Thank you Lord Jesus, finally, I have made it. I'm now an ACCA Affiliate. It feels so surreal. Keep the faith, don't give up. You would make it, if I did. Congrats to fellow affiliates. opentuition, you are the best thing that ever happened to accountancy students. Keep up the good work.

I passed on my 5th Attempt! Please DO NOT give up! I have been there, I know how it is! Some times after I finish the exam, I thought that was it, but the results proved me wrong. You did not make to the benchmark, it does not mean you don't have the knowledge to pass! Give it another try! You will make it!

@wl2011, if you write answers for P5 in the way you write answers for P3 then it must be issues, so pay clear attention to model answers of P5 and understand difference between P5 and P3 , even if questions are same for P5 and P3 the answers absolutely different

In June '14 I 've failed to pass P5 (last course) for 3d time although I studied hard. Initially, in my first attempt, I was started to thinking that I was not well prepared (btw, I passed most of the papers on my first attempt). Finally, after my 3d failure, I concluded that something goes wrong with the examiner's approach. That is why after a lot of thinking I decided to change the course to P6 (UK) even though I was suggested from my provider to avoid it. P6 has much more material to learn but I think that it is clear to all students that if you study hard you will pass the course, something that does not seem to happen with P5. Finally, I passed P6 with 56% and I'm now affiliate. Keep in mind that It is never to late to change a course and there are many ways to reach your goal. Try to be flexible and please don't give up my friends. I am at your disposal for everything you might need.

I feel your pain Brian. This was my second attempt and also failed at 42% for the second time. I simply don't know where I'm going wrong. I've spent the second round of studying practicing questions over and over. I've studied the theory inside out and feel that I'm only half answering the question because I'm not given the opportunity to really express what I've learned. The questions are unpredictable. No matter how much one learns in P5, something is bound to crop outside of the zone that we are unable to plan for( I know this tests your competence though!) but I do put in the hard work, I've tired to nail down the specifics and really apply to the question...where am I going wrong?!!!! Emotionally stressed!!!!

Congratulation to you Marky123! and all those who passed! I am so happy for you. This will be my fourth attempt in June 2015. Did you guy actually answer the question in sequence of question 1 and then the option questions? Gosh, I seriously need help to get to Affiliate given that this is my last paper! Can anyone give me tips to get through this paper? I did every question according to time allocation and still failed! :( Thanks very much for your advice. Regards, Steven

@musemma u are not alone dear. I really felt the same as well. After seeing the answers on line I was positive I had made it this time. But only to get 43%..3 % increase from the last diet....I will also take the paper again for the 4th time. ..application and analysis it is. ..hopefully I get it right this time around.

Hi All, i spoke to a marker today and and he said that people don't pass P5 is because of the strict marking procedures and that people make silly mistakes such as not rounding calculations properly ie of the calculation answer is 300.16 instead of people leaving as 300.16 they were rounding it down to 300.1 instead of 300.2 and they would lose a mark for this silly mistake, also people lost 'easy' 3 marks on the report format such as below to….. By/From….. Title/about Date 1 Introduction .asnwer... . Conclusion/recommendations/further action etc Thank god i passed this exam first time but i hope this helps people that failed, also remember to read the questions 2-3 times before answering as the examiner has written an article about people not answering his questions correctly and just answering what they want to be asked see link below https://www.accaglobal.com/uk/en/student/acca-qual-student-journey/qual-resource/acca-qualification/p5/technical-articles/reading-the-question-requirements-of-paper-p5.html good luck
Former userFormer user11y ago#88
hi Steven, make sure you read the exam articles and read the questions several times before answering, make sure you get the easy 4 marks on report structure and leaving space between questions and always answering a new question on a new page. make sure you round your calculations correctly and good luck!
