General ACCAMarch 2021 Remote exams - booking window opens on 25 January

KimKimTutor5y ago
The booking window for remote exams opens on 25 JANUARY. We strongly recommend you book as soon as possible to ensure you can reserve a time and date that suits you. Read on to find out more about remote exams and watch the step-by-step video which outlines how to book available here https://www.accaglobal.com/gb/en/student/exam-entry-and-administration/computer-based-exams/on-demand-cbes/remote-on-demand-cbe-info.html. Remote exams can be taken in any private, quiet space. Upon booking, you will be given an exam start time, just like centre-based exams. You will complete the exam in the allocated time, under the same conditions as an exam centre. The exam will be invigilated remotely by a real person via a WEBCAM. It is YOUR responsibility to ensure that the requirements are met to successfully run the exam from a remote location. You must complete a SYSTEM CHECK in the LOCATION and on the DEVICE you plan to use in the exam which can be carried out easily and quickly via Pearson Vue’s website: https://home.pearsonvue.com/acca/onvue You must also ensure minimum technical requirements are met using this checklist: https://www.accaglobal.com/content/dam/ACCA_Global/Students/Remote-exams/Minimum spec.pdf

Hey, Just a quick query regarding the requirement for there to be no sounds otherwise they will void the exam. I live in a house share, and I will of course tell them not to make any noise near the room etc, but just wondering how strict are they on this? For example will they hear them if they are on a work call or if the doorbell goes and they answer it? I just want to be prepared, as I don't want them to fail me due to hearing a noise in the background that's totally unrelated. Thank you!

@amanicma - the calculator issue is one I raised with ACCA and I also advised all students who raised the matter on this forum to report it as an exam issue. So I would hope that all proctors are properly advised on the issue. I will be raising it again with ACCA before the exams are sat and if there is any further guidance on the matter of calculators I will post a separate thread to this forum to draw students' attention to it. I do in any case recommend, however, that you should practice with the online calculator embedded in the exam software (e.g. using exams in the practice platform). That way you will be prepare and covered in any event. You would be better to ask John for specific advice using the Ask the AFM tutor forum but I would say based on what I know of the Applied Skills exams that the examiners (PM, FR, FM) specifically report that candidates must NOT simply "plug" numbers from their calculators. If you make any mistake and your answer is incorrect you can get no credit if you have failed to show your workings. Also, there may be a specific instruction to "show all workings".

@bakesbrooklyn Is this what you are looking at or something else? "You must take your exam in a private and quiet room for the full duration of the exam." I take this to mean that the room in which you sit the exam should not be disturbed - non-one knocking on the door or calling out to you, for example. I think in any room there may be the possibility of some background noise but it should only be occasional and not excessive - the invigilator/proctor/webcam should not perceive there to be background noise which blocks out the quiet noises of you sitting the exam - tapping on the keyboard/calculator and the occasional sniff or sigh - hopefully no sobs. I think you should bear in mind that if in a centre-based exam there was undue background noise, a candidate could claim mitigating circumstances. Other than due to some force majeure/force of nature affecting your ability to sit an exam remotely, you will not be able to claim mitigating circumstances for mere noise that is a known and regular occurrence when you are booking to sit the exam.

Is there anyone who still couldn't register for March exam because there is no "at home" option? I have deleted the cookies and all browsing history as suggested by acca customer service and tried open the webpage through other browsers but still no at home option appearing in my account. So frustrated at their outdated system!
KimKimTutor5y ago#78
@jam090909 - you do not say what exam you are trying to register for - if strategic professional, CBE is not available until September 2021 in USA https://www.accaglobal.com/vn/en/student/exam-entry-and-administration/computer-based-exams/strategic-professional-cbes.html

Hi Kim, thanks for your reply. I am trying to register for ATX and SBR. I did not book an exam prior to January 25th. My understanding is that the remotely administered exam should be available to those who are in areas affected by the cancellation of center exams. I took SBL remotely in December, but that time I booked a center exam prior to cancellation. As of today I still do not have the "at home" option in my exam planner, but in last December that option popped up right after my prior registration was cancelled. So does this mean I have to have a cancelled registration in order to be eligible for a remote session? Thank you!
KimKimTutor5y ago#80
@jam090909 – I understand what you are saying - I think the best thing you can do is contact ACCA directly https://forms.accaglobal.com/contact-us or your local office https://www.accaglobal.com/vn/en/footer-toolbar/contact-us/global-offices.html#USA Maybe your myACCA account requires some reset - I just don't know - sorry!

Hi I've emailed ACCA but not heard back yet so wondered if anyone could help? When trying to book my remote exam for APM on the ACCA page - it gives 3 options of this exam to choose from. Does anyone know what the difference is? Below are the references: 1. CBE_APM_NA_OP_F1 2. CBE_APM_NA_OP_F2 3. CBE_APM_NA_OP_F3 Thanks, Shannon
CChinedu5y ago#82
Please is there anyone here from Toronto writing ACCA exams, I really want to make enquiries, please reply!!!
Yyue5y ago#83
@Shannon I believe these are just different time slots. 1. CBE_APM_NA_OP_F1 2. CBE_APM_NA_OP_F2 3. CBE_APM_NA_OP_F3

Hello, I'm from Toronto and I just want to if any one else here is taking March or June 2021. I understand that centers are closed for Covid. Has anyone tried registering for June exam and if so please what are the exam centers in Toronto. Seems none showing. If you have any information please let me know.
CChinedu5y ago#85
Hey Hinna, I see you are from Canada too. What are the test locations? Can i message you for enquiries, I'm really confused here
CChinedu5y ago#86
Hey guys, My question is this. I'm from Canada, Toronto and I'd want to take SBR in June. I tried booking but the center showing claims they have not been authorized for conducting ACCA exams. I was so confused and decided not to book. I'm very skeptical as to wait till after March diet passes but then that's extra cost. Please I need advice as to what to do. I want ti take it June 2021 but I don't seem to find locations in Toronto, Canada. Can anyone help me please?? @Kim Smith.
KimKimTutor5y ago#87
@shannonmcnamara - ACCA advises that you just select one - any one - and on a later page you get to choose start time.
KimKimTutor5y ago#88
@chinedu123 - where are you seeing "the center showing"? As far as I am aware, ACCA does not advertise centre locations as they are not "cast in stone" and often change. Of course, some of the big venues are better known and don't change because in locations where there are huge numbers of students there are not that many large venues suitable to hold exams for ACCA to choose from. Where only a small capacity is needed, ACCA will have a lot of choice about venue and will change from time to time. If you are looking at the listing here https://www.accaglobal.com/gb/en/student/exam-entry-and-administration/computer-based-exams/on-demand-cbes/cbe-centre-list.html these are centres for ON-DEMAND CBE (i.e. applied knowledge exams only) and not to be confused with centres for "session" exams (the week windows in Mar/Jun/Sept/Dec for applied skills and strategic professional).

I can not make a booking for the remote on -demand CBEs exam for March 2021. Can you help, please
KimKimTutor5y ago#90
@sidemudia - this thread is about remote "session CBEs" - not on-demand CBE. See here for remote on-demand CBE: https://www.accaglobal.com/gb/en/student/exam-entry-and-administration/computer-based-exams/on-demand-cbes/remote-on-demand-cbe-info.html
