Thankz Shahbaz Could you please tell me what other degrees/opportunities are open while studying acca?

Hi I've heard that it you've taken Islamiyat, Pak studies, Business etc in O levels and General paper in A levels it is enough for proof of proficiency..is this true?

I recently found out that i am not opted for BSC program :( Is there any other way for me to get BSC degree?

Helo i gave this june 2014 F4, F5 in which i passed F5 but failed F4 @46. now from what i have heard is that F4 was your bridge to BSC degree so if u cleared that you were good to go ahead and take any papers of your choice. In my case i have heard is that whether i do F4 now or later i must submit an English qualification proof to ACCA then only i can take F7, F8 and F9 other wise i will lose BSC Degree. can you please help me out in this matter ??

@abdullahzafar Sorry but unfortunately I think if there is no way you can opt back in, the answer is no, you cannot do the OBU BSc in Applied Accounting. We have had this question before on the Forums and I think the answer is tied up to the rules on accredited prior learning. In the UK a degree normally involves a 3 year course of study but you can be given a certain amount of prior learning credits to shorten this period however as far as I know this accreditation ( which ultimately is laid down by the body that governs UK universities not OBU itself) will not allow more than a certain amount of accreditation before you enter a degree programme and anything over and above that cannot be counted. What this means in practice is that F4, F5 & F6 give the maximum number of credits allowed and the rest has to be learning done after you have entered the programme, so if you have already done F7/8/9 these cannot be counted and therefore you would not end up with sufficient credits overall for the degree. I know it sounds harsh, but OBU cannot do anything about this as they don't make the rules, they just have to abide by them. To try to avoid this now, new students agree to join the programme when they register with ACCA and actually have to opt out if they don't want to submit the RAP. If they have opted out then they can change their mind and opt back in as long as they have not passed F7/8/9

Your English sounds fine so as long as you comply with the formalities, you shouldn't have any practical problem with the RAP itself (in our answer an OBU marker pointed out that additionally markers need to be able to understand what students are writing about)

So this is obviously not applicable to people who have passed f4 before it turns to cbe right? I mean if a person passed f4 like 2 years ago theirs will be accepted as a proof of proficiency in English right?

Hello Anna can you please help me to understand the English Language Requirements for Oxford Brookes BSc (Hons) Applied Accounting ? I have checked the ACCA website and what I have found is this along with other english language qualifications: ACCA qualification paper F4 – Corporate and Business Law (last EP acceptable session June 2014) Internally assessed ACCA Paper 1.3 or F4 (2007 syllabus) CAT – (Technician Graduate) – last EP acceptable session June 2011, from Dec 2011 FIA does not meet EP. As I have completed my CAT qualification in june 2011, should not my CAT qualification be sufficient for the english language requirements for OBU degree under that statement ? Hello, I am acca affiliate now, earlier when i was a student i was already opted into BSc hons as there was a sentence written that you are opted into BSc. I just want to ask i can't see any sentences like these anymore, how do i check if i am currently opted in? as i am planning to submit my project in period 29

@captmario If you haven't opted out there shouldn't be any reason why you can't submit provided you fulfil the rest of the eligibility criteria. I take it you haven't exceeded (or won't have exceeded) the 10 year limit by the time the Period 29 submission window opens in November?

Hi everyone am new! I will be writing my f1,f2,f3 exams come this December. I recently read an article that says that credits for the award of degree at Oxford Brookes University is gathered from f4 up to f9 .However, at some point I also read that one can opt in at f7. My question is,why shouldn't I deliberately opt in at f7 instead of at f4 which portends more exams hence more risks of failing?

@Donald your honours classification for your degree is only based on the average of papers passed from F4 to F9 so there is no difference when you opt in. You are probably already opted in by default anyway. We have many posts on here about students who opted out then being too late to opt in - so leave well alone - if you are in stay in to avoid any future problems

If one opted for the OBU and the marks are at the range of 50s from f4 to f9 what happens then

@nacnac Please see page 14 of the Information Pack: If your average for papers F4 to F9 is at least 54 and you pass your RAP (regardless of grade) you will get a Lower second class Honours - a 2.2 If your average is 53 marks then you will need a pass grade of A or B in your RAP to get a 2.2 as a C grade RAP would result in a 3rd Class honours degree Any average marks lower than an average of 53 will mean 3rd Class honours (regardless of the pass grade you got for the RAP) Obviously you only get the degree if you pass the RAP by your 3rd attempt

i was told last year that i can not submit my RAP with OBU because the time i registered for has elapsed. what is the position now. regards henry

@Henry mulenga Are you referring to the submission window or personal eligibility? If it is10 or more years since you registered with ACCA or had passed F7/8/9 before opting into the OBU programme you are not eligible as those are still the ACCA/OBU rules. If however you are referring to the submission window this opens on 1st Nov

am referring to personal eligibility. i registered ACCA in 2002

hi, i completed FIA june 2014. and now F4 exam format is changed. I gave IELTS exam last year june 2013. and i got overall 6 band. listening 5.5 reading 5.5 writing 5.5 and speaking 7. would it help me or i must do again IELTS.

I read the 2014/2015 pack and in there, it was stated that "any students who have successfully passed Paper F4 on or before June 2014 will continue to be able to use this as proof of English proficiency." The rule therefore apply to those sitting F4 in December 2014 and beyond.

6 overall band is enough for eligibility for proficiency in English??

Please does anyone have an idea on the closest translation from Credit Scores to CGPA. Since OBU ACCA grads are given their results in the form of credit scores. Mine for example is a credit score of "360" and I would really glad if I could get to know it's closest conversion value in the form of CGPA. thanks.

Hi all, I got registered in CAT (now FIA) in June 2003. Completed CAT and got transferred to ACCA in June 2005. Am I still eligible to apply for OBU BSc degree (based on 10 years rule)? If yes, is this submission period in May would be the last one?

@zulaickhalid I believe you probably have just the one submission opportunity left now. I would recommend that you use a good mentor as you need to get through at the first attempt. The Learning Luminarium our approved mentoring service has a good pass rate so you could use them or someone else who similarly also has a high standing and good track record that has been recommended. Suggest you check eligibility with the OBU Admin Office - you should get a fairly prompt reply. Good luck to you! :-)

@josy87 - In principle provided you submit within 10 years you can opt in. However we do not make up the rules and the only authority on this is the Admin Office of OBU. If you contact them directly about eligbility they will normally respond within a couple of days (except at weekends and public holidays) but set out all the relevant details. Regarding mentors then as explained elsewhere on our forums (search using the key word 'mentor' ) you need to register as a mentee (no cost is involved at that stage) and you will have access to the mentoring section of the OBU website and the list of registered mentors and their contact details. "Does anyone in the same situation as me opted for OBu and passed it?" - what do you mean by this question? The pass rate is about 55% (possibly lower for first time submissions) so of course people who have opted in make up this statistic as no-one can enter if they have not opted in.

Hello, I'm a little confused regarding the english qualification requirement, do i need to do this if i was born and live in the UK? If this is required how do i go about submitting an exam certificate to ACCA? thanks
