General ACCARemote Invigilation Session CBEs 7-11 June 2021 – ACCA RECOMMENDATIONS!

KimKimTutor5y ago
See below a “Top 10” list of recommendations from ACCA to avoid potential pitfalls in sitting session CBEs remotely – with links to where you can find more details: 1. Check the minimum technical specifications AND complete and pass the system test in the same place you will take your exam http://www.accaglobal.com/gb/en/student/exam-entry-and-administration/computer-based-exams/remote-session-exams/before-you-book.html Included in above but worth reiteration: 2. Windows Operating system must pass Genuine Windows Validation 3. A wired internet connection will be more stable than wireless 4. DO NOT SIT YOUR EXAM IN SETTINGS WITH A CORPORATE FIREWALL/VPN 5. Enable internet cookies and disable pop-up blockers Re desk location and set up of a CLEAR desk area: 6. A completely quiet and private room – make sure no one enters during your exam 7. A minimum monitor size of 17” to be able to effectively manage response options 8. NO SCRAP PAPER is allowed on your desk 9. Scientific calculators are allowed, but not programmable calculators or with word display facility – see FAQs for details http://www.accaglobal.com/lk/en/help/remote.html During the exam: 10. You are allowed ONE comfort break of up to 5 minutes. You must NOTIFY your invigilator using the chat function before leaving and on returning but do not need to wait for permission before leaving. TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDANCE: Please READ this NOW and pay particular attention to the WEBCAM instructions https://www.accaglobal.com/gb/en/student/exam-entry-and-administration/computer-based-exams/remote-session-exams/on-exam-day/troubleshooting-guidance.html Check out ACCA’s resources on accaglobal.com/remoteready and be sure to READ CAREFULLY the exam regulations here https://www.accaglobal.com/gb/en/student/exam-entry-and-administration/rules-and-regs/exam-regulations.html

Hi I get a activate windows water mark at the bottom of my screen. Will that have an impact on the remote exam? I did the system test and it said it was successful.
KimKimTutor5y ago#2
From the internet: "The ‘Activate Windows’ watermark indicates that the copy of the Windows on your computer hasn’t been activated yet or its license has expired. If you have a valid Windows 10 product key, you can activate and remove the Activate Windows watermark." According to the instructions for your computer system: "Windows Operating system must pass Genuine Windows Validation" - point 2 in the checklist above. In booking to sit RI you have ticked boxes that confirm this.

I can not use internet explorer to login acca platform but I can use MS edge to login ACCA platform.Should I use internet explorer or MS edge in remote exam?I prefer to use MS edge but its speed is slower than Intenet explorer.Thank you
KimKimTutor5y ago#4
Chrome is the preferred browser for accessing myACCA. "Other browsers" mentioned here do not include MS edge https://www.accaglobal.com/gb/en/myacca/problems-logging-in.html

Hi does anyone know how to check if windows operating system passes genuine test and does anyone know what effect this will have on the exam?
KimKimTutor5y ago#6
@ranganaherath - you should be able to browse for a solution for example, I found this answer, via settings: "Start menu, click Settings, then click Update & security. Then, navigate to the Activation section to see if the OS is activated. If yes, and it shows "Windows is activated with a digital license ", your Windows 10 is genuine." ACCA is emphatic that software must be genuine. I am sure that if it is apparent in any way that it is not,, the invigilator will have authority to terminate an exam session - and the candidate will not have recourse to mitigating circumstances as they confirm that they have met this requirement on booking.

if my monitor size is less than 17 inch, will i be able to request for them to make the font size smaller? or izit fixed as per the practice platform?
KimKimTutor5y ago#8
@bananabuddy - you should expect the same functionality as in the practice platform subject to any statements to the contrary on the intro pages.
Jjudy5y ago#9
since the practice platform is on google, i am able to zoom out on the page, will the RI be the same?
KimKimTutor5y ago#10
I don't know - I haven't had to sit any real CBE. 17" minimum is ACCA recommendation. I know some candidates have said that they "managed" with smaller for Applied Skills but larger is considered necessary to manipulate the exhibits, etc that are associated with the Strategic Professional. So it's not just a matter of font size.
KimKimTutor5y ago#11
@bananabuddy - if you take a look at ACCA's Guide to CBEs - page 19 "The toolbar functions ..." you will see there is a zoom function.

Is CBE remote exam has same environment (using proctoru) as On-demand remote exams ?
KimKimTutor5y ago#13
@Abd.alrahman.9989 - Remote Session CBEs require download of OnVUE Invigilation Software See point 7 in the "step-by-step instructional guide" available on this page https://www.accaglobal.com/gb/en/student/exam-entry-and-administration/computer-based-exams/remote-session-exams/on-exam-day.html
ARAnisur rhman5y ago#14
Do I need to print out my exam docket for remote exam to show the exam invigilator or I can show in my phone.
KimKimTutor5y ago#15
@rajubdlife - NO it is not required at all https://www.accaglobal.com/ca/en/student/exam-entry-and-administration/exam-attendance-docket.html

Hi, can use 42 inch lcd display for my Mac ? I have a Mac which has 12 inch display which is too small for the exams. ACCA recommended to use at least 17+ inch but will be there any issue if I use 42 inch ?
KimKimTutor5y ago#17
@zain@310 - I found a Pearson Vue specification if using a 24" monitor: Monitor • Must allow for the following display resolution settings and be set to the highest resolution: o 1920 x 1080 (set to this resolution) o 1280 x 1024 o 1024 x 768 • Monitor must be connected to the computer using DVI, DisplayPort, or HDMI Desktop Graphics Adapter • Exam delivery workstations must have a graphics adapter that supports GPU Scaling (ability to Maintain Aspect Ratio) • Exam delivery workstations must have the GPU Scaling feature enabled in the graphics adapter software • The latest version of graphics drivers must be installed You'd better contact ACCA directly https://www.accaglobal.com/vn/en/footer-toolbar/contact-us.html

Hello. My windows 10 is pirated version. Not a genuine one. But I completed my system test successfully. So will I face trouble on my exam day? And the system test says that the test was completed successfully. So can I use that?
AAJMAL5y ago#19
hello sir, how to get answers of practice exam platform in acca website
KimKimTutor5y ago#20
@Inzayn - 2. Genuine Windows validation is a separate requirement from 1. Pass system test. See my comments above on the same theme - May 28, 2021 at 7:10 am and May 28, 2021 at 5:25 pm
KimKimTutor5y ago#21
@ajmal10 - you need to go to "mark" page - see my instruction here https://opentuition.com/topic/cant-find-practice-ot-questions-on-acca-website

KimKimTutor5y ago#23
@ phuongmore - I'm sorry but I cannot replicate specific issues. If you need assistance in interpreting systems test feedback you need to contact ACCA directly https://www.accaglobal.com/vn/en/footer-toolbar/contact-us.html

If there is a connection issue for more than 5 to 10 mins, exam will be saved or cancelled? And will I be able to give it in week two? I have connection issue actually sometimes but not always.
KimKimTutor5y ago#25
There is no week 2 - since the number of issues has significantly decreased since the initial rush to introduce RI in the face of covid. See here https://www.accaglobal.com/lk/en/help/remote.html "What happens if I lose internet connectivity during the exam? A reliable internet connection is an essential minimum technical requirement for taking the exam. In the event of a connectivity interruption the exam software will save the exam and if immediate action is taken to restore the connection will allow you to restart your exam at the same point. We recommend using a wired connection as this will minimise the risk of connectivity issues disrupting your exam experience." See also the new section troubleshooting guidanace here https://www.accaglobal.com/ca/en/student/exam-entry-and-administration/computer-based-exams/remote-session-exams.html

Sir is it fine if i take my exam in an enclosed hall rather than a room? Or the proctor may object to it? I get better Internet connectivity in the hall, than anywhere else in my house. P.S.- this holds relevance for me, because I’ll be taking my exam on a PC that is not movable, so instant changes won’t be an option for me.
KimKimTutor5y ago#27
@Noah098 - see here https://www.accaglobal.com/lk/en/help/remote.html Where can I take the exam? You can sit your exam at home, or an alternative location such as your learning provider or in your office. However, there are some important regulations which must be followed: You must be sat at a desk in a CLOSED quiet private room with no other people in the room for the full duration of the exam. The room must have solid walls and door (ie not glass) so no other individual can be seen other your yourself. Also on that page you can go to link "View our room and desk setup requirements for remote session exams" If by hall you mean it is open to a stairway or has turns in it so where it would be physically possible for someone to appear out of site of the proctor I am sure that will not be suitable. Perhaps if you are facing a wall and have walls to left and right so the only "space" is behind you (i.e. in view of the webcam throughout), you might be able to construct a screen behind you? Though I obviously can't speak for a proctor whether they would permit.
FSFleur Swan5y ago#28
Hello sir, do we click submit button or should we just wait for the timer to end itself? Thank you
KimKimTutor5y ago#29
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE everyone - download and READ the step-by-step guide - LINK under the video here https://www.accaglobal.com/gb/en/student/exam-entry-and-administration/computer-based-exams/remote-session-exams/on-exam-day.html @Fleurswan - see point 20: When the exam end time is reached, the exam will automatically end and a Proctor will close you exam window. Please do NOT end the exam before the exam end time is reach. If you do end the exam early, or leave your seat during the exam, you will be reported to ACCA for investigation which may result in your result being withheld.

Dear Sir, I had faced the following problem in my previous remote exam- For example if I have typed a paragraph and now I want to change/add a word/line in between the para. As soon as I started typing the additional word, it would not add that word but would replace the next (already typed and correct) letter. Why would the cursor replace instead of just typing. It seemed like a bug. Please let me know if there is a way to avoid this because it was too time consuming and resulted in me panicking in exam.
