ATX** P6 Exam Results December 2012 and Genius Hunt **
Would be interesting to know how the guys with high marks prepared for the exam.
Opentuition does not support P6.
Were you self-studying or attended any tuition courses?
I do not know what I am doing wrong with P6. Thinking about switiching to P7 or P4.

This really help!

Thinking about switiching to P7 or P4.I got 86% and prepared with 150 hours if revision and did every question in the Kaplan exam kit and past papers twice. May seem like overkill but I gave up 3 months of my life and ill never have to do it again! I would start now by setting aside 3 nights per week, use Kaplan text books and do a couple of chapters a night. Just read and test your understandings, this should take 3 weeks. Then repeat. At the end of the chapter, do questions in the back this time. 4 weeks Then hit the revision book once, referring to text book if required, 4 weeks Then do again solo and any past exam questions, that should be enough :)

failed at 46 damnnnnnnnnnnn delayed my affiliation for 6 months , i passed p7 at 60 marks , the paper was not to fail shit . i was damn sick even i left the hall 10 times for the questions 2 i didn't make a proforma damn damn..

Any advice how to pass this paper? I would suggest to stick to the time allocation and anything which makes marker's life easier (nice presentation, bullet points as per marks allocation etc). I found the exam really hard so this mark came as a surprise. Also passed P3 and P5 and now I am an affiliate! Absolutely over the moon!

13y ago#46I passed finally with the perfect score 50%, so happy and thanks to all who took part in the study sessions, they were really good, I say to the ones who failed keep at it you will get it, I have sat this paper about 5 times and finally nailed it, Good Luck in June

I cannot believe this, I was in shock to see my result. I sat in P3,P5 and P6. I got time to prepare only p6... I did so much hard work and finished whole syllabus 2 TIMES! attempted 100% and was really confident about what i did. got 43% :(
Didn't even touch the book/kit/notes for p3, attempted only 80%.... and i have cleared it!. I have a question!!!.... why p3 and why not p6 ? :(

I think that an issue is that one can end up going into the exam hall knowing too much and, certainly in my case, run out of time to give the answer that is needed trying to get down on paper everything that you wanted the question to be and in doing so often miss easy points in trying to show the depth of knowledge that you have. This seems particularly true where everything has been learned in an academic fashion but one is still not completely at one with the subject matter. This happened to me with P5 where I could regurgitate the books almost word for word but it was only when I got to the stage where I did not have to think about the answer from a technical perspective but rather genuinely felt comfortable with the material and able to discuss with rational argument that I managed to pass that one. The key I feel is being able to argue points rationally with someone else of equal knowledge. If you can do that then you can pass the exam. For the run up to the June retakes try studying as though you are teaching the subject to someone else rather than learning it yourself. Also, if you have a study buddy that can really help as you are forced to show depth of knowledge rather than simply assume that it is there. But, whilst the above may be sound advice, like yourself I studied intensely for this one and came away with a fail. Then again, despite feeling that I knew the material I wasn't truly confident with it and I did struggle with Q1which threw my timings in the hall. Good luck with the retake. Fingers crossed we both come away with better results from the June sitting.

Please give tips on how to score high. I got 33%. I think I did not know enough and was really confused. The paper was a mess and looked a mess so not surprised but REVISION TIPS would be really useful.
I want to start from now!

failed my P6 (MYS) 37%. wish opentuition can offer notes for MYS variant :-)
