The last diet that took place i failed the paper by 2 marks, it really painful because i studied so hard coping with the fact of my father demise during that period, i guessed it all weighed on me, i almost thought of quitting ACCA but i am not because if i quit now, all the time and money spent would be in vain so i guess i just have to struggle on.
However i had some major flaws in the exam and i figured out where i got it wrong, there were some topics i neglected such as operating lease which came out in the exam and also EPS. Till now i have been trying to read that particular topic, i still can’t understand it.
Please where can i find a video on EPS of the published account
Thank youAugust 11, 2015 at 6:49 am #266643Hi Allwell
I’m sorry to learn of your father’s death and of your performance in the exam room
A student wrote on this site some time ago that success is the act of carrying on despite adversity. What would your father have wanted you to do? Quit? I doubt it!
With reference to eps, you appear to have a mental block! The subject is really quite straightforward at F7 level (it can get a bit more complicated at P2)
Sort out the calculation for finding basic eps (earnings / shares)
Sort out the calculation and effect of a bonus issue and the bonus fraction (number of shares in issue after the bonus / number of shares in issue before the bonus)
Sort out the calculation and effect of a rights issue (share value before the rights / theoretical share value after the rights)
Sort out the calculation and effect of options (calculate the number of “free” shares and add to the previously calculated weighted average)
Sort out the calculation and effect of loan conversions into equity shares (add onto equity the number of “potential extra shares” and add onto earnings the potential extra earnings”)
….. and there you have it.
None of those steps individually requires an Einstein – rocket science is not involved. If, when practising these steps and the topic in general you come across a problem, write again and I’ll see if I can make it easier for you
There is no video about eps at the moment – I’ll need to record one in the future but there’s no way that it would be ready for a September resit, sorry
OK?
