Has anyone else who has successfully rebooked for a remote exam not received a confirmation email? I booked over 2 hours ago and am worried I’ve received no confirmation, although I can see the invoice on my account, the credit from cancelling the previous exam has gone.

I am in the UK. I just booked FR and AA exams. I have been trying to book exams on my ipad, iphone and macbook since midnight, but it has not been successful. Then I tried on my husband’s Dell laptop, it showed “at home” option. When I was booking exams on the Dell laptop, I also refreshed the booking page on my macbook and there was no “at home” option. Its tricky!!

Managed to book my ATX exam now for March. Decided on an afternoon exam this time. Bit concerned about the stipulation where any outside noise is heard voids the exam. I live two doors up from a busy shop…

I booked mine around an hour ago and haven’t received a confirmation email. I did find last time that even though I booked a centre exam, I didn’t receive my confirmation for a few hours… may just be delayed due to the number of bookings etc.

I’m trying to book my FM exam and it does not appear in the list. Can you kindly let me know how you booked it? Via myACCA or via https://www.accaglobal.com/ie/en/student/exam-entry-and-administration/computer-based-exams/on-demand-cbes/remote-on-demand-cbe-info.html as per youtube clip?

    Hi guys,

Quick question for those in the UK.

When I was booking my exam one of the informations said:
*UP and OP delivery only (OP01), USA

But the time and date displayed as 4th March 12:00 Europe/London

Just hoping it is booked for UK and not for USA. Did anyone else had similar info?

    Many thanks.

    @Kim Smith

    Dear Kim,

Many students on opentuition mentioned that they were not allowed to use their calculators and 2 scratch papers on the exam day as requested by the invigilator, while you confirmed that all candidates have the right for that.

Can you please advise how I will make sure that on the exam day I will not face the same issue by the exam invigilator?

In addition to the above, I’m seeking yourself advise regarding using the spreadsheet. I’ve booked my AFM exam CBE at home, and I’m wondering if I can just consider filling the spreadsheet with the calculated answers using the calculator instead of using the Excell functions or equations? Is that acceptable by the examiners?

    Please advise.

    Thanks,

    Amani.

    Hey,

Just a quick query regarding the requirement for there to be no sounds otherwise they will void the exam. I live in a house share, and I will of course tell them not to make any noise near the room etc, but just wondering how strict are they on this? For example will they hear them if they are on a work call or if the doorbell goes and they answer it? I just want to be prepared, as I don’t want them to fail me due to hearing a noise in the background that’s totally unrelated.

    Thank you!

@amanicma – the calculator issue is one I raised with ACCA and I also advised all students who raised the matter on this forum to report it as an exam issue. So I would hope that all proctors are properly advised on the issue. I will be raising it again with ACCA before the exams are sat and if there is any further guidance on the matter of calculators I will post a separate thread to this forum to draw students’ attention to it.

I do in any case recommend, however, that you should practice with the online calculator embedded in the exam software (e.g. using exams in the practice platform). That way you will be prepare and covered in any event.

You would be better to ask John for specific advice using the Ask the AFM tutor forum but I would say based on what I know of the Applied Skills exams that the examiners (PM, FR, FM) specifically report that candidates must NOT simply “plug” numbers from their calculators. If you make any mistake and your answer is incorrect you can get no credit if you have failed to show your workings. Also, there may be a specific instruction to “show all workings”.

@bakesbrooklyn Is this what you are looking at or something else? “You must take your exam in a private and quiet room for the full duration of the exam.”

I take this to mean that the room in which you sit the exam should not be disturbed – non-one knocking on the door or calling out to you, for example.

I think in any room there may be the possibility of some background noise but it should only be occasional and not excessive – the invigilator/proctor/webcam should not perceive there to be background noise which blocks out the quiet noises of you sitting the exam – tapping on the keyboard/calculator and the occasional sniff or sigh – hopefully no sobs.

I think you should bear in mind that if in a centre-based exam there was undue background noise, a candidate could claim mitigating circumstances. Other than due to some force majeure/force of nature affecting your ability to sit an exam remotely, you will not be able to claim mitigating circumstances for mere noise that is a known and regular occurrence when you are booking to sit the exam.

Is there anyone who still couldn’t register for March exam because there is no “at home” option? I have deleted the cookies and all browsing history as suggested by acca customer service and tried open the webpage through other browsers but still no at home option appearing in my account. So frustrated at their outdated system!
