    hi all, i am having trouble calculating the learning curve formula y = Ax b i use a sharp calculator model el-w531.. i would be very grateful for any help. say for example y = 30 * 3 -0.201 The answer is y = 24.06 But how do you calculate this on a calculator? on open tuition video lecture it mentions xy and +/- buttons but these are not on my calculator. thanks for reading and hopefully someone can help:-)

    Type it into the calculator exactly like this

    3 ^ – 0.201 = X 30 =

    The ^ means to the power of

    Unfortunately still not working, I don’t have the ^ symbol on my calculator? Are there any other alternatives for this symbol?

    try the xy button (2 above the number 7 on the el-w531 calculator) instead of the ^

    Thanks but still not working out,

    Perhaps it is the ‘mode’ my calculator is in

    Should it be in ‘Normal’ mode or a different one?

    As I guessed you need financial calculator. (When calculator has log symbols)

    Using general calculator you will never achieve the result.

    Hi

    I’ve just pulled up a picture of your calculator online…

    I think you would have to type in

    30 x (3 ‘Yx’ -0.201) =

    where Yx is the button on the far left under ‘hyp’
