This exam was absolutely bojangles, where was everything that i have studied for months on end, now i am going to have to repeat this exam in Oz in December, i am currently in Ireland and emigrating soon, does anyone know if this is possible that i can change my exam centre to a different country? I am convinced my dad would have been able to answer that exam and a majority of the discursive questions, in hindsight a majority of the exam could have been answered with common sense but when you are in that hall that common sense quickly floats out the window and you still keep asking the questions where is ROI RI and EVA, heck where is Corporate failure. Weirdest exam i have ever sat.

Discursive questions were very open and confusing - not sure what they really wanted. It feels like the examiners formulated the answers first, and they came up with the question to suit it. Trouble is, we can't read his mind well enough to intepret the question!

Also, did anyone notice the mistake in Q2? The heading of the probability table given. It should be "no. of students" instead of "student fees".

Yeah! i was doing that question and said to myself: this is wrong, it should have been no of students and not fee per student!

The paper was just awful.
Ttrinistudent00116y ago#64
I actually attempted all the parts of the paper. Surprisingly too! It was one hour to go....and I still had the two optional question and from Q1(b) to (d) to complete. Practically the whole paper. God knows how I did it. The actual average cost question in Q1 really confused me and I was afraid to give up all those marks. I ended writing some crap, hopefully I may pick up a mark or two. I was just so desperate to fight for my marks so I can pass and finish this thing. I am so tired, cant see myself repeating again. Hope my effort doesnt fail me.

How is it possible to complete all the answers in the given time???
Why isn't there a separate time management paper so I can prepare and attent that one only.. Each and every exam I'm attending at ACCA I have to pray that my knowledge matches the inspiration for time management.. it becomes very obvious that ACCA wants to earn more and more money from the failers... :((((((

Viewing all your comments I know that I am not alone.

I assumed yes. And figured out my answer based on this assumption :) Wrote sth like "this statement will assist much, as the company will be able to compare if current costs are in line with that of the market (i.e. the concept of target costing means taking the market price first, then required margin, and then costs).
And what did you write?

could sum1 jus tell me how u calculated da riding lessons for Q2?as in i wud jus remind u of da question data given- 240 horses, each providing 4 classes in a day n da school operates 360 days in a year except for 40 days were each horse takes rest!
EV-i dnt knw wat crap i did n also ws not familiar wid VFM audit! :'(
I assumed da same for cost target to b target costing and wrote as da company is operatin in a homogeneous market where substitues are easily available, target costing wud prov to b da best to keep costs in control n earn desired profit margin!
Former userFormer user16y ago#69
240*320*4=307200*80%245760 rest i dont remema:)

I'm moving to australia myself in september so will definitely be sitting the p2 paper over their and any that I fail this time round. What part are you going to? Will maybe see you for the resit, will be strange doing exams late in the evening!

The exam was ok unusual though VFM, three
Es? Didnt expect that. No calculations. far from what i expected. At least no learning curves and probabilities i didnt touch. Believing for a pass.

thnx...i did da same...i jus wanna make sure to get marks frm here n there,sumhw....dnt wanna repeat exam!its da worst feeling ever!!!!!!!!
Former userFormer user16y ago#74
That was a bit weird.

I started with q5 then moved to Q1, then Q2 and started from Q2.c. Finished with 20 minutes for Q3.

yeah...no EVA, no ROI, no MR=MC, no transfer pricing, no NPV, no TQM...unusual.

Still believe in pass.

Oh no~~~ I multiplied it by 325 days, which means I got the profit figure and EV wrong! But hopefully I can still get marks for applying the corret principle.

you can definitely sit the exams in another country. I used to sit in the UK and now in US. You can do this when you enter for your exams in Dec, but you might have to pay for additional fees as most international centres are special centres.
Pprinceacid16y ago#77
guys what did you write about part C of VFM question i.e. Q 3?
Ddineshhh16y ago#78
Lol.. It was really damn easy paper, i had short time left at the end.
Paper didn't meet any expectations, it merely required to keep on commenting.

Calculation of Cost per consultation in 1st question was little technical but i guess i made a good attempt. I've almost attempted full paper, looking forward to achieve good. marks.
Thanks Natka, i am amazed how could you remember all the requirements.
Former userFormer user16y ago#79
I personally thought this exam was horrid.
There was nothing in it which was "hot tipped" by Kaplan eg. Corporate Failure, NPV, ROI, RI etc and it was very discursive.
I messed up Activity Based Management comments and 3 reasons why Government set up Academy ??
This is my last ACCA exam and was hoping to be feeling confident now for the rest of Summer but just feel like I am going to have to resit it again in December.
Also last exam by current examiner which he obviously didnt put much imagination into so when resits come around it will be the first by new examiner so his style will be completely different - FANTASTIC !!!!!
Former userFormer user16y ago#80
Oh I forgot to say that the exam paper is on ACCA website so you can have a look at it again if you really want to :)

Yeah, this is the only thing where my memory is almost excellent :) Always remeber the requirements very well.
Not so good at remembering all that staff from the kit, unfortunately ))

Have the same feeling... Was sure this is my last exam after a good attempt at P7 this session (at least, I feel it was much better than during P5). When P7 was over, I smiled and thought, "Only P5 is left, which means I am almost ACCA qualified, P5 is so easy to go".
Maybe I was too confident, which lead me to failure...:( The first time when I am sure I failed. Though have never resit any paper...
Former userFormer user16y ago#83
P3 as usual , Q 1 absobed more than 1 hour 45 mintues and without being able to attempt all questions of the case properly
Former userFormer user16y ago#84
The papers are not difficult only if 4 hours are given to answer! Few big quality problems in this round paper setting.
- The requirements for most discursive questions are not clear by itself.
- Question 2 takes up too much time of candidates. I want the marks from calculation but is it worth trying?
- Did someone mentioned an error in question 2? I think so...
Oowenatu16y ago#85
I didnt dare answering probabilities..i knew it could take me years. But i wonder those who tacled it how dd u manage your time? But hey the exam, true, was full of noncalculative. I add up the my marks...am worried. paper was easy prima facie! But hey time.
Former userFormer user16y ago#86
hi all.to be honest, the paper was very fair.i think the key to passing this paper is just to read the text once and concentrate on your BPP exam kit,REASON;the examiner likes to pick from old questions and change them a bit.the number one question(7 marks)is somewhere in bpp kit.then that EV question too is in the kit, even though he changed the format.generally,if you check the past questions,u'll see that the examiner is not so interested in alot of models in the syllabus....ive termed them "distractions"!!!!i think you should just read them but do not concentrate on them too much.i hope to get at least 50 but if it doesnt turn out good,i will happily write it again!!!
Ssunnyfish200116y ago#87
Where is the info coming from? eaminer will be changed in Decmber 2010?
Sshasuh16y ago#88

Sshasuh16y ago#89
