Word count - Report and SLS (Self-reflection)

That should be sufficient - just ensure that the MS Word word count comes up at about 7,400 (or lower) to allow 100 for the graphs and charts and you should be OK. Up to you if you want to count the other words but a marker will rarely have the time and would normally only do so if they are convinced that 7,500 words have definitely been exceeded (which your original word count at 7,494 would have indicated that it did!)

Hi, My RAP is 31 pages (word count is 7,400 words) is that too many pages? I used single and 1.5 spacing to make it easier to read. Thanks

The number of pages is immaterial. Spacing is always a good idea as you say it makes it easier to read and other students should follow suit. 7,400 words should be fine provided that you do not have many pasted images and graphs that are not included in this total.

What is considered many, I have eight graphs and 2 diagrams not included in the count ?

It is not the actual number of graphs but the actual total words in them!

I have sent the report with 7503 word count in total including footnotes, when I excluded footnotes and headnotes the word count was 7471, Now I am that whther my project will be marked or not. please tell other solution possible. I have sent email on 14 May 2019. I have sent stating word count of 7471 as it was shown on the word document, but after sending the file, I went to count words through review (review-word count) there was box untick that was whether to include footnotes or headnotes, I ticked that box then it showed word count of 7503.

As mentioned in one of my posts above the rule is that markers stop marking at 7,500 words roughly and,therefore the Conclusions have to be mostly within that limit. As long as you did not post your contents page as an image and had tables pasted as images you should be fine. However if there are such devices used to circumvent the word count then a marker could be strict about those as technically they also count. For this reason I advise my students to keep their words to about 7,450 so the report falls with the limit and allows for words in graphs. BTW with the SLS the word count is not so critical for although the counting stops at 2,000 words, as long as there is adequate selfreflection and all 4 questions have been attempted (and there are some appropriate,sentences in the last question before the 2,000 words have been met) then it should pass

So should I resend them email after cutting down the word limit to 7450 please suggest, And technically if we see I have written mentor name, registration number of these are excluded it comes within 7500. Moreover, I have not used pictures instead I have used diagrams/charts.

Please chill! As mentioned above word count is only an issue if you (a) have exceeded it AND (b) have lots of pasted images (especially tables that you have created) 7503 words on its own is not a hanging offence!

hi there, I submitted my rap in May 2019 (Period 38) The word count from the start of the title page till the end of conclusion in part 3 was 7151 words, and I have mentioned the word count on the title page as 7151 words. However, in the Research Report file I have also included the reference list and appendices which will add up to 7640 words. I am confused on whether: - the markers will consider the 7151 words on the title page (word count from title page to research conclusions) - the markers will keep checking till the word count is 7500 - or will 7640 in the MS word count will result in a fail looking forward for any reply. thanks in advance

You should be fine because the rule is for the marker to carry on marking until they reach 7,500 words. They do however add on some words for graphs and tables but at 7,151 that should still be well within the limit after allowing a 100 words or so for these. So please stop worrying about this :-)
