@Amaniabuzaid – if I didn’t understand how you feel I would not be devoting hours and hours of my time to trying to allay students’ concerns and provide useful information to ACCA to moderate the volume of generic communications at this time.

@Kim
Thanks a lot for your patients, please don’t misunderstand me.
God knows how do we feel and how we are suffering.
for me I started studying AFM on the 18th of Dec 2020 as it is my final paper.
But now after receiving the generic communication form ACCA I cant focus any more.January 15, 2021 at 6:49 pm #606002ashlan

Hi everyone, particularly those that wrote their last exam in December. PLEASE stop speculating about the e-mails, etc. As @Kim Smith has mentioned countless times, they do not mean anything. I myself am an affiliate-hopeful, and I think the speculation is causing unnecessary anxiety. Let’s be happy that we were brave enough to attempt the December exam, regardless of the result right now. Nothing that we say or do right now can influence the result, so as Kim says, let’s share some advice to our fellow students, and which has been the most interesting strategic paper.
Here’s one of mine. I found SBL in Dec 2019 to be interesting. I followed the advice to spend the first hour preparing my answer on my answer book (still on paper at the time), which felt like I was wasting time, but it really helped a lot. That paper required a lot of practical thinking and common sense, and I am grateful that I passed it on my first attempt. I’m certain this 1 hour planning time was definitely the key. Those 4 hours goes by real quick!

I have been left with one paper since 2018.. my advice is to not get demotivated and keep trying..
I took a break ..
Now I feel I should have kept trying instead of taking a break.
I got married… And then I revisited AFM I think after a year and attempted did not pass. Then in December I attempted.. but If I don’t make it this time I plan to keep trying till I succeed instead of taking a break.so my advice is keep trying don’t be discouraged. .
Because I think if I had not taken a break and kept pushing maybe I would have cleared it .. so don’t give up keep trying.. if result is not good. Don’t worry keep trying.be positive.January 15, 2021 at 7:33 pm #606006joevassallo

Hi Kim
Can I please ask you how do the cancellations of the CBE Exam Centres affect my 7 year expiry dates on the 2 remaining papers that I have left to pass.
I have expiry dates of Dec 2022 for SBR and Dec 2023 for SBL
I am not keen on doing Remote Exams, so that I means I will have to wait till June 2021 sessions (hopefully!!)
Thank you.

I actually found AAA to be the best professional paper for me – I was dreading it because of the pass rate/ reputation, but I got into it a lot and scored my highest mark there (including F papers!) I think it better suited my studying style of internalising information and taking on a role.
I found SBR the most difficult strategic paper, mainly due to the sheer volume of the syllabus. Not only is it huge, the questions that were asked were so in-depth that you can easily trip on a number of areas. I think I made the mistake of focusing too much on the theory and knowledge side, when I should have spent more time on past papers and exam technique. It was my first professional paper so perhaps I was still in the mindset of more rote learning.
My biggest piece of advice for non-affiliates would be not to fear the professional papers. In a way they’re harder as the content is more advanced, but they also give you a real opportunity to prove you know what you’re talking about in a way that MCQs don’t allow.

I received an email from ACCA “Take the next step” book your exam now and unlock your possibilities…
Being a finalist I can certainly say Its not a good sign for me. As from last few years I am observing what ACCA sent and what they didn’t before result. Don’t want to create unnecessary anxiety for others but I can say not every thing is generic what I observed. But Best of luck to all…

I got exemption for the applied skills exams, so i never attempted it.
I have written AAA, SBL and SBR which i passed once and have failed AFM twice..so obviously the most difficult exam for me was AFM..while i wrote APM once and awaiting results for it…my easiest and most interesting exam is AAA, followed closely by SBL.
AAA opened my eyes to what auditors actually do and though i have no work experience in this field, i can confidently say i understand what auditors do.
However, i really enjoyed studying for APM as it taught me a lot about management accounting and the workings of a manufacturing company especially (i have interest in specializing as an FP&A).
My problem with AFM is that it is really really technical and might be a bit problematic if you aren’t interested in corporate finance and capital markets or have working experience in that field. I had tried the CFA exams in the past and failed Level 1 twice, so it’s safe to say Corporate Finance isn’t my best suit
My advise for students is to show genuine interest in the strategic professional papers, savour it , understand it and enjoy it but then dont forget to look out for what the examiner wants..apart from OT, i got some tutors online that were useful in tackling some of these courses..for AAA – Kashif Kamran, SBL – Hasani Dosani and APM – Rizwan Maniya.
All the best results to everyone!

Hi Everyone,
I am awaiting my SBL results but not feeling very hopeful, fingers crossed though. Despite this I decided to start studying APM as I enjoyed PM and there appears to be a bit of an overlap with SBL. The only thing is though I took PM sometime ago and have forgotten some of the knowledge so having to play catch up.My advise to anyone out there when you are thinking about which exam to do next bear in mind what papers you would like to do at the Professional level so you don’t have to go over stuff so much.
I will then be looking to do SBR then AAA. Not looking forward to SBR, but AA was my favourite subject so hopefully looking forward to ending on a high.
Best of luck to all those waiting for their results and if anyone has any tips for taking APM that would be great.

There r plenty of cases where I have heard that they passed even after attempting around 70-75. The content should be accurate whatever u have written in that case

For P2 I attempted only 2 ques. One 50 marks and one 25 marks. And left one 25 marks question unattempted. I passed with 50marks.so its possible.

I’ve heard one such case. But that means you have to literally score FULL marks on whatever questions you have attempted on that paper.
