Rent a Room Relief
In example 4 wouldn’t it be beneficial if Barbara elect for ordinary calculation instead of alternative calculation. As in ordinary calculation property income is higher (6600) than alternative calculation (1200).
Not sure what you are saying here – the ordinary calculation gives an assessment of 6,600 whereas the rent a room relief calculation gives an assessment of 300!
Clearly paying tax on only 300 is much better than paying tax on 6,600
