50 mark question was ok.. there were question on performance report appropriateness, assess measures as proposed in BSC and impact of BSC introduction on employees. Q2 was hard. With Mckinsley 7s... If i'm failing its because of this question :P
BB6y ago#2
Q1 was calculate some performance measures (ROCE, RI, inventory turnover and current ratio from what I remember), evaluate the performance report, evaluate the BSC measure they chose, issues with BSC implementation. Q2 was 7S model specifically the 4 soft S's and ERPS system. Q3 was joint venture performance measures and recommend performance measures based on a Mendelow Matrix.

Question 1 was fair. Usual performance report evaluation with calculations of ROCE, dividends per share, residual income, and Inventory turnover days. Brief Comment on inventory management system was required. Assessment of measures proposed using BSC And affect on employees behavior was also asked. I made some silly mistakes in ROCE and Residual income calculations. Hopefully I did well on other areas. Question 2. A) Asses the integration of two footwear companies using McKinney’s 7(15 marks) B) evaluate the introduction of ERPS (10 marks) Question 3. A) performance management and measurement issues in joint venture of two universities. (16 marks) B) suggest performance measures for the stakeholders Identified. (9 marks) Question 3 was tricky and of course time doesn’t help. Praying this will be my last attempt.

Question 3 was a disaster. Hoping it's my last attempt too ???
OOneel6y ago#5
Was it specified to use the soft S’s only?

Overall the paper was easy, it wasnt very technical and knowledge dependent. I was able to connect the answer tothe question all along, which i think is most important in APM. Time management also wasnt an issue and i feel most of the people would find this in common. Question 3, specifically setting KPIs for diff stakeholder groups was tricky and a little thinking was required however as long as a proper justification is provided in relation to the KPI, marks would be given. And again in this attempt there was no question from Corporate failure despite acca mentioning that it would be tested in sedction B. My third and hopefully last attempt.

i wasnt able to apply the soft S, I struggled through it.....sigh
MManthan6y ago#8
its fine as long as you included points that relate to skills, style and the other ones at the most basic level including wat was given in the question and stating that they r not in line with each other and causes disharmony, ull be good

Anybody did EVA question and what was the EVA?
BB6y ago#10
Yep. I was excited when I first scanned through the questions because I knew all of the 7S's, was annoyed when i actually got to the question and saw they told you what they were.
BB6y ago#11
Don't remember there being an EVA question. You sure you're talking about the same exam?
OOneel6y ago#12
Oh shoot! I’ve wrote so many points under strategy and systems. I wrote 4 S’s in total. I only covered styles and staff or skills from the soft S’s. I think spotted soft S being mentioned below the diagram but why wouldn’t they mention it in the question though ?????
BB6y ago#13
I'm pretty sure it was mentioned in the text (rather than the question) to only talk about the soft S's.
Aazizi6y ago#14
I thought question 2 was about joint venture and 3 about 7S’s. Correct me if I am wrong. If it is the other way round what happens if I have marked question 2 as 3 and 3 as 2? ? My exam went very well. Fingers crossed I will pass
AArtur6y ago#15
Yes I had a question 1 with EVA
AAdam6y ago#16
Whoa - people on here saying they calculated KPI’s on Q1? I thought you had to evaluate the report (I’ve a feeling I’ve critically appraised it). I’ve highlighted what’s good and bad about it and what would enhance it, but haven’t calculated any KPI’s. Looks like I’m back in December then!
BB6y ago#17
If you did a CBE exam then the answers will go with the correct questions anyway. I'm sure the marker will be able to work it out though.
AArtur6y ago#18
have not written any normal point in Q2 4s model, did not understand how they improve in that situation. there were only one kaplan quaestion to this matter and is very general just stating what they are without applycation much on scenario.
BB6y ago#19
The first part of question 1 told you to complete the calculations from the appendix. Basically you just copied and pasted it into your spreadsheet and worked out the answers for the ones with "?" marks in them.
AArtur6y ago#20
I did. it seams CBE has EVA
OOneel6y ago#21
Alright thanks for confirming guys. It’s seems like I messed my marks up smh !

How did you calculate RI? If I remember correctly only WACC was given
Lleon6y ago#23
Whose exam was cancelled and was told that they will have to do it again in December?
AAdam6y ago#24
I had positive of around 400k?????
Aazizi6y ago#25
Yes, I did a CBE exam.
AAdam6y ago#26
I think there were different Q1’s.
Aazizi6y ago#27
There was no EVA question
BB6y ago#28
Are those who had EVA as question 1 foreign based? I believe they are different papers.
BB6y ago#29
Edit: replied to the wrong post.
BB6y ago#30
I just used the WACC as I didn't have time to think about it too much but I'm now thinking there might have been a way to work out the cost of equity if it gave the other parts of how the WACC was made up (can't remember if it did or not?).
