Hi John,
Should there be notes on Decision Support Systems? as I cant see any.
There is a question in the Kaplan Exam Kit (Q272) that asks "Explain the difference between a structured, a semi-structured and an unstructured decision but I don't think this was covered.
Also asks "what is meant by a Decision Support System"?
Could you explain what they are please?
Ask the Tutor ACCA PM
F5 Decision Support System
No - it s not covered in the notes, because the chances of it being asked in Paper F5 are virtually zero. (Kaplan have obviously just copied some questions from an exam on information technology that there used to be, but disappeared about 10 years ago :-) )
What just could be mentioned for a few marks, is what is meant by a decision support system (although it is very unlikely - it is not mentioned in the syllabus, which is why it is not mentioned in my notes!)
However all it is is software to help make decisions. For example, spreadsheets or linear programming software. They don't make decisions, but they help management because they can do all the relevant calculations needed to make decisions.
Ok, many thanks for responding.
You are welcome :-)
