Hi, I would like you to have advices on the above subject
(1) Is it valuable to pursue such questions prior to revision phase? It is because the revision involves past papers and mock examination practicing, self marking (lesson learnt for the knowledge gap between my answers and model answers), reading technical articles and examiner reports. This requires substantial times to achieve the required technical knowledge skill and professional skills. In case this section are a need to proceed, it will waste much time to fulfill. Beside, there are FOUR aspects for considerations:
(I) Out-dated period – The questions appears years 2005-2010. Out-dated period and information MAY distort the candidate’s view on the current syllabus content.
(iI) Not examinable topics – NPV calculations, P/L statement preparation, product profitability statement preparation would be asked in real examination.
(iiI) Not consistent with real examination style – The question design and format are inconsistent with the ones appears in the real examination.
(iV) Answers not in required format demanded by the examiner – The report format, layout such as heading, sub-heading and bullet point SHOULD be shown if gaining credits.
(2) IN CASE it is a need to do such practice questions, how to tackle for NO MARKS allocated questions and their sub-parts? It is because marks indicate length of answer and the answering time required. In the real examination, the report preparation normally indicate 50 marks and non report type questions usually indicate 25 marks.
In the end, from my personal views, it is better to select those unfamiliar topics to do so as to strengthen my weaknesses in this aspect.
November 25, 2022 at 5:45 pm #672618These are provided for practice of some techniques only. They do not purport to be typical of real exam questionsand shouldn’t be treated as such. If you don’t like them, don’t do them.
We always strongly recommend that candidates buy a revision kit from Kaplan or BPP and, for the most recent questions, look at the ACCA site.
