i think the worst part was section B - shadow prices. i couldn't even do any calcs so i went for B for all questions - at least one of them should be B?

@kumaren2104 said: For MCQ on bottleneck, I've chosen an answer like 'items before the bottlenck operate at the same level'... The question said which is not true ! So this is not true.
This one is true though. Goldratt's five steps are: Identify bottle neck Keep it running at maximum efficiency Then make sure you operate all other processes to the same speed as the bottleneck Then fix the bottle neck Then repeat the steps So I would have to disagree with you
JJosh9y ago#33
Wow, you're good??
Mmelonny9y ago#34
on the bottleneck question, I can't remember the question stating 'which is not true'. Is it just me or I didn't read the question read
Sshiser9y ago#35
that was horrible! I sat the afternoon exam. I mainly used BPP revision kit for my preparation and felt the questions on BPP are a lot simpler in comparison to what is in ACCA. this sucks. I have another exam on friday and i'm doubting everything ive learned via BPP's kit is enough to pass this exam.

1583333.33 - was that the answer for one of MCQ's?

I got that for the BE revenue question to achieve a target profit of 700k

For the sale manager question in section B, where it says who has the most responsibility for sales mix variances, what did you put? Answers were: - all of them -junior sale managers -senior sale manager -none I went with none, as the sales mix variance is controlled by the purchasing manager, not the sales manager and so is irrelevant Would like to know what you guys put
Mmelonny9y ago#39
yes $1583333.. 250 700/0.60 I forgot the formula though but I guessed right!
NNathan9y ago#40
@pmon4 said: Got something like...0.10 I think & also 0.35 or 0.45 for another
I can't remember what I got for those entirely. I know for sure I got 0.45, and I assume the same for the others as I was comfortable with the calculations. For the wordy one after that where it gives us the cost per units under AC and ABC which statements did you say were true? It was: -cost per unit of deluxe is more since it has expensive materials - can't remember the rest!
Mmelonny9y ago#41
@nathan488 this is sales like selling goods. this does not deal with the purchasing manager.
OOnder9y ago#42
i said Junior Sales Managers as in the question it said something like "They are solely responsible for meeting the targets" - and also agree, this is sales not production so the production managers would not be involved
Mmelonny9y ago#43
the question does not ask about how should be responsible but state how should be present.. I chose the senior and junior will be present to explain why the sales mix varied. the junior staffs were in charged of sales but the senior just set targets. I may be wrong tho. @oatasayar, you can't summon junior staffs without the boss who is accountable for any mistake.

I felt like this exam was ok at the time and I have come on here and now think I have done really badly ???

My problem was with the MCQ first linear programming question (shadow price). I put the optimal x (1000 units) and y (1800 units) in the labour constraint equation and got the answer but putting it in the material constraint equation, I got 24,000 whereas it was supposed to give me 27000. Then I thought there was a problem with the question.
CHCL Harris9y ago#46
For the linear programming was any of the answers A's??
HHetty9y ago#47
@pmon4 said: did anyone get buy in externally 400 y
I chose that answer too
CHCL Harris9y ago#48
Also what did people answer for the hospital question procedure 1 or 2? Also what did people put for the cost of the 9000 units? We were given the figures 5000 units and 7000 units?

i don't remember the hospital one but for the production units i think i found 40,000
CHCL Harris9y ago#50
That's what I put aswell. Do you remember any of any of the linear programming answers were A? Thank you
RRuth9y ago#51
I put none aswell cause they shouldn't be reviewing their own variances (I thought so anyway!)

@nathan488 said: We could try getting an unofficial mark scheme going? I'll start one and you guys can quote it and update with your own knowledge as I have grey areas. 1) About EV's - went with the highest EV as it was optimal profit and was neutral investor 2) material mix variance - I got 240 (can't remember if was Adv or Fav) 3) accept it on basis of RI but not ROI 4) item that ISNT a constraint of throughput was turning materials into cash as quick - as in throughout idle time is preferred 5) ?? 6) ?? 7) was this the one on a logical control access? - I put the encryption of data between two internal departments as I viewed the question as what controls prevent unauthorised access, and locking the doors to the IT systems, security questions and a fire wall all prevent unwanted access 8) junior HR fix to prevent breach of information- I put to have controls on the senior Information 9) budget increase in profit - I went with $500 increase 10) was this the target costing? If so I put "selling price is determined by adding profit margin" (as this is cost plus) 11) relevant cost question I put $50 12) ??? 13) ??? 14) ??? (ABC but can't remember) 15) environmental, I put all 3, as adopting it would make firms more aware of regulations/waste and so therefore would actually help reduce penalties Feel free to update questions if you disagree etc and of course the "???" Ones as I can't remember those ones Hope this helps you all out!
The missing questions were the hospital procedures 1 & 2... What would the cost be for 9000 units. Lifecycle costing pick one if 2 statements. What is the total revenue needed to achieve £7500000 profit.
CHCL Harris9y ago#53
@pmon4 said: Lifecycle costing question. Never heard of the term attrition @ 25% so ignored it. Does this mean life cycle of 4 years
Same as me I just picked the second statement think it was the lifecycle costs would decrease the longer product stayed on the market.

@charrison1508 said: Same as me I just picked the second statement think it was the lifecycle costs would decrease the longer product stayed on the market.
As did I, I looked it up on google too just now and nothing comparable comes up, the statement didn't make any logical sense anyway so I just went with statement 2 being true
NNathan9y ago#55
@pmon4 said: Went for procedure 2 re hospital Also re 9000 units worked out fixed costs of £1750 added £1000 for extra FC. Can't remember total
Can I ask why you went with procedure 2? I wasn't sure but I went with the cheaper one but said we can't tell (whatever the statement was) As its a hospital therefore public sector most probably and so isn't pure financial gain. When viewing t from the 3 E's, we'd want the one which is cheapest but also want to know information about the quality side since it wasn't just about price Any other people have input about this one?

same - i picked procedure 1 as i found it was the cheapest however we needed more information. i think the answer was C

Q31 was an exact replica of north land question june 2009, I remembered doing the question? Hope that came in handy
SSarah9y ago#59
I felt like the exam was ok, loved Section C, A was alright and B was pretty tough. Reading these comments has made me worried though!

Did you inflate the salaries and inspection costs before or after making the 2016 adjustions? Also did you divid the had costs by 61% and use that figure?
