General ACCAMARCH 2020 RESULTS COUNTDOWN

AAbdullahi6y ago
Hello and Welcome all It has been difficulty time with Covid19 for all of us, some more than others, and it doesn't show any sign of slowing down soon. I hope you are all in good health and managing the situation. Onto ACCA I am first time finalist , awaiting SBL result and to say I am nervous would be such understatement. It feels like a year ago since I did sbl on march 3 2020 and we are still in the same month. And the lockdown made things even slower . I don't know what to expect from the SBL exam. The exam was so general that you cannot relate to any syllabus or text and my answers were just common sense. No models and no structure, just my own rambling. I did attempt all questions though with the best I could offer so there is hope. Bring your experiences guys . Where are the veteran finalists? I remember a guy called chalbuala or Nasi something like that that attempted APM10 times and failed every single time. He passed December last year on 11th attempt.the persistent to overcome such adversity was inspirational and I was so happy for him to finally to put it aside. Share your thoughts

If I can ask something, why do people in Uk take ACCA rather than ICAEW ? is ICAEW harder than ACCA?
CCiara6y ago#212
I found ATX “easy” compared to AFM. I enjoyed and done well at FM. But AFM. 3 attempts it took me. The examiner is an a****. It didn’t matter how much work I put in. Or how well I thought I knew it, when I finally sat the exam it was twisted into a way I’d never seen before. Finally scrapped through with 52% on my 3rd attempt. ATX I was 63% first time I found PM Easy.... but I did study AAT previously which certainly helped. I can’t comment on APM

I was advised to do ACCA instead of ACA as ACCA is international, recognised world wide.

Ciara, What order did you giver your P exams ? you have completed both options, which paper are you waiting for ?
AAeron6y ago#215
Isn't ACA more reputed than ACCA ? I always thought so, and Ciara do you intend to travel internationally for work ?

People training in accounting practices in UK & Ireland will often do ACA/ICAEW. In industry, often ACCA. Exceptions exist in both however. ACA perhaps held in higher esteem in UK & Ireland, but less well known beyond that. ACCA has a good rep worldwide.

I did SBL. AFM. ATX and finally SBR which I am waiting for now. I hated AFM by the time I finished it. And I didn’t enjoy SBL. I found the paper too subjective. I really enjoyed tax and somewhat have enjoyed SBR I don’t intend to travel internationally. But it’s nice to have the option as honestly I’m making it up as I’m going along career wise

I hope so. I don’t think I’ve done amazing. But really hope I’ve done enough to pass and but my acca student journey behind me. Weird to think I could be qualifying in an hour. Mixture of excitement and nerves.
