Can someone please advise me on how well I need to know all the models listed in the syllabus i.e. do I just need a basic knowledge or must it be thorough. Also are all model models of equal importance?

I’m not sure what you mean by a basic knowledge compared to a thorough knowledge.

You are rarely required to explain models, but you are expected to be able to apply them to scenarios, so concentrate on being able to do that.

A model is important if it comes up! Some ‘models’ are little more than lists – but still useful. My top dozen would be:

    1 PESTEL
    2 5 Forces
    3 Generic strategies
    4 Ms model for resources
    5 Ansoff’s matrix
6 Strategy evaluation: suitability, acceptability, feasibility
    7 Boston consulting group
    8 6Is of e-business
    9 Harmon’s process strategy matrix
    10 4 or 7 Ps for marketing
11 Project initiation document contents and project gateways
    12 Job design and motivation

Feel free to include particular favourites.
