Have been taking p3 exams for the past three sittings and have failed, I don’t know really my main problem. All the others have not been so bad. What would you advise as the best approach, I have read the syllabus a million times, go through the text and seem to understand. I want to resit again this December and I don’t want to repeat the same mistake, what should I do?
August 23, 2014 at 9:45 am #191990I just passed p3 in junes sitting first time round and I really found it hard to get to grips with the application aspects of it. I came out thinking I failed as I found the scenerio really lengthy.
In my mock, I was told I used the wrong model and lost 25 marks and I was mortified as to how that happened and I realised that ‘competitive environment’ meant SWOT and not PESTEL as I misread the question and another thing was I was not applying my knowledge and you need to only write what is relevant to the scenerio otherwise don’t mention it.
You say you read the syllabus a million times and seem to understand it…have you done the practice kit? that is the key and in timed conditions.
August 23, 2014 at 7:13 pm #192064@ ruvarashe: sorry to hear about your P3 problems. You don’t state your mark so I don’t know how close you are.
However, I am 99% certain your problem is not knowledge of the syllabus but answering the questions properly. For example, hardly any questions ask for theories to be explained. So on a question about Porter’s Diamond (competitive position of nations) you would be asked to apply his theory to a scenario. You will get NO marks by explaining the theory.
There are three things you must do: practise questions, practise questions and practise questions.
Don’t read the texts again unless you need to refer to them because of something in the ACCA model answers.
