A local authority department is responsible for waste collection. they have an annual budget to provide a regular collection service from households in local area. Budget was increased to enable department to increase the percentage of waste disposed of in an environmently friendly manner.
Which of the following is best measurement to justify the increase in budget
a) An increase in number of collections made during the period
b) percentage of waste recycled rather than being placed in landfill sites
c) fair value of machinery used in making the collections
d) breakdown of expenditure between cost of making collections and cost of processing wasteCorrect ans is B but please can you explain me that why b is correct and why others are wrong? Also from which topic this mcq relates?
This is a bit of an odd MCQ and would probably relate to the analysis of financial statements but even then it still appears more relevant to one of the other papers. I’d go with b) as if the waste it disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner then this will mean more recycling being done.
