is the operations or production process part of supply chain managment? i was going through a technical article and it said for a manufacturing company the chain would incclude procurement,inbound only

There is no universal definition of a supply chain. It seems that the term usually applys all the way from suppliers through to customers. ‘Supply’ applies to the supply to customers, not just the manufacturer. Therefore, for example, ensuring that your manufacturing can respond to orders is part of the process.
