or no i think i write wrongly the claims ...i stated why they have claims instead of what claims they are ..i juz wrote the involuntary group stated there are bad consequences , didnt wrote they want to close the business ....so sad...

Hi,

I used the AAA framework too to advise Mr Shreeves as it was the perfect fit, he had 2 decisions to make and we needed to advise on which one is best and I thought a framework for ethical dilemmas was needed. lets hope we got it right.
Former userFormer user16y ago#63
I thought i did quite well, but after all you said, I dont feel any confidence at all now! My second attempt, dont want to fail again......
Former userFormer user16y ago#64
Definitely not enough time to much to read in the scenario for question 1.
Did not get to question 4b, NO Time.....
Kkeano00716y ago#65
Very surprised as the questions only covered a small part of the syllabus....wasted valuable time studying P1 when i could have spent it on P2!
It was more like a use your common sense paper....although having said that i never thought to use Tucker or AAA model when constructing Mr.Shreeves ethical arguement....DAMN!
Also compares to previous sittings it was a very time consuming paper.....left 16 marks behind.
Ah well all i can do now is hope i get a fair correcter!!!

is the society (general public) one of the invoulantary stakeholder??
Former userFormer user16y ago#67
Iam also for q4 part c used AAA model but iam not know what examiner want for the paper i do well this time and hope pass
Former userFormer user16y ago#68
voluntary and involuntary stakeholders are discussed in one of the technical article and most of the question came from articles too like the AAA Framework for Q4 last part..i did the same as you emmanuel..not sure its right or worng but does fit the question tho~

The 5o marker was soooo long OMG ! it was horrible.

Voluntary i wrote that they have a choice to be stakeholders or not e.g. employees can look for another job & involuntary i wrote things like the colony of seals - they are an involuntary stakeholder coz they have no choice and cannot move from the area.
What you said crossed my mind and i wasted a lot of time thinking about what to write !!
Jjudith1216y ago#69
it was fair i was not that prepared but answers were in the scenarios i hope i passed.!!
Former userFormer user16y ago#70
the comments are really helping me to know I wasn't alone. It's my first attemot at ACCA and I was thinking there was something wrong, the Q1 was soooo long, I spent 2 hours on it, and I rarely used any book knowledge, all was quite common sense. all the best everyone!!!

I used them as an involutary stakeholder and talked about them being postively affected eg jobs, economic development. I also put down NNN and put down neighbouring countries as one point but divided that Beeland and Ceeland.

the exam was a bit long too much reading- the case studies for all questions were too long

this is very important ... please do tell who did you classify as the VOLUNTARY AND INVOLUNTARY stakeholders? specially the 3 INVOLUNTARY stakeholders and their clams?

Voluntary
* Gov who owns 100% of the Company
* Trade Union
* Suppliers

Involuntary
* The 2 Governments mentioned in 2 paragraphs who claim that the plant was contaminating the water. One of these country was close to the plant and was getting affected due to the water pollution. whereas the other company does not seem to have valid claims as its situated quite far from the plant.
* the Pressure group (Environmental group) - the Seal species would be affected and their natural environment disrupted. leading to extinction of species.

pretty sure pressure groups are voluntary.

is the agent the board and the principal not the entity that is "the company"?? seen's as a company is a seperate legal entity from the shareholders-who in this case are the goverment???

I said that the agents were the board and the principal was the government. I also said though that the government were effectively agents of the people of the country, who were principals. Probably wrong.

I started preparing for this paper the night before! I didn't have time to attempt any revision kit numbers. During my last min reading, I just read the COSO framework, the CC, a little bit of Turnbull and something small on risk and corporate governance. So with this little preparation, I was quite nervous at the exam hall. But, thank God, I quickly tried to compose myself because confidence is the key in passing! You can have all the knowledge in the world but it may not be of help if your confidence and composure at the exam hall are low!

In the 15 mins reading time, I was so excited to see Q3 because it a basic knowledge area for the principles and rules-base approach. Next I went to Q1, and when I felt I was running out of time, I left space and went to Q2 and later returned to Q1. Time management is always important.

Hurrah, I'm done with my exams! Success to all those who are doing P3. I hope we all pass! Enjoy your summer everyone...

Voluntary and involuntary was not a well studied area as many didn't expect it will form a big question. I just said voluntary who are taking willing participation in the activities and decision making and involuntary who stays away from the actual operations but still have interst in the entity.

Studied decision making , behavioral and ethical theories. Expected risk managment and internal control will make high mark questions.

Overall it was not easy. Hope I can get thru.

Question paper is out - https://www.accaglobal.com/pubs/students/acca/exams/p1/past_papers/p1/p1_2010_jun_q.pdf

Are people positive that a decision making model such as AAA was relevant for the last part of 4? I personally didn't think that the examiner was expecting that at all.

I felt that the questions are a bit too tough for Section A, can't figure out what the requirements of the questions, case study was too long and not enough time to finish all the questions. It's really a disaster.
Former userFormer user16y ago#83
i thought question 4 was talking about professional vs employee dilemma... i hope it is.
but generally the paper was pretty fair it was exactly what was predicted of the examiner.
Former userFormer user16y ago#84
paper was not bad.pleased that i identified involuntary stakeholders correctly.hoping for the best
CChosen16y ago#85
Seals according to the examiner's article could be called Indirect s/o.

I classified NNN (defendants of the seal)
as such.
Former userFormer user16y ago#86
It was horrible.....couldnt actually figure out as to what to write exactly for the question...
On one side...there is time pressure ..on the other side...confused as to what to write.........!
Former userFormer user16y ago#87
Was fair paper, could give all questions a go, save for time; didn't finish again, I hope i pull through!
Former userFormer user16y ago#88
Compared with P3, it is not too hard.

I cannot believe ACCA have published the answers to the June exams on their website in advance of the results coming out. I felt quite confident I'd passed P1 in June but now I've had the opportunity to look at the answers it looks like I've failed, thank you ACCA for putting me through another 5 weeks of anguish that I didn't need....
