The services characteristics comprise 5 elements:
    1. Intangibility: branch, different product
    2. Perishability: can not save the services. For eg, like the hotel, it happens for that night you rent
    3. Simultaneousity: at the same time
    4. No transfer of the ownership:
    5. Heterogeneous: mixed

Thank you for the amazing job you are doing for ACCA students! Great analysis of the question! It gives so much more than a simple model answer, as it shows how to approach the question and how to think through the answer.

Thank you very much for the detailed answers!

    I have 2 suggestions:

    1. Please make more videos on recent exams
    2. It would be great if you wright down your answers in a bullet-point format.

We update question videos from time to time. They are just to give an idea of question approach. No more planned before the end of the year.

You need to know what the implications of the key words are. For example, a service is often delivered immediately so how can you ensure itsquality if there is no chance to inspect it? Services cannot be stockpiled in inventory, so how can you avoif idle periods and overly busy periods so as to improve performance?

Suppose you answered the question in part v without referring to F & M building blocks model, are there chances of you scoring in this question? this is because it is not so clear in the question part rather than in the write-up part where the CEO has mentioned the model.

Thank you very much for the great lecture.

I have just got an observation about this question. It is a 50 mark question, so you have 1,5 hours to complete this. The lecture above takes 1 hour. How is it possible to write sufficient information in the time alloted. To me there appears to be some type of mismatch with timing!

Well, I tried to be pretty comprehensive and to exlain things clearly, so that all took a bit of time.

But you are right. These big questions can be vey time challenging.

Great lecture, they are making feel at ease to start tackling passed exam questions :o)

Could you tell me, the differences between service and manufacturing industries, do we have to learn the key words or could we know the meaning and discuss it?

    thanks
    Jemma

Know the meaning, then discuss with reference to question
