marts0101, i decided to make in-house, because the part of fixed cost are must be ignored...exam was disaster...
in Q, that is related with variance, my actual profit is 44151 (as in question...), is it normal?
Former userFormer user14y ago#32
23,2m is capital employed...(per LSFB exam kit)
Ccool3rking14y ago#33
Paper was a disaster, Q3 was awful so as Q1, i tried my best though, but only GOD knows what will happen.
Former userFormer user14y ago#34
Yes i took 23.2m capital employed but not sure whether it is right. Profit value multiply by 12 mths to get annual profit. I think i got around 16% for one of them
Former userFormer user14y ago#35
how did you get 100000 screen and 50000 keypad
Former userFormer user14y ago#36
i calculated only for month...2%, yes?
Ccool3rking14y ago#37
@ Alyonchik

It was 2 percent for one month, you should have multiplied it with 12 to get ROI for one year.

guys i feel that are too many ACCA students in the market and they want to reduce the chances of passing .....means making the examsmuch harder to get more value of ACCA qualifications.....i guess i will shift to CPA ....just 4 exams evey 6 months .........can't think to study for the 3rd time the same BOOK !!! is above ridicoulos,,, feeling pathetic as an accountant to fail 2 times F5!!!

for me ACCA change it's objectives and now prefer to be a profit maximising company than an organisation for qualified people. ACCA overestimates its value and it is not so elite as it thinks. If I would like to study in elite school I would choose Oxford or Harvard University!

Horrible exam. Last time got 48% so was hoping I would do a bit better this time to pass. A re-sit for me again in December:(
Former userFormer user14y ago#40

I calculated ROI per mth at first and got around 1.xx%.. forgot the decimal values. But i realise question asked for annualised ROI so i multiply by 12. Is this right?
Former userFormer user14y ago#43
yes,,well done

so I've done it wrong. :( I knew that 23.2 m is cap employed but when I got 1,34% ROI something was wrong so used Sales 1300 000 (stupid me!)

This question was first of kind in tens which I practised at home before exam.

It was too hard for me...i was taking F5 for the 2nd time and really i am very disgusted to know that i'll have to retake the F5 paper...really no chance of passing,,,ridiculous questions...

Question 1 was shit for me....really most of us were surely not expecting outsourcing and make or buy decision questions...it could be the most underrated topic of the 2nd part of the syllabus.

Question 2 was on target costing in the service sector...this was surely a tricky one and i could not find in any textbook how to find the target cost for a service industry...this was surely unfair from the examiner but i still manage to do all parts,,not sure whether ive written relevant things though

Question 3 was on the moving average, multiplicative,,thing like that...was a horrible one for me...the theory part was also very bad.

Question 4 was the easiest for me but still the TQM part got me :(

Question 5 was on ROI and RI....never expected this thing,,,sniff sniff

On the whole it was a bullshit exam, it could well be the hardest F5 paper ever and the pass rate will definitely confirm it in 9 weeks ...

Question

This is the last F I have to do. off all the exams Ihave done this is the most absurd one yet. Not sure what the examiner most of the time was asking pure nonsense. UHS was a crazy question, It took me 20 mins to read it in the first place. No ABC, no Throughput, No use of Formulas, no real costing techniques. It was more like a business management paper not a purely costing and budgeting one. Im sorry but it was pure sh8t. The examiner must of been on Crack when She was writing it.

Q1 seemly ok, but I am not sure about b, OUTSOUCING is cheaper for one of them.
Q2 okay, no big problems
Q3 what is that? seasonal? especally b) rolling budget, but what is the meaning? (disaster)
Q4 variance is OK, but budgeting? and TQM, what's that? it's real belongs to F5?
Q5 here we go, easy mark, but I am so stuip to use the new profit not controlling profit. (becaseu the questions before, what am i do in Q5). only one easy mark in the last question?
I am so sick, I guess i need do one more time on DEC.

Hi all
Just reading all your comments about difficulty etc...I didnt think it was straight forward but it was by no means as difficult as you are all making it sound

the key to passing ANY acca exam is you should knw ALL areas of the syllabus...no matter if they have been tested 100 times or not at all...

seasonal variation was a simple computation...and budgets question with it was asked in previous papers just not in the same context

1) was a bit tricky but the 5 marker at the end was simple

2 parts a and b were an easy 10 marks

4) was the simplest variance question EVER FACT!! the 8 marker on TQM was fine if you knew the syllabus

5) the annualising of the numbers threw me off a bit as i bet it did with most ppl...just have to do your best...for part c i depreciated the asset for 6 months but i forgot to take it off the net profit when i added on the extra contribution...the rest of the discussion was based around how good ri and roi were as tools for decisions
Former userFormer user14y ago#49
This paper would present difficulties to the people doing P5 let alone F5. Unfair paper. On the upside though since the past rate will be so low may go under 20% perhaps the markers will go a little easy on us. TQM complete guess, I recall reading about it in my technicians exam 5 years ago, complete guess, I might of well been asked to write about Totally Queer Men for all I know.

Question

the tihng is not what we can expect because really we can expect everything what's in book. The thing is that we have to be carefull not only about numbers and doing the calculations but about every word in the text as well.

In real life, does you manager really want you to calculate annual ROI basic on 1 months contribution? I don't think so

A strangely small pass rates for F5 and ACCA hasn't noticed that? Maybe it's something wrong with exam not with us????????????
Former userFormer user14y ago#51
When the answers will be available?
Former userFormer user14y ago#52
I think i forgot to do the theory question at question 3 :( was it on rolling budget? Can someone enlighten me pls?
Ccristina8514y ago#53
@fatinwaldorf norolling budgets!!!!

TQM - total quality management - used to reduce the defects in the production :)

when i pass F5 i will open a tution institute :)
Kkapslock14y ago#54
First time taking the exam and it was so hard. Q2 and Q5 were ok and I think I scored decent marks. The rest was major guessing. I don't understand what the examiner gets from setting such a hard paper? A lot of the stuff was hardly relevant.

There was no EMA accounting even though she has written an article on this and it has not been examined as of yet. I have F6 tomorrow and I'm not looking forward to that at all! What on earth is TQM by the way?

Onwards and upwards as they say. I hope everyone managed to do ok.

Does anyone know if they scale down marks if the average pass rate is ridiculously low?? Used to do it for Uni exams not sure for ACCA?

Cheers
Ccristina8514y ago#55
@tajinder2222 : well i was pretty good in varainces and i got lost there!!! so stop being so happy about your performance..i did the samelast time and failled with 45 .....
Ccristina8514y ago#56
@kapslock TQM - total quality management - reduces the number of defects and focuses on quality not on cost as standard costing does :)
Former userFormer user14y ago#57
The Q3.b was on rolling budget?????
I thought it was on imposed budgets.
Former userFormer user14y ago#58
Thanks @cristina85! Phew i thought i skipped a question cos i saw a comment abt the rolling budget. TQM was the question i intended to skip anyway haha!
Former userFormer user14y ago#59
cristina....not being happy with my performance...just saying the exam was as bad as everybody making it sound....there were lots of easy marks and bits and pieces to make you think...

the part b to question 3 was about top down budget setting process? or did i miss it and it was about a rolling budget?
Aagnesmwendela14y ago#60
The exam was stuff, why bring such difficult questions.?
I put in so much effort in preparing for this paper and was confident.
Going through the paper, I just couldn't believe it. Disaster!
