Dear Mr Moffatt
Can you tell me why when we prepair simple consolidated balance sheet we remove subsidiary stockholder account but we leave purchaser stockholder account ? What is purpose of doing this ?
The majority of the share in the subsidiary are owned by the parent company which is owned by the shareholders of the parent company, In the consolidated accounts we treat both companies as though one ‘big’ company which is mainly owned by the shareholders of the parent company (and the part of the subsidiary that is owned by others is shown as the non-controlling interest).
