Hi tutor,
The case states a fraud being committed by petty cashier to pay for a personal taxi fares of $175 following the review of petty cash transactions by the audit assistant.
Regarding this particular point, the answer given is the amount of $175 is clearly immaterial to financial statements, and therefore does not represent a potential source of material misstatement caused by fraud. Further action being the auditor should review the petty cash records for evidence of any further irregularities, and discuss the matter identified with management.
I have difficulty in understanding the further action part. Can I say something for further action as follows:
Auditor should increase original sample size and extend audit testing on petty cash to identify further irregularities, and discuss the matter with management.
Does my answer mean the same as the sample answer?
Thank you.
