Advice for exam sitting

GGabriel11y ago
Dear Mr. Moffat, I am taking P7 and P4 as my optional papers. I have not started studying for either of my subject. I am confused whether I should take the P4 exam in June or Sept? What do you advice? If I delay by three months, that means that I will start working three months later so I will lose salary for three months and also the related experience. Also, should I fail in June then I can use the Sept sitting as a re-sit. Is there enough time to prepare for June 2015 P4 exam for me? Or should I sit in Sept?

i dont think any1 can really give a proper advice on this since you're the only 1 that is aware of your limits and ability to assimilate information but the only thing you should know is that both papers are very bulky and im sure you're already aware of this + if your knowledge of f9 is weak, you will have to revisit the basics before even trying to understand the contents of p4 and this means double effort and work for you.

Gabriel: I don't know why 'ice dawn' has replied (since he is neither Mr Moffat nor the 'Tutor') :-) However what he/she says is correct in that so much depends on how much time you have available and how easy or difficult you found the underpinning papers (F9 and F8). It seems from your message as though you are not working at the moment. If that is the case then you certainly should be able to take the exams in June. Otherwise the only advice I can give you is to start studying immediately and you will soon get a feel for how much of a problem it will be for you and then be in a better position to decide whether to go for June or September.

Hi John I have to choose my optional subjects. I want to know which two are the most calculations based subjects. I am not good at theory. I think P6 tax is one of them. Which is the other numeric subject? Thanks

P4 has a lot of calculations, but there is still about 40% writing. P5 has some calculations, but is mostly writing P6 probably has the most calculations, but still quite a lot of writing (giving advice) P7 is all writing. Hope that helps :-)
