Each question/scenario is self-contained and you have to solve the problem presented. Generally referring to real-life example is not likely to gain you marks. If you do refer to a real case, keep it very short indeed.
Just as the true life story may certainly not earn you any marks, it may do you more harm as well than good as the whole story may adversely eat-up your time and reduce your chances of gaining more points in other sections of the paper.
