Hello Miss, if the auditor would like to express different opinion for current and previous period FS (comparative FS),how will it presented in the auditor ‘s report? Will it have 2 basis of opinion and opinion paragraph?
Thank you.
Comparative information is almost always presented as corresponding figures – I have never seen in practice comparative information presented as the prior year’s financial statements attached to the current year’s financial statements.
However, it doesn’t matter how comparative information is presented – for AAA, this year’s opinion is on this year’s financial statements (and last year’s opinion on last year’s financial statements).
ISA 710 provides an Illustration (Illustration 4) of an auditor’s report where the auditor is REQUIRED to report on both current and prior period financial statements – but as this simply won’t arise in AAA so I suggest you ignore.
