Passed in third attempt. Now affiliate. This P5 gave some pain but learned a lot from this which is very important for an accountant. Thanks to opentution for their extensive help during my ACCA adventure.

paased with 54% third attempt. Dnt give up keep trying you will succed 2nd attempt i had 36 lowest mark i ever got in ACCA. i read the examiners articles all of it and articles on how to answer questions all in the examiners articles, giving different solutions on how to answer questions for example if you are aked to evaluate a situation, you should explain both the advantage and disadvantage of the situation and relate it to the question. Proper undertanding of the question matters. Proper structuring of your report also matters, a student once wrote something on opentution i found useful she said on the first page of your script you can write for exam purposes i will be doing all my report calculation on the first page. by doing this you can easily transfer your answers from the calculation into your report writting and it makes your report neat instead of calculating inside the report. All this i followed and the examiners articles very helpful and used their recommendation in the exams. i hope this helps someone, dont give up congrats to those who passed and God bless you all

Passed P5 with 53%. This was my 7th attempt. Congrats to those who passed and for those who didn't please don't give up, as I was like you and know how it feels to keep on constantly failing this doable paper. Just learn from your mistakes and remember that this will make you stronger and you will succeed next time. I'm now an affiliate and I hope everyone who has struggled with this paper to taste this joy of not this attempt, then next attempt inshallah .

Can you please explain it ........."Proper structuring of your report also matters, a student once wrote something on opentution i found useful she said on the first page of your script you can write for exam purposes i will be doing all my report calculation on the first page. by doing this you can easily transfer your answers from the calculation into your report writting and it makes your report neat instead of calculating inside the report." Is it mean that One should do calculations first and then write the report?

Passed 53% on my third attempt. First and second attempts got 33%. Don't beat yourself up if didn't pass you will get it. I knew the same amount on all sittings it is down to luck of whether you know what examiner is asking. I found that the hardest about this paper and as a result only attemping 50 to 60 percent if the paper through indecision! This time i made a decision ran with it and completed paper on time. an affiliate after 7 long years :)

Is it possible to apply directly for a member status immediately after exam or is it mandatory that one must be an affiliate for 3 years before transferring to member status?
Former userFormer user11y ago#47
Passed on first attempt, 61%. Definitely the hardest paper I did.
Former userFormer user11y ago#48
46 marks. Failed again on my second attempt. However, my first P5 exam was worse :)
MMatt11y ago#49

A couple of things that I picked up from speaking to a P5 marker that might help people score those vital 1/2 more points or create more time for question 1 to scrape a pass: 1. Don't ever write a conclusion, despite the examiner comments about "extra credit given where reasonably attempted" - they actually never give the extra 1 mark, 4 presentation marks require the standard titles, introduction and the use of sub headings. The introduction is important, if done properly, no concluding statement is even required as you are telling the reader what to expect and where it ends. You won't for example get 4 marks if you skip a basic introduction but put a good conclusion with loads of writing. Report Date From To Subject Introduction Heading 1 Heading 2 2. If you have a calculation question, you must write something - it is a report, if you just put the figure in without writing a sentence or 2 to explain to the reader the significance - you will be throwing away marks. You may even get credit for your explanation even if you got the calculation wrong - you must give a recommendation or answer if directed to in the question (e.g. the board is considering 1 of 2 options). Just calculating the break-even without saying anything about it probably throws away 2 marks. Good luck everyone

Were you working full time as well? Doing 3 exams a session sounds like a lot, congratulations on your results.
Ggirish11y ago#58
No, i was not working as full time employee, but after having passed my skill level papers, i joined an audit firm which used to give me around 30 days study leave, which i spent using opentuition notes+bpp revision kit+ tite sleep.
