weird or worried about it. I decided due to my study screw-up that I would go in and give it a shot and if I fail then so be it and I will resit it in December.
I know for certain I have dropped 8 marks although there is a chance 1 question was part of the 10 marks which do not count. Fairly certain the other 3 count due to content of the question and location in the exam. At least 2 of the marks would have been lost on the Goals question for AA Hotel as I ran out of time needing still to enter 1 more goal and comment on it for Internal.
Anyway war and peace over hopefully everyone gets what they hope for with the results.
June 7, 2018 at 5:54 pm #457600now i know why the passing rates for f5 are constantly under 40%
June 7, 2018 at 6:03 pm #457602I did the CBE. I had the AA Hotel question and the Rreducing RMD question. Hard question, but was definitely counted, as the 10 extra points were included within section A (resulting in 20 questions not 15).
I chose decision package 3, but I realise I forgot to add inflation to the Fixed Costs, was this just an Activity Based Costing exercise or was it relevant costing? I included FCs, but I know my overall totals would’ve been wrong.
I found 7 marks justifying the decision was too many and I’m not sure I went into enough depth? I said that it would reduce the political pressure as they would have 1) reduced their costs compared to 2017 and also 2) retained all of their services. I had the other 2 decisions as being more costly than the 2,188,000 from the previous year?
What did you write for the balanced scorecard question?
June 7, 2018 at 6:03 pm #457603How was it 110 marks ?
We had
Part À 15 MCQ 30
Part B 3 exercices of 5 ququestions each 30
Part C each exercice was 20 which gives 40
Total 100..June 7, 2018 at 6:11 pm #457605For the CBE exams there are 10 marks extra (these are not counted towards your mark and are included to test the standard of the exams). These are usually included within section A & B, as A had 20 questions, as opposed to 15 questions, these 10 marks were included within there. Even if you get them right, they will not be included with in your marks and are designed to be of the same standard as the other questions so that you cannot determine which ones are real and not.
June 7, 2018 at 7:52 pm #457625My section C questions, one was on transfer pricing + budgeting and the other was on costing & cost centres in a public service decision making scenario which was quite good.
June 7, 2018 at 8:32 pm #457633Hey Guys and Girls
I wish everyone good luck for the F5 exam results.
I really struggled in this F5 exam paper.
I found it personally quite a weird paper.
Got a quick question. Can they possibly standardise the marks if quite a lot of students did poorly in the exam?
Thanks.
June 7, 2018 at 8:39 pm #457636The results will be available on 16th July 2018 from 5:00 am onwards I believe so.
You can check your myACCA account.
After logging into myACCA. Click on “Exam Status and “Results” on the Left Hand Side Menu.

June 7, 2018 at 8:49 pm #457640I studied so hard for this exam answering questions every day for a month, used various texts and watched hundreds of lectures BUT still not confident re yesterday’s exam. I know we are warned that it’s not just calculations but part C was about 32/40 discursive in my opinion! I got decision package which seemed to test relevant costing and ABC, and then performance management Hotel which I initially drew a blank but went back to in last 30mins, but put new menu suggestion under customer, which should of gone to innovation maybe? Anyway The hardest bit for me was actually part A and B. And no linear programming or minimax regret, my favourites!! No planning or operational variances either!

Hi,
I opted the CBE exam for F 5 this time. Previously got 49 in paper based. The experience of CBE was not good. The following issues disturbed me a lot. During practice sessions there was not a like these issues.
1. Have to view complete screen rather than it will not go to next question. Even i have scroll up, down and left write, but received the message to view complete screen.
2. The subjective question Expected value have a lot of parts along with a small excel sheet at the last. The excel sheet was showing only 2X6 cells, means only 2 inches were in front of me. When i entered the values in first 2 rows i have to go down for the next values and i can’t see the above values. It should be complete excel sheet that i can see what i have calculated above rows.
I have lost my approximately 15 minutes due to the software issue. It creates the pressure and tension in the exam.
ACCA should improve the software functionality. The complete or more area should be provided for excel sheet to see the complete workings in a view.
One question or part then down complete page of excel, then go to next.
For second question word sheet was OK.June 7, 2018 at 9:27 pm #457648the overall exam was very hard but hope I get at least 50%
June 8, 2018 at 12:05 am #457672I had f5 yesterday and f6 today…
F5 complete mess..altough i spend alots of time on it ..its my second attemp and .. seriously much harder than f6 where at least there is some easy Mark but NONE in f5 …i was so upset …The MCQ were terrible part A and B and I got Decision making what was the only question I could see some hope and the other question about clinics I didnt even know what was that about
Any body got clinics in section C?June 8, 2018 at 12:10 am #457673@risselle said:
I thought the exam was ridiculous. I literally studied and practiced BPPs entire revision kit multiple times, exhausted opentuition resources and I still left the exam not confident in how I did. Every part of the syllabus I made sure I understood It with in its entirety. I’m so tired with ACCA. The way the questions came in the exam I was saying wth the whole time in the exam. This is my last paper for this level.I feel same..im gonna leave this f5 till end
June 8, 2018 at 7:46 am #457712For Section C, I had Ted EV and the clinics. I also got 242400 for the EV.. For minimum transfer price I put $210 as that was the cost of hiring an external therapist plus the transfer cost but I plucked that out of thin air which rarely goes well.
Overall, all multiple choice questions were harder than any practice/mocks I’ve done. Section C is what it is, at least it’s consistently difficult!
June 8, 2018 at 8:30 am #457722I think Section A was OK, although a lot of wordy questions with multiple responses required (which i hate!). Section B felt like it went well.
Section C i have the Expected Values question for some Popstar scenario, and the balanced Scorecard for AA Hotel. I felt they went OK, but i kept on doubting my maths on the EV question as i came out with more loss that profit!?!? who knows.
Pray for a summer miracle.June 8, 2018 at 9:03 am #457739I only put $10 for the minimum transfer price as I thought it would be variable cost of transfer plus opportunity cost, but they had capacity so there wouldn’t be any lost contribution…it felt very low, but I guess if one gives their reasonings etc they can still pick up some marks? Either way, I hated this exam!
June 8, 2018 at 11:32 am #457773I too choose package 3.

Pray for a summer miracle.I hate the feeling of the uncertainty after the exam, what was right and what was wrong. For EV I also had loss and resulted in such a small profit compared to the alternative..
June 8, 2018 at 2:06 pm #457809Hi everyone! I found the f5 exam very difficult. In fact i also found the mcqs difficult.
Can someone tell me the answers in the questions:
1. It had a questiob about environmental accounting. In fact it said that an electricity factory is going to install a new system in order to transform its waste in useful form for buildings. It asked if this is external failure cost or prevention cost. Does anyone remember the answer in this question.
2. I also had a learning curve question. It said that an item needs 10 hours for the firdt product with a learning curve of 80% that stops after 100 units. It wanted what is the time per unit after 100 unites but my answer was 0,07 while the only answers where 2,27, 0,10 etc.
3. In b section it had a relevant costing theme. It said that a product is making a loss but if we cease production we will lose 15% sales from another product. I remember putting as an answer that its relevant minimum price would be 395. Does anyone remember his answer?
