General ACCARemote Invigilation Session CBEs 7-11 June 2021 – ACCA RECOMMENDATIONS!

KimKimTutor5y ago
See below a “Top 10” list of recommendations from ACCA to avoid potential pitfalls in sitting session CBEs remotely – with links to where you can find more details: 1. Check the minimum technical specifications AND complete and pass the system test in the same place you will take your exam http://www.accaglobal.com/gb/en/student/exam-entry-and-administration/computer-based-exams/remote-session-exams/before-you-book.html Included in above but worth reiteration: 2. Windows Operating system must pass Genuine Windows Validation 3. A wired internet connection will be more stable than wireless 4. DO NOT SIT YOUR EXAM IN SETTINGS WITH A CORPORATE FIREWALL/VPN 5. Enable internet cookies and disable pop-up blockers Re desk location and set up of a CLEAR desk area: 6. A completely quiet and private room – make sure no one enters during your exam 7. A minimum monitor size of 17” to be able to effectively manage response options 8. NO SCRAP PAPER is allowed on your desk 9. Scientific calculators are allowed, but not programmable calculators or with word display facility – see FAQs for details http://www.accaglobal.com/lk/en/help/remote.html During the exam: 10. You are allowed ONE comfort break of up to 5 minutes. You must NOTIFY your invigilator using the chat function before leaving and on returning but do not need to wait for permission before leaving. TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDANCE: Please READ this NOW and pay particular attention to the WEBCAM instructions https://www.accaglobal.com/gb/en/student/exam-entry-and-administration/computer-based-exams/remote-session-exams/on-exam-day/troubleshooting-guidance.html Check out ACCA’s resources on accaglobal.com/remoteready and be sure to READ CAREFULLY the exam regulations here https://www.accaglobal.com/gb/en/student/exam-entry-and-administration/rules-and-regs/exam-regulations.html

Hello All, Do you guys know if the word processor embedded in the remote examination tool automatically saves progress throughout? I did not click on "end exam" and the window closed automatically when the time lapsed. Do you know if all progresses made up to the end - including the latest changes - are automatically saved? There is no saving button so I presume so. Thanks!

@manuhobie - short answer - yes.

Hi Kim, I disabled the firewall on my computer. My computer is not corporate but I am paranoid so I still went ahead. Is this right or wrong?
IIfeoluwa5y ago#35
I had this same problem. I was on the queue for more than 2 hours. Eventually, I was told that my session expired. I had to withdraw the exam. I called ACCA and they said I had to wait till September. The queue started with 566 persons around 4.50AM EDT and only got to my turn around 6:45AM EDT. I was asked to relaunch VUE. I was 1st in line but the Proctor never showed up for almost 1 hour, till I got an error and the session became invalid.
CChinedu5y ago#36
What country are you in?
Ffrancois9885y ago#37
i waited for 1.5 hrs ! there were 446 students waiting before me
MMilena5y ago#38
I waited for over an hour (started my exam 30 min earlier than scheduled just in case and I was right). I was 407 in queue (10:45 Central European Time). I managed to start the exam and so sorry for those who couldn't! I was late for work because of this, though.
KimKimTutor5y ago#39
@chinedu123 - you would have to ask ACCA directly. The instructions refer specifically to corporate firewalls as these are likely to have more stringent security that may prevent the exam software and/or invigilation software from running.
SSiyabonga5y ago#40
I am in South Africa, I was supposed to start at 11:15 CAT I only started at 12:30 and then as I was busy with my last question my exam froze and had to be relaunched again I had to wait in line. But the worst part is that I ran out out time my exam was still counting down when it was frozen that time was not added back at least 5 minutes

PLEASE POST your "experience" comments to the relevant "poll and comments" post so that this thread can focus on queries about the recommendations.

Thank you for your comment Min. How are things in Czechia? I have been going on holiday with my very good friend from Prague every year for more than 10 years - but it will have been 2 1/2 years by the next time we are likely to have chance to do that again.

When does the examiner start checking our centre based cbe's
KimKimTutor5y ago#48
@Chartac - your query has no relevance to this or any of the forums where I have seen you post the same. By all means start a new thread with an appropriate subject line but do please indicate why you are asking this.

I checked in at 4;15 sharp, but there was a huge queue of 350 ahead of me. After about 45 mins when it was my turn, it recalculated and there was another 280 ahead of me!!! and then, when I finally got in, I could see myself in the monitor, but the greeter could not. He asked me to close and reopen onvue, but now it says the check in window is closed!!!!!! I dont know what to do, Im freaking out

@vinay8384 - welcome to OT! If you use the search function https://opentuition.com/search-opentuition you may well find answers to your queries - e.g. "AAA SBR before" will take you to this one https://opentuition.com/topic/aaa-without-studying-sbr-before If you cannot quickly find an answer by all means ask again but please start a new thread in the appropriate forum - e.g. here https://opentuition.com/forum/ask-acca-tutor-forums/ask-the-tutor-acca-advanced-audit-and-assurance-aaa-exams (rather than add to an existing thread on an unrelated topic).

@riskyaccounting - I am sorry but we are not an on-demand service and I cannot respond immediately to posts and, in the case of on-the-day exam issues, I have no visibility of the systems to advise on individual cases. As you say on your other post, you have since been withdrawn from this exam. Claiming this means that you will be credited the exam fee for the next session - i.e. September 2021. Obviously the system knows that there were technical issues, but if you want to make a complaint you should contact ACCA directly https://www.accaglobal.com/vn/en/footer-toolbar/contact-us.html I would strongly recommend though that you sleep on any complaint and draft it in as professional tone as you can muster - throwing around words like "negligence" does not help.
SShreya5y ago#52
Thanks for the response - I wasn’t expecting a swift reply, since I have been on OT for some time now and know that there’s a lead time. Obviously, I wouldn’t word a professional email the same way as my posts on here. I’ve read on other forums that most students who’ve had issues with other exams have been given the option of rebooking it for next week. Would you happen to know more about this?
KimKimTutor5y ago#53
Please see at the bottom of this page https://www.accaglobal.com/ca/en/help/remote.html - 2nd week exams are available only for Applied Skills.
MMona5y ago#54
Hi I'm quite paranoid with the fact that I'm not sure whether my exam was submitted. In my plan it says exam attempted. How do I know whether it has been submitted to ACCA
KimKimTutor5y ago#55
Attempted = Submitted
KimKimTutor5y ago#56
@Noah098 - please see my post at the top of this page: June 11, 2021 at 5:14 pm Please see at the bottom of this page https://www.accaglobal.com/ca/en/help/remote.html – 2nd week exams are available only for Applied Skills.

To EVERYONE reading this post - this is a statement to me/OpenTuition from ACCA: "We have acknowledged that the RI session didn’t run to the standards we and our students expect, so we have offered a goodwill gesture of 50% of the exam fee to everyone who sat a remote exam." So @phuongmore - NO - this hasn't happened in the past. A "blanket" goodwill gesture is fairer than a random cut-off whether someone was 234th in a queue or 233rd or 159th or whatever. The fact remains that many students suffered delayed starts that seem to have been much more significant at the June session than in previous sessions.
KimKimTutor4y ago#58
@myslim - welcome to OpenTuition's forums! Please take care to not post on "old" threads - also there is a search function where you might find related/similar questions - e.g. see here https://opentuition.com/topic/sitting-for-acca-session-exams-in-different-country IP addresses are most definitely tracked and even if RI CBE were to be available in another country (details not yet available for December 2021), RI is organised on a regional basis and IP addresses outside the region may well be blocked (I'm speculating but this is a pretty obvious control!)
KimKimTutor4y ago#59
@Noal098 - if you look at the "View our guide on how to setup your desk and room" available here https://www.accaglobal.com/an/en/student/exam-entry-and-administration/about-our-exams/remote-exams/remote-session-exams/before-you-book.html - it would suggest that you cannot have it on your desk. If you set it up on the day away from the desk top and ask the invigilator the worst that can happen is that they ask you to move it to somewhere where it is of no benefit to you - but it is not unreasonable that you should want one.
