Aaccountant1015y ago
I gave my exams in December session and i chose remotely invigilated examination. I gave Performance Management ( F5 ) paper. But i did not get my result today, instead i got an email. Please find it below " ACCA examination(s), Pakistan - December 2020 I am writing to you in respect of the examination(s) which you attempted under conditions of remote invigilation during the December 2020, Pakistan exam session. ACCA has identified potential irregularities in the results of some of those examinations which may constitute a breach of ACCA exam regulations. In view of the above, results for all candidates who took those exams will be withheld pending further investigation. ACCA will endeavour to complete this investigation promptly and will contact you initially within two weeks." Kindly guide me in this matter. Your help will be appreciated

@accountant100 - thank you for sharing this - I heard just an hour ago that an e-mail was expected today. I share your relief!
KimKimTutor5y ago#38
@Genericusername - I'll try and find out more for you but please be aware that it is nearly the weekend here so I wouldn't expect to have any more information for you before next week.

Same here, I was also reading the comments and hoping i would get my result soon but mine also got referred to professional conduct. I dont remember doing anything against the rules or cheating!! Is Acca picking out students randomly? Because this is very stressful!!
KimKimTutor5y ago#40
@tweetaccountancy - no ACCA is not "picking out students randomly". What is unprofessional is that some students were undoubtedly in breach of exam rules - not just individually but in concert with others. They have, through their selfishness, implicated others. In only 3 weeks ACCA has been able to eliminate some students from the scope of the investigation. I have been involved in all aspects of ACCA for more than 30 years - as a tutor, content writer, managing director of a training company, examiner, marker .... and have advised clients and their students on matters of misconduct. I will do my best to advise users of this forum and have made enquiries. However, as in the exam rules, I ask that we keep this thread professional: "18. For all exams including remotely invigilated exams; students must not conduct themselves in an inappropriate way (including conducting themselves in vulgar, offensive, abusive, or any illegal activity)." As for any professional body, exam regulations are necessarily extensive https://www.accaglobal.com/sg/en/student/exam-entry-and-administration/rules-and-regs/exam-regulations.html and it is possible to be in breach of rules without "cheating". Matters are referred to the Professional Conduct for further investigation and follow up of the findings of the initial investigation. You will see here that after further investigation, any disciplinary proceeding will be brought against individuals https://www.accaglobal.com/in/en/about-us/regulation/disciplinary-and-regulatory-hearings/decisions-disciplinary/decisions-of-acca-disciplinary-committees-2020.html - and also that, if found guilty of misconduct, there is a right to appeal.

@Kim, How does the professional conduct committee work? Will it be making the final decisions or will we be referred to another one if the investigation still goes on?
KimKimTutor5y ago#42
@Anonymous - I made enquiries today about the process and will post here as soon as I have confirmation. But as far as I am aware the Professional Conduct department handles the investigation and, if an assessor determines that there is sufficient evidence for a case to be answered, it will be referred to the Disciplinary Committee for a formal hearing.
SSanober5y ago#43
Hello, @kim smith do you have any update on this professional conduct department response? I have heard from someone that they might months or upto year to contact back
KimKimTutor5y ago#44
@readerview - I will post here whenever I have something to add. Who is "someone"? I am pretty sure "in due course" will not be a year - though I would expect weeks rather than days.
SSanober5y ago#45
@kim student from Karachi told me that he went ACCA office there and met Vice President ACCA who himself told him that I have conducted investigations before and it took 3 months, sometimes it takes 6 to 8 months to resolve issue and till then you won’t be able to appear in exams
SSanober5y ago#46
@genericusername in September remote exams there were cheating cases or students were banned they must have included in their rules all the dos and don’ts, we have invested our years in this qualification and now we are treated as criminals because of slight issue washroom break, charger and extension correction being within the camera these are not major issues, if were they should not allow remote exams in future just to make money. What are we supposed to do after 24 or 25 years again graduation. There is no clear response from them and I have heard teachers in Islamabad that if you ask them in mails or reason them means you are putting pressure on the team and decision will be taken accordingly.
SSanober5y ago#47
This the work of Pakistan customer service to ask them and update us but they are not responding they don’t know anything why do we pay annual subscriptions this is the team they hire this is how they resolve issues years, depressing students.
SSanober5y ago#48
I have said to most of my friends and i am in contact with others, we all should respond together if there will be harsh decisions like ban and removal from register on small issues I would like to say the same here. We together can demand the swift answer or there must be something we can do
Kktktktk5y ago#49
Well if we are let go after 6 months with a fine, im not paying it! Why should i have to if i have done nothing wrong. Which brings me to my question: What does acca do if a student refuses to pay fines but they have already removed him from the register?
KimKimTutor5y ago#50
@ktkktkkt if you download from here the pdf "Guidance for disciplinary sanctions" - you will see that students are NOT fined https://www.accaglobal.com/in/en/about-us/regulation/disciplinary-and-regulatory-hearings.html Sanction could be admonishment, reprimand, severe reprimand, removal from the student register (for which there is a minimum period of exclusion of 12 months), ineligible to sit ACCA exams for a specified period (without being removed from the register), disqualification from one or more exams (where exam results have not be issued) - this last sanction can be combined with removal from the register. As you will see from any student disciplinary order, the committee will order a payment of costs. Payment can be enforced through legal means - in the UK they would be effective - I don't know how effective enforcement mechanisms are in Pakistan
Kktktktk5y ago#51
@kim does that mean all of those who were removed from acca registers can enroll again after a specific time period? Hahaha sorry for asking too many questions but im just preparing for the worst case scenario, i dont want to be left without any other option in case acca decides to kick me out, because my pup came in my workspace during the exam, although he went away but he stayed for 10 or 11 seconds and those few seconds are going to cost me my 3 months of hard work lol
KimKimTutor5y ago#52
@ktkktkkt - in the sanctions pdf that I referenced it is stated in the "minimum period of exclusion" section in C5: C5.3 ACCA’s Membership Regulations (Regulation 14(2)) currently require that where a member/student has been excluded/removed, he may not apply for readmission until a minimum of 12 months after the effective date of the exclusion/removal. C5.4 The Committee has the power to extend that period by combining an exclusion/removal order with an order that no application for readmission may be considered until a minimum period (of no more than five years) has expired. The period commences on the effective date of the Committee’s order. C5.5 Note that this does not mean that the member/student is automatically readmitted after the expiry of the period, as it is not a suspension. The decision as to whether a disciplined member/student is suitable to be readmitted is within the sole discretion of the Admissions and Licensing Committee. C5.6 Note also that the Committee does not have the power to impose any additional conditions upon readmission, as that would be a matter for the Admissions and Licensing Committee which would consider any such application for readmission. Looking at the news releases for November 2020 disciplinary committee orders - "no application for readmission" seemed to apply only where exam misconduct (for example) was compounded by something else (such as failure to comply with the investigation). I don't think seconds of interruption is going to cost anyone their membership - webcam footage will show what happened and for how long. Candidates absenting themselves for more than one "comfort break" AND for more than 5 mins AND without notifying the invigilator via the chat function that they were leaving AND when they returned is more likely to be an issue - as it is clearly stated: "Before stating your exam on the exam day, ensure you have: • Taken a comfort break before you start, you are only permitted to take one 5 minute bathroom break once you have started your exam ... " Point 1 of "On Exam Day" guidance in the guidance pdf (It is stated also at point to ensure you have "Removed any unauthorised items from your work area." And here it explains that permission does not need to be sought but the chat function must be used: https://www.accaglobal.com/gb/en/student/exam-entry-and-administration/computer-based-exams/remote-session-exams/on-exam-day.html)

@accountant100 - I think it looks as though you have been sent the 1 April e-mail in error. I think you should reply on the latest e-mail along the lines of: Dear Mr Gray I should be most grateful if you could please confirm at your earliest convenience that this e-mail has been sent in error. Please find attached/below* your e-mail of 11 February advising that there were "no irregularities or breaches of ACCA exam regulations in your sitting". Best regards And attach/copy and paste the earlier e-mail in full. You shouldn't expect a reply before next week at the earlies because of the Easter long weekend. If your D20 result was given and you were allowed to sit in March I can't believe there is still a case to be answered for - but rather an administration error. Do please keep me posted on how you get on. Kim

can you please guide us how much time acca will take to investigate our matter? i think its not a murder case which is taking too long to be do so and are we allowed to give june attempt?
KimKimTutor5y ago#59
@malik104 - it is in the nature of these investigations that while pending students are not permitted to enter for exams - I think that should have been mentioned in any email you have received.
KimKimTutor5y ago#60
@Genericusername - not deleted by me or anyone else that I am aware of. Please post again.
