Hi ladies and gents,Is there anybody who has actually enrolled in the program and can comment on:
– general learning experience?
– communication with lecturers?
– passing assignments and final exams?
– any set backs?I have 2 options left to pass and am thinking about joining Pathway 1, it simply seems that it will fit better my studying style and it would be great to hear any feedback from current students or those who have completed it.
Any feedback appreciated.Any update on this one? Would be great to know other people’s experience at UoL.
Thanks.
June 8, 2017 at 7:13 pm #391977Has anyone started MSC in professional accountancy? I am planning to do.
I am just wondering how hard the modules are please, where can we access past exam papers etc… anyone please share your experience of doing this programme.
ThanksJune 10, 2017 at 6:01 pm #392545I’m so confused. UoL and UCL are two unrelated universities and UCL provides study meterials for UoL, aren’t they?
Whose name will stand on the MSc degree, UoL or UCL? I can easily recognise UCL in the QS world ranking but I cannot find out UoL (however some of its member schools, yes, but on the over 300th positions). It is a significant difference.
The topic on ACCA website also mentions alot of UCL but we all know that who actually in charge of the programme is UoL. It seems something are tailored to make the readers misunderstand.
Someone can make me clear about that?June 11, 2017 at 4:51 pm #392745AnonymousInactive- Topics: 0

There was a recent live Q&A session. You could read some of the questions and responses on the UOL facebook page. Here https://www.facebook.com/events/272565329875159/?active_tab=discussion
Though from my understanding, University of London is made up of a collection of different London colleges. These various colleges provide the academic direction for the various programmes offered by UOL.

June 24, 2017 at 12:16 am #393935Hello everyone. I am ACCA affiliate since January 2014 and began the Msc Programme through the pathway 2 this year.
My experience has been on the positive side. It requires a lot dedication which for me was difficult especially since I am doing it through online content. If you follow the timetable that the University provides you are good to go. There is quite some reading to do in most topics.
I studied the Global Issues for the Finance Professional module. Its has a total of 6 themes and 20 topics. They suggest you read one topic a week. All essential materials are provided but you may need to refer to some additional reading for better understanding. Its quite well set up with a quiz at the end of the topic and forums where you can discuss with other students.
Pathway 2 has no exams. This module is assessed through 2 courseworks based on themes 1-2 (6 topics) and themes 3-4 (6 topics) and a project at the end based on themes 5-6.
Courseworks require a maximum of 4,000 words essays whilst the project requires 6,000 words. The project has two parts. The theory and a reflection part. I submitted my project just last Friday. The University provides full guidance and advise on the courseworks and projects. Which makes it very simple.
It’s been a good experience so far. Although we have received preliminary results for our courseworks, our final results for the coursework and project will be out in November. That’s quite far but no choice. I am probably starting the next module in July.
Wish me luck!
I will be happy to answer any queries on this. I can also provide some examples of the resources as well.
June 24, 2017 at 12:20 am #393936I need to add that the deadline for the July session is 26th June. That is the coming Monday. Whoever is interested needs to start the process soon. The module cost is £1,340 for certain countries and more for some others.

Very helpful, it’s great to hear positive experience and also the challenges in undertaking the masters. I think the fact that it’s from one of the best universities in the world and a globally recognised accountancy body, it’s worth every effort and investment.
June 27, 2017 at 1:59 am #394158So i have a question in regards yo the difficulty and time commitment. So from my understanding after becoming an affiliate one would have to do two modules. What im concerned about is the difficulty of it in the sense that im wondering if the two modules can be done simultaneously or not. And its feasibility.
June 27, 2017 at 4:28 am #394159I wanted to complete it all in 6 months myself. However, I suggest one module at a time and so do the University themselves. Hence, you complete it in one year.
I would not recomnend it unless you are not working and have time for full time studies. The University suggests 2 hours a day of studying. In this modern world you know how difficult it is to spare two hours each day and sometimes you might require more time to do more research and understand the topic better.
From my experience once if you do not complete a topic in the suggested week you will find yourself with a lot to catch up with and read. Some topics have a lot of reading to do as i mentioned earlier.
Plus there are courseworks that come in between. So there will be times you will be reading new topics whilst also working on courseworks related to previous topics. I can’t imagine doing another seperate module at the same time.
Many things for me were new. As in, i did not come across them in my ACCA studies so it takes time to digest and understand it well.
However, that’s my experience. At the end it all depends on you.
June 30, 2017 at 12:27 pm #394404Thank you Imuabbas, this information was much needed. I hope to can keep us posted on your progress and good luck with your studies.

Thank you alot for this advice. It is possible for me to do it full time, not working etc, that’s why i asked about the time commitment, though could you give me a comparative between this, and say P level acca exams. In terms of effort you put in
July 15, 2017 at 3:48 pm #396169I would say it is similar to the P papers. Maybe just a little more. The theory involved is far greater and its not as simplified as the study texts we had for ACCA.
The readings are extracts from researches mostly. Not very easily understood in one reading. Again this is subjective. Everyone learns better differently.
The reading requires you to think and reflect. ACCA was more direct knowledge like standards, theories, calculations. This is less straight forward. Thats why they have provided different researches with different views on certain subjects for eg.CSR and in the process you will develop your own views.
July 16, 2017 at 3:38 am #396225I wonder if i take some variant papers that are different from UK variant, for example F4 and F6, can I register for this program?. In addition, I wonder which MSc of university does this program award (UOL or UCL)?
July 16, 2017 at 11:57 am #396281Thanks again Imuabbbas, I asked because I thought that would be a bit more material in making my judgement in how i should do my masters, i think I’ll do it in one year as opposed to the 6months.
July 16, 2017 at 11:58 am #396282UOL awards btw, but the certificate does acknowledge that the core material originates from UCL
August 29, 2017 at 6:42 pm #404131Hello, just submitted my first coursework today, does anyone know how long does it take to hear back after submission? Many thanks!
August 29, 2017 at 8:58 pm #404163Hi,
Congrats on your submission.
The results are usually out just a few days before your second coursework deadline as per my experience. Your tutor and course managers usually write an e-mail with the probable date for results. You will receive information soon. It’s hell waiting for results. I have to wait until October for my final GIFP module results which i completed in June!
Anyways, all the best!
August 29, 2017 at 9:02 pm #404166It would also be nice to get your feedback so far on your course.
August 29, 2017 at 11:32 pm #404186Thanks for your response. It’s a long wait then for the result. I better focus on my other exams for now. Well done for finishing GIFP!!
With my feedback on the course, it’s still ongoing and I am finding it a bit challenging. I am doing SFM plus trying to study for other two P papers for Sep sitting. It is a great way to develop academic, critical thinking, and writing skills. Certainly, I am already learning a lot in that sense. However, it requires a lot of reading and self-study, so if you’re a slow reader like me, it’s taking me longer to learn and understand specially with the absence of lecture support like we get from OT, BPP or Kaplan which are exam focused. They do have video support to give an overview of the topic though. It takes getting used to I should say. I have given feedback on making lectures and there are queries from other students too, so would be great if they can provide them for future students.
Well, I will keep this thread updated so others can benefit from my experience too.
Best of luck with the result 🙂

I would love to share the material. However, I am not sure how to do it here and how safe it is to share personal info. Please share your email and i shall send you some material.

September 22, 2017 at 3:19 pm #408363Hello,
Has anyone done the SFM module exam? how did you find it? As it is different to ACCA exams, do you have any advice on the exam preparation?
Thanks,
Ed
