Passed, thanks to God Almighty and Open Tuition. The questions in the September paper are exactly identical to a handful of past paper questions, with barely any change made. Guys – do not be dismayed. Keep going and you will prevail. The AFM lecturer is a Godsend, and absolutely brilliant at what he does. His work is par excellence and you will do well to listen to him. Good luck and God bless you all!! Thank you Open Tuition!! Good bye!

failed the 4th time with 46%. Honestly I did not prepare well for this time, as I was too busy with full time work, with a very long and late meeting on previous day before the exam date. I even considered to not show up on exam day but took the exam anyway. And the result is even higher than my 3rd attempt – which I put more effort in. So hope that my 5th attempt in Mar will be the last for AFM. Still have APM to go though 🙂 Good luck to all!

@aw77 But thats not your problem, the issue is on their part. Its their responsibility to ensure that the systems are in place before rolling out CBEs. Ask them whats the guarantee that it will not happen next time? It’s not just about money, the amount of effort/time you must have put in is more important in here.

Hi Shaned,
Who was the study material provider you used to prepare for the exam. I failed to the 3rd time and I need to change on my preparation technique and probably try another study source.

@SheilaaC used kaplan kit as study text and bpp kit to practice past questions. attempt questions from bpp kit at least twice (including mock exams at the end of the kit). You can start attempting the questions in kit while you complete the chapters from text. Please do watch the lectures available on this site, i even viewed F9 lectures to review the basics/fundamentals for e.g. for dividend valuation model because this is used in AFM to value a company. Specially the lectures on foreign and interest rate hedging are really good. Would have been in trouble if there were no such lectures related to these areas on opentuition. Personally i found acquisition area to be complex so if I would have to do it again I would focus on that because its my weak area. Also go through the technical articles, they are important, the last article was on basis risk so this will probably come in December. You can also refer to the comments by vapiano91 on https://opentuition.com/topic/my-personal-tips-for-passing-p4/

I passed AFM with 78%, finally qualified now. Well done to everyone who passed (the mark is irrleevant).
Keep trying to everyone who didn’t (question practice and time management was important for me)

Hey, I’m going through the same thing I’ve failed twice with the same 44 score. I was frustrated but decided to try again on December. We just can’t quit now. I’m considering just practicing lots of exams without studying the text book. I did the opposite the last two time, got comfortable with the material itself but I was nervous in the exam. Anyway, no good from quitting now, and good luck to both of us.

I have been preparing four months for this exam. And ACCA team did not allow me to start exam claiming they don’t see me due to my issue with my camera. Before exam I passed test with camera several times. My laptop is most latest HP X360 in the market and camera was on . I made photos from the exam with date and time in laptop menu proving the camera is on in both settings and front signal is on , sent them complaint attaching all photos but nothing, they just apologised that it happened with me and did not unfold the reason.

I failed so many times of APM, also someone I know still failed APM, I spent a year to pass APM, someone spent over 1 year to pass FM. So do not give up, you will pass your exam.

@SheilaaC . I got 43% in my first attempt but passed 74% in my second attempt. I did not manage time effectively in my first exam. For my second attempt I did a lot more question practice and used the cbe practice platform for my workings and answers. It helps to do the formulas quickly in excel and know where to put the brackets etc. I didn’t understand foreign currency/interest rate hedging properly by just reading the BPP book. The open tuition lectures in this area really helped me. I couldn’t get my head round it before that. Also, I used to read through sample answers after doing questions and highlight what I thought were key points. I used to do questions in categories to begin with. Eg. Week one; do all restructuring questions i could, Second week; foreign currency hedging etc. I guess everyone is different though and different techniques might work better for some people. Most important for me was trying to persevere, because I suffer from anxiety and sometimes it seemed the acca exams were getting the better of me. Anyone who sometimes struggles, believe in your ability and view the exams as a learning experience rather than a big obstacle that you have to overcome. I found on the days I was more chilled out and my mind clearer, it was far easier for me to study. Sometimes those days were fewer than I liked but I got there in the end and everyone who didn’t pass this time will get there too. Also, another useful thing i think helped in the exam was copying and pasting requirements into word processor rather than clicking back to the question page all the time. I then deleted the requirements when I answered the question. I actually didn’t think of that until watching a video on the study resource page a week before exam!

Hello Ore,
Congratulations. I noticed you wrote APM and AFM for September 2020 diet. I’m doing same in March 2021. Retaking APM after 3rd attempt and AFM for the first. Could you help with some tips on how to pass both?
Thanks -
