General ACCARemote Invigilation SESSION CBEs 6-10 September 2021 – ACCA RECOMMENDATIONS!

KimKimTutor4y ago
See below a “Top 10” list of recommendations from ACCA to avoid potential pitfalls in sitting session CBEs remotely – with links to where you can find more details: 1. Check the minimum technical specifications AND complete and pass the system test in the same place you will take your exam http://www.accaglobal.com/gb/en/student/exam-entry-and-administration/computer-based-exams/remote-session-exams/before-you-book.html Included in above but worth reiteration: 2. Windows Operating system must pass Genuine Windows Validation 3. A wired internet connection will be more stable than wireless 4. DO NOT SIT YOUR EXAM IN SETTINGS WITH A CORPORATE FIREWALL/VPN 5. Enable internet cookies and disable pop-up blockers Re DESK (or table) location and set up of a CLEAR desk area: 6. You must sit at a DESK or table (on a bed is NOT permitted) in a completely quiet and private room. It is your responsibility to make sure no one enters your room during your exam. 7. A minimum monitor size of 17” to be able to effectively manage response options 8. NO SCRAP PAPER is allowed on your desk 9. Scientific calculators are allowed, but not programmable calculators or with word display facility – see FAQs for details http://www.accaglobal.com/lk/en/help/remote.html During the exam: 10. You are allowed ONE comfort break of up to 5 minutes. You must NOTIFY your invigilator using the chat function before leaving and on returning but DO NOT NEED TO WAIT for permission before leaving. TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDANCE: Please READ this NOW and pay particular attention to the WEBCAM instructions https://www.accaglobal.com/gb/en/student/exam-entry-and-administration/computer-based-exams/remote-session-exams/on-exam-day/troubleshooting-guidance.html Check out ACCA’s resources on accaglobal.com/remoteready and be sure to READ CAREFULLY the exam regulations here https://www.accaglobal.com/gb/en/student/exam-entry-and-administration/rules-and-regs/exam-regulations.html For FAQs about remote ON-DEMAND CBE see this separate post https://opentuition.com/topic/remote-on-demand-cbe-faqs

can you take bathroom break?
KimKimTutor4y ago#2
@nadiranks Please see point 10 in the list.
NNikita4y ago#3
Can I take formula sheet with me on the desk ?
KimKimTutor4y ago#4
@Nikitagarwal - NO - there must be NO paper on your desk. If you look at the CBE practice platform you should find the exam formulae under the "Help" function (bottom left of screen?)
Ssuellen4y ago#5
I am doing it on my laptop. I have a keyboard connected to it, any chance that this is allowed?
KimKimTutor4y ago#6
@suellen151 - go to BEFORE YOU BOOK link https://www.accaglobal.com/gb/en/student/exam-entry-and-administration/computer-based-exams/remote-session-exams/before-you-book.html At point 3. View our guide on how to setup your desk and room ... you will find a link to a pdf download for permitted set-up - separate keyboard is optional.
NNikita4y ago#7
Thanks Kim for confirming this!
Nnranks4y ago#8
thanks I was just clarifying if the break meant that they need to be able to see you at all times and that bathroom breaks per say were not allowed.
KimKimTutor4y ago#9
A "comfort break" means a toilet break.

In my last Tax paper attempt , The excel sheet was really small and moving up down left right was a challenge on the sheet . Is thery option to make the excel portion look larger?
KimKimTutor4y ago#11
@Mahima077 - have you checked out the functionality in ACCA's CBE practice platform?
NNikita4y ago#12
Sir, I am not sure about the 10th point, we need to just tell them or ask for a permission and therefore wait for them to respond.
KimKimTutor4y ago#13
@Nikitagarwal - my words added in [ ] 10. You are allowed ONE comfort break of up to 5 minutes [i.e. the period of absence from your webcam can be checked]. You must NOTIFY your invigilator using the chat function before leaving ["please be advised I am leaving for a comfort break"] and on returning ["I have returned"] but DO NOT NEED TO WAIT for permission before leaving [I don't think this can be made any clearer - you must not expect/wait for an invigilator response!] .

Hi Kim, thanks for explaining that :) We have now received the dockets however I remember it was not required in sept 2020, so do we need to print it out and keep it us ?
KimKimTutor4y ago#15
https://www.accaglobal.com/lk/en/help/remote.html Do I need an exam docket and photographic ID? A docket is issued for remote exams, but it is for information only; you don't need to use it to check in to or launch your exam. However, you will be required to present photographic ID as proof of your identity during the check-in process. The following forms of ID are accepted: Valid passport Driving licence National ID card Biometric residence permit

There is a two week of slot for each CBE exam like UK tax first session is on 7th Sept and second session is on 14th Sept. Is it right ?
KimKimTutor4y ago#17
@veenalakshmi - NO - there is one exam week for everyone: 6-10th September as per the SUBJECT line of this post and also here https://www.accaglobal.com/an/en/student/exam-entry-and-administration/exam-timetables.html If on one of these days a candidate encounters an IT issue which cannot be resolved through troubleshooting https://www.accaglobal.com/an/en/student/exam-entry-and-administration/computer-based-exams/remote-session-exams/on-exam-day/troubleshooting-guidance.html then, and only then, a contingency timetable will be available 11-15th September.

Hi,I have had a disaster of a day. Did the checks and everything else just when it was going into my actual exam I get a "please close all remote_ we cannot do this for you message rom onvu" I was on the phone to the invilgator for an hour and they told me to go to open task and close a list of things that could be trigering this problem. I now have the exam on monday but the same problem could come up.Did anyone else have this problem?? And if you did how to fix!!
KimKimTutor4y ago#21
@deftoneseire07 - I suggest you check thoroughly the trouble shooting link in my post of September 5, 2021 at 8:17 am (above). But based on what you write I don't think you can have closed all applications (except OnVue and Finder). On a windows computer "Alt+Ctrl+DEL" you can select "Start Task Manager" - under the "applications" tab you will be able to see all the programs that are running (at any point in time) and from there you can select and "End" all the tasks that you need to close. You don't have to wait for the next exam to check out task manager. Other things to check - that you don't have a corporate firewall/VPN and that you have licensed/authentic/original windows OS software, etc.

I had the same issue. The problem was they couldn't see my video but I could see myself at the top of the screen recording. I'm also writing again on Monday. I hope these issues do not happen again.

@jerushah - "webcam issues" have been common in previous exam sessions - be sure to check out the specific webcam guidance here https://www.accaglobal.com/an/en/student/exam-entry-and-administration/computer-based-exams/remote-session-exams/on-exam-day/troubleshooting-guidance.html

Hi I had my AFM exam today, Completed the exam without any issue and the exam ended after the time period ended. After the exam ended I informed my Proctor that the time had ended so should I exit and then she called me and said that there is a technical issue from their side so she will revoke the exam from her side but told me that there won't be an issue as the exam will be submitted and marked by ACCA and then she revoked my exam. I repeatedly asked her will there be an issue then she said no the exam will be marked but I'm not convinced. I checked my plan and it doesnt say exam attempted it says booked only I've contacted ACCA regarding this, I hope I will not have to do it again or they giving me a refund saying it was their mistake. I completed the exam and the exam went smoothly and ended and then this. I hope these invigilator know what they are doing or else they'll be costing us valuable time from our life and also add alot of stress.
KimKimTutor4y ago#29
@ranganaherath See here for "Check your exam has been submitted video" https://www.accaglobal.com/hk/en/student/exam-entry-and-administration/computer-based-exams/remote-session-exams/on-exam-day.html The webpage suggests that you should allow up to 72 hours for this confirmation.
